Located in the beautiful town of Fort Collins, Colorado, Vortic is a small batch, custom watch manufacturer founded in 2013. The founders have a passion for timepieces and revere what we now consider the simple task of accurately recording time and the elegance with which it is accomplished.
After working with metal 3D printing for a university design project, the pair saw an opportunity to combine the cutting edge technology of metal 3D printing with gorgeous, antique, American-made pocket watch movements to create truly American made, bespoke wristwatches.

Why Pocket Watch Movements?
The true inspiration behind Vortic’s American Artisan Series is the simple idea that we had it right the first time. The United States produced millions of beautiful, ultra high-quality pocket watches from approximately 1850-1950.
U.S. made pocket watch mechanisms were built to last forever, so consequently, watches became heirlooms to be passed down for multiple generations to enjoy.
Today, many antique pocket watch movements are orphaned from their original precious metal cases for scrap prices. The founders of Vortic have found vigor in restoring and preserving those beautiful mechanisms in a functional and relevant way. The movements used in the American Artisan Series are actual pieces of United States history. Nothing of the like will ever be made again.
The American Artisan Series Product Explained
American Artisan Series watches are built using antique, U.S. made pocket watch dials, hands, and movements from the original great American watch manufacturing companies. Vortic builds advanced, water-resistant casings around the gorgeous antique movements using titanium 3D printing, Gorilla Glass crystals, and improved replica casing components. Every component of the watch is made to a high level of precision in the United States to create historic, one-of-a-kind pieces that will last forever.

Truly American Made
American Artisan Series watches are not simply assembled in the United States. Rather, each component is fabricated in-house at Vortic or another domestic, high-end manufacturing facility. Each watch is built and quality-tested, one-at-a-time, by skilled individuals at Vortic’s facility in Colorado.
Going from concept to final product is a long process of working with suppliers on design, revisions, prototypes, etc. Vortic builds everything in the United States in order to work directly with the specific individuals fabricating parts and ultimately achieve a truly superior product.
In a time when “American Made” has become more of an advertising slogan than a statement of quality, the American Artisan Series is living testimony to the deep roots of superior quality manufacturing in the USA.
