Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster Heading to Monterey, 1 of 50

Saving the best for last has been a tradition at Lamborghini. Think of how the Countach and the Diablo both evolved through trials and tribulations to end as the best examples of themselves. Fittingly, the Murciélago LP650-4 Roadster was limited to only 50 examples. Each one was finished in Grigio Telesto gray with Arancio orange highlights, inside and out.

The dash and instrument cluster have piano black accents to match the gloss black wheels. You might think it is just a final edition with special colors and graphics, but the real treat is under the glass decklid. This is the only Roadster to receive the 6.5L V12 engine. Sharing many components with the SuperVeloce, it is rated at 641 horsepower and 490 lb-ft. Changes in the camshaft timing and intake revisions allowed it to offer more power than any previous open-top Lamborghini.

Our friend Marshall Goldman saw the potential in owning such a car. His inventory has been featured in our magazine for years, and that is why you can’t miss Mecum’s Monterey Auction. Mr. Goldman is preening his collection because they are simply out of space. This is #49 of 50, and has only been driven 179 miles since it left the factory. We don’t know if car #50 still exists so this might be the last  Murciélago Roadster. It will be one of their prime time lots, so be sure to get registered now and stay with us for complete coverage of the event.
