The Overfinch Range Rover is Heading to America

For over 40 years, Overfinch has been elevating Range Rovers into bespoke objects of desire. Now this world-renowned brand has a base in the USA.

It takes confidence to remove the manufacturer’s name from a vehicle and replace it with your own. But in the case of Overfinch, whose jewel-like enamelled letters adorn the hood of the world’s most sought-after Range Rovers, that confidence is fully justified. And now, with the arrival of a wholly-owned Overfinch subsidiary in the USA, customers in North America can enjoy Overfinch quality and style for themselves.

For Overfinch is the original. The first to take the Range Rover and make it even better. The original series one Range Rover launched in 1970, and by 1975 the company (then trading as Schuler) were liberating extra horsepower to the delight of a growing customer base. Those first tuned Range Rovers proved such a success that soon the company had introduced antilock braking and Torqueflite auto transmissions – years before Land Rover engineered them as standard.

The next breakthrough came in the gruelling world of endurance rallies. A Range Rover equipped with Schuler components won the legendary Paris-Dakar Rally outright in 1981. Meanwhile, work continued on a Range Rover equipped with a Chrysler 5.7-liter V8 and 4-speed automatic transmission, and in 1986 the Overfinch 570 S was born.

The demand for Range Rovers with extra power, luxury and style wasn’t lost on Land Rover. But there will always be those who demand a little more individuality and luxury than the factory can provide. As the UK’s Autocar magazine noted, ‘people buy an Overfinch because they want the ultimate Range Rover.’

Today, the Range Rover’s supercharged 5.0-liter V8 hits 0-60 mph in 5.1 seconds – a few years ago, those would have been supercar figures. Accordingly ,Overfinch customers are now more interested in style, quality and craftsmanship than boosting power outputs even higher.

Many own multiple supercars, limousines or superyachts – and the craftsmanship they find in the cabin of an Overfinch Range Rover meets their highest expectations. Hand-embroidered Bridge of Weir leather upholstery comes in a wide variety of colours and designs. Veneers can be in any shade of carbon fiber or any one of dozens of veneers. If you want a one-off veneer set with mother of pearl, metal and sand-shading to your own design, it’s yours for the asking.

Overfinch is unique among creators of bespoke Range Rovers in having its own design studio. Those distinctive beautifully cast or forged wheels and carbon-fiber body panels are stunning – and get better the closer you look. Even finishing touches like exhaust tailpipes are cast and branded with the Overfinch identity to complete the integrated appearance.

Naturally, the company is highly protective of its designs and quality standards. A Range Rover doesn’t get those famed Overfinch badges unless it’s the real thing. And once you’ve tried an Overfinch Range Rover, you won’t want a mere imitation.
