Since 1984, Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Central Valley has been providing a “Home Away from Home” for the families while their child is being treated in a local hospital. Pediatric illness is something no family should endure, but nevertheless, some do, and the emotional and financial burdens it creates can be heartbreaking. Their mission is to offer a respite for parents, with food & lodging for families going through such a difficult time in their lives.
The Central Valley Ronald McDonald House is equipped with 18 private guest rooms. Each room features 2 full sized beds, satellite TV, and restroom. Guest share common areas such as kitchens, living rooms, and game rooms. Some families stay for a few days, while others stay for weeks or even months, depending the severity of their child’s illness/injury. In order to continue their mission, the rely on contributions from the public throughout the year. One of their biggest fundraisers is their Annual Collector Car Drawing.

The drawing will offer a trifecta of collectibles, with three of the world’s most sought after cars raffled off on November 30th. First up is a 2016 Corvette Z06 with every option. Chevrolet is sending the Z06 on vacation next year in order to focus on the Grand Sport along with resurrecting the ZR1. Many potential buyers have seen their deposits refunded as the model was quietly dropped from the lineup. Enthusiasts have been quick to act on remaining inventory, because who can argue with 650 hp and torque? It has the 2LZ aero package with black wheels, powered top, and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The best transmission GM has offered in decades, this car responds quicker than many dual clutch boxes.

Next up is the most iconic Corvette of all time, the 1963 Split Window Coupe. Corvette was all new for 1963, with many styling cues coming straight from the prototypes. The spine that bisects the rear glass was deleted for ’64 to improve rear visibility. Finished in Riverside red, this coupe has a red interior and four-speed manual transmission. Original hub caps cover the four wheel drum brakes, which do a fine job of stopping the 300 hp 327ci engine. It wouldn’t take much to have this car ready for NCRS or Bloomington judging, and like the Z06, the winner will receive $20,000 in cash to cover taxes.

Ford fanatics unite, as the next vehicle is made of Ford fandom. The Superformance MKIII is the only Cobra replica built under license from Carroll Shelby Licensing Inc. The hand-laid fiberglass body is correct in every dimension, but it rides on a laser-cut & TIG welded chassis. Under the hood lies a Roush 427 making 480 horsepower. Forged pistons and H-beam rods are topped by CNC ported aluminum heads. One of the best features is a handmade firewall of finned aluminum. It works wonders to keep heat out of the cockpit, making it a comfortable roadster. Custom valved Bilstein shocks and Wilwood brakes are the state-of-the-art in performance and make for a fun day at the track. Total cost for the build was $84,400 but you couldn’t replicate it for that price.
