Route 32 Auctions shows great success at their September 21, 2018 auction. The auction, held at their auction house in Crawfordsville, IN., featured a wide variety of items from porcelain signs to oil cans and everything in-between. It was a full house in attendance and they also offered online and phone bidding. The auction featured 225 lots and there were many lots that stood out.
A Marathon Products porcelain sign, lot 115, took the top spot with a hammer price of $5,100.00. The sign was displayed in a metal ring and it featured the iconic running man graphic. A metal Smokey the Bear die-cut sign, lot 99, came in second with a hammer price of $3,250.00. The sign was large measuring 88” tall and depicted Smokey in the forest with text in the background reading “Remember! Only you can prevent forest fires.” Following close behind with a hammer price of $3,200.00 was a Power-Lube Motor Oil porcelain sign. The sign displayed very well with a great tiger graphic and bold colors.
Along with all of the items for the auction on display, there were some additional items for their up and coming November 24, 2018 auction. The November auction will be held at their auction house located at 3097 East State Road 32, Crawfordsville, IN. 47933. A few of the featured pieces for the auction are a Buckeye Stages System Bus Depot porcelain sign. The sign depicts an amazing image of an early bus on both sides. An early Good Year Service Station tin sign is another stand out in the auction. The sign shows a detailed image of the iconic winged foot and is a very early piece of Good Year advertising. Another premier piece in the auction is a 72” Signal porcelain sign. The sign is single sided and shows a traffic signal in the center.
