Three Cars For A Great Cause: Ronald McDonald House Charities

Childhood illness is terrible in every way. It puts an emotional and financial strain on the family, aside the physical effects that the patients must endure. But since 1984, Ronald McDonald House of the Central Valley has been offering a respite for less fortunate families throughout the west. Located next to Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera, CA, we’ve been proud to support them for over a decade. What started as an experiment in fundraising with one car raffle has turned into a trifecta of epic proportions.

Three incredible automobiles will find new owners on December 15th, with all proceeds going to RMH. First up is a classic 1965 Corvette Convertible. Not only is it matching numbers, it is the first year of the 396 Big Block. Ready for NCRS or Bloomington judging, we helped them find a rare 4-speed beauty with a white convertible top. Every detail is correct, from side pipes to ignition shielding. Although the L78 engine is rated at 425 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque, modern dynos read closer to 450 hp. The original Holley 4-barrel carburetor is not choked by emissions regulations, and it works flawlessly. Even the red overspray on the exhaust manifolds is just like the assembly line so this Stingray would bring home the awards.

If you are looking for a fun replica at an affordable price, you should probably consider tickets for this brand new Backdraft RT3 Cobra. It has the best combination of classic styling and modern performance by utilizing BMW M3 independent suspension along with a 550 horsepower Roush 427R Crate Engine. Backdraft fabricates their chassis in Florida from laser-cut 2″x4″ steel with 1/8″ gussets at every corner. Coil-over shocks and cast aluminum control arms offer much less weight and better performance than the original cars, and the 11.6″ brakes are confident on the street. The transmission is a 5-speed TKO-600 with a deep overdrive for highway cruising. The interior is a classic design with modern instrumentation. A soft top is included for all-weather driving, but the Indigo blue paint with Wimbledon white stripes might not appreciate the rain. Big stainless side pipes are baffled to keep the cops happy, but the unmistakable sound will bring a smile to your face.

Last but not least is a brand new 2017 Corvette Z06. Equipped with every option from the Z07 performance package to Competition Seats, the eight-speed automatic is ready for track or street. The Z07 package replaces the 14.6″ steel rotors with 15.6″ carbon ceramics by Brembo. Carbon fiber rocker panels and spoilers force the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires into the pavement. In fact it has the most downforce of any car in GM history while also offering 23 mpg. The supercharged 6.2 liter LT4 delivers 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque to an electronic differential that can be custom tuned for the perfect drift. With a 0-60 time of 2.9 seconds it is one of the fastest American cars of all time, and the magnetic suspension offers a very comfortable experience.
