Widebody McLaren 650S Spider Being Auctioned

Mecum Auctions’ Los Angeles (February 16-17) event just got a lot wider with the announcement that they’ll be offering a one-off wide-body McLaren 650S Spider as a main attraction.

This auction listing (Lot S115.1), is a 2015 McLaren 650S Spider that has been modified to give it a more pronounced stature. The custom body panels installed on the supercar add to its width, meaning new Forgiato wheels had to be installed to make up for the difference in space. Together, the wheels and body panels combine to make this McLaren an appearance that is unlike any other 650S on the road.

Along with the aforementioned upgrades, this McLaren also has a few factory options included. On the outside is the optional Sport Exhaust, Carbon Fiber Exterior Upgrade Pack, Steal Pack, Elite Pearl White finish, and Vehicle Lifter. The cabin also received some love in the form of the Carbon Fiber Interior Upgrade.

In the rear of this McLaren is the same twin-turbo V8 engine found in its Coupe counterpart. With 641 bhp and 500 lb-ft of torque available at a moments notice, this 650S Spider will launch from 0-62 mph in just 3 seconds and 0-124 mph in 8.6 seconds. That’s just 0.2 seconds slower than the Coupe! Top speed? Expect to hit 204 mph. While we’re talking about speed, the top of the 650S Spider can be lowered or raised in 17 seconds, and drivers can do so while stationary or at speeds up to 19 mph.
