The luxury Swiss watchmakers at Audemars Piguet have embarked on a groundbreaking collaboration with American designer Matthew Williams, founder of the fashion brand 1017 ALYX 9SM. Marking the special partnership, the brands have launched four new Royal Oak and Royal Oak Offshore references, along with a piece uniqué Royal Oak. This collaboration reflects the strong connection that Audemars Piguet has cultivated with various creative domains, such as fashion. Matthew Williams's affinity for high-quality, innovative, and technical materials resonates with the watchmaker's dedication to detail and craftsmanship.
The collection is developed with a minimalist aesthetic that ranges from 37 to 42 mm, making these timepieces adaptable to all wrist types. Available in 18-carat yellow or white gold, they include two Royal Oak models and two Royal Oak Offshore models in various diameters. The design has been simplified to its essence, removing hour-markers and date apertures on the Royal Oak models to emphasize the satin-finishing on the gold dials. Limited editions of the two Royal Oak models are crafted entirely in 18-carat yellow gold, with one being a 37 mm selfwinding reference and the other a 41 mm selfwinding chronograph. The Royal Oak Offshore models, also limited editions, follow the same minimalist theme, retaining only essential details on the dial and are available in both 18-carat white or yellow gold
In addition to these collaboration models, a piece uniqué Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph, combining 18-carat yellow gold and stainless steel, will be auctioned during the collaboration's launch party on August 24 in Tokyo. The funds raised will support play-based learning initiatives for disadvantaged children through NGOs like Kids in Motion and Right to Play. The collaboration between Audemars Piguet and 1017 ALYX 9SM, blending the worlds of fashion and Haute Horlogerie, marks a significant milestone in the watchmaking industry.
