The Italian supercar icon takes on a LEGO look.

As the interest for anything automotive sparks at a young age, brand’s like LEGO aim to deliver a creative building experience that incorporates automotive inspiration. Being one of the most successful categories within its vast collection of buildable sets, LEGO is proud to introduce the Ferrari Build and Race experience at LEGOLAND California. At the new attraction, guests can virtually modify their own engines, tires, power, and aerodynamics. The cars are digitally scanned once fine-tuning is complete, where they appear in a virtual race at Ferrari’s iconic Fiorano Circuit at Maranello. Aside from all of the interactive attractions, the highlight of Ferrari Build and Race is a full-size LEGO Ferrari F40 that sits in the center of the three-event zones.

The LEGO version presents itself in size similar to the actual F40, which sits at 14 feet in length, more than six feet wide, four feet tall, and has a wheelbase of eight feet. With a complete construction time of 1,900-hours and 358,000 LEGO pieces, developing the LEGO Ferrari F40 took engineers and builders over 1,800-hours alone. The Ferrari F40 continues its legacy as an automotive icon, originally built in 1987 to celebrate the Italian supercar manufacturer’s 40th anniversary. The F40 is the last production vehicle under the hands of founder Enzo Ferrari, featuring a 2.9-Liter Twin-Turbocharged V8 that produces 471-horsepower to the rear wheels. Defining itself as a true driver’s car, the Ferrari F40 achieves its 4.1-second 0-60mph time and 201-mph top speed with motorsport-inspired performance. The one-of-a-kind LEGO Ferrari F40 is currently on display in the Ferrari Race and Build exhibit at LEGOLAND California.
