The gaming world’s favorite name in racing is back and driving in a new direction.

Need For Speed is known for being the franchise responsible for some of the world’s most iconic racing games, and over the years, the name has found itself representing all manners of racing and car subcultures. Some of the most loved Need For Speed games depict the world of underground street racing, with cars that have unique performance and visual customization that race with no rules around the city in illegal street races and as a result often get in intense police chases. The new upcoming Need For Speed title, Need For Speed Unbound, continues the franchise’s return to that form with a setting in the fictional Lakeshore City.

The story of the game involves a robbery at a family auto shop and a quest that requires racing skills to reclaim the car that was stolen. A unique new art style brings a vibrance to the game that is different than anything seen in Need For Speed before, and a special celebrity guest adds a fun new element as well: A$AP Rocky, an artist and icon in the music, fashion, and entertainment world, with a legendary and heavily customized Mercedes-Benz 190 E that EA says you might be able to take for a spin yourself. Style plays a huge role in the game, with hundreds of cosmetic items that EA says come from “some of the world’s pioneering fashion innovators” as well as new Driving Effects that help you make your mark on the roads of Lakeshore City.

The game is available to pre-order now, and launches for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC on December 2 for $69.99. For $79.99, the Need For Speed Unbound Palace Edition adds content created in collaboration with Palace Skateboards, with four custom cars, a clothing pack, special driving effects, decals and license plates, character pose, and banner artwork. For EA Play members, a 10-hour trial is available on November 29, and EA Play Pro members get unlimited access to the Palace Edition on November 29. EA promises free content updates after the game’s launch and more exciting details will be revealed soon.
