PUMA’s new motorsport collection honors an iconic BMW Art Car.
Since the mid-70s, the BMW brand has always been a supporter of art through creative collaborations that allow artists to completely redesign the look of iconic models using their own vision and style. Along with memorable examples like the 1975 Calder’s BMW Art Car and Andy Warhol’s BMW M1 Art Car, passion projects such as Roy Lichtenstein’s BMW racecar design are continuing to be celebrated by the motorsports world and its fans. In honor of the 100th anniversary of the legendary American Pop artist, PUMA and BMW M Motorsport are joining forces to pay homage to Roy Lichtenstein’s “Ben-Day dots” artwork.
The collection consists of head-to-toe styles, featuring a jacket, pants, tee, cap, and PUMA suede motorsport sneakers, each designed to showcase the vibrant design elements inspired by Lichtenstein’s BMW 320i Turbo Art Car. The visual language of “Ben Day dots” and its vivid color palette come together to create the same striking and memorable ensemble as the racecar itself. The Art Car Collection by Roy Lichtenstein from PUMA and BMW M Motorsport is set to be a collector’s dream, now available in selected PUMA stores and online.
