Newly Listed $21 Million Private Island Mansion Perfect for Social Distancing

A private island home featured on HGTV’s “Island Hunters,” The Lodge at Strum Island hit the market earlier this month at a whopping $21 million. The extravagant price may be due to the commanding 10,000-square-foot stone estate home. Or, it may be due to the private ten-acre island on which is resides.

Gracious spaces and breathtaking views abound at The Lodge, which features six ensuite bedrooms, a powder room and a master chef’s kitchen with a huge center island. A fourth-floor observation tower offers 360-degree views of the surrounding ocean and a lighthouse-inspired Widow’s Walk is above the tower.

The home was designed for self-sustainability in its secluded location. It is equipped with its own sources of power, heat, food and water, and can house residents for more than a year without ever having to leave the island. The current owner revitalized the landscape with native vegetation and greenhouses. To protect from erosion, a new seawall was built around the entire island.

Access to the island is available via air or sea, as the land incorporates a helipad and 105-foot wharf. Plenty of staff quarters are also available, in addition to a private getaway on the island – the Rose Hut – complete with a hot tub and never-ending views.
