The 3D Printed De Rosa SK Pininfarina Racing Bicycle

Pininfarina has announced another partnership in the world of transportation, but owning this creation will demand a little more leg work than most of their designs do.

On Aug. 26, Pininfarina joined De Rosa, an Italian creator of fine bicycles, at Eurobike, Germany’s bicycle trade fair, to announce their partnership and new creation. The De Rosa SK Pininfarina was introduced the same day as the partnership, showing an absolutely stunning racing bike embodying the design ideals of both companies.

A press release issued by Pininfarina the same day shared some of the information behind this collaboration, as well as the reasons driving the two companies together. As they call it, it’s the “perfect synthesis of two icons of Made-in-Italy excellence,” and excellent it certainly is.

Sleek, streamlined and designed to eliminate as much drag as possible, the De Rosa SK Pininfarina racing bicycle is available in different sizes and colors, all crafted from carbon. An “ultra-precision 3-D printing” process combined with the use of “a special resin” helped ensure the frame of the bike is both as stiff and as light weight as possible. But in ensuring that stiffness, comfort has not been sacrificed.

Of course, such a creation could be expected from the collaboration of two companies that so clearly embody the same values: “family-owned business traditions, a passion for innovation, incessant search for better performance, artisanal production methods and attention to detail, love for beauty and design.”
