Nine Supecars Create Epic Half Mile Drag Race

If you live your life a quarter-mile at a time, you should probably stop reading. Half-mile and standing mile events are gaining popularity as an alternative to the traditional 1,320 ft of entertainment. We thought we had seen the world’s greatest drag race last week, but this new format is fun to watch.

Eight contenders were matched into pairs as evenly as possible, with each duo running a best out of three to eliminate driver error. A Porsche GT3 RS showed up to compete. McLaren was the only double team with the 570 S and 675 LT. Italy was represented by a Ferrari F12berlinetta, Lamborghini Huracan and Aventador SV. Only 100 examples of the Aston Martin GT12 were produced, but it still made an appearance and the vicious Vantage sounds imposing. Last but not least the Mercedes-AMG GT S was unassuming and surprising.
