Audemars Piguet

The special edition Royal Oak that belongs in every AP collection.

The Royal Oak stands out as Audemars Piguet’s most iconic model, with countless examples and variations showcasing the sports model’s functionality as an everyday luxury timepiece. The Royal Oak was originally designed by Gérald Genta in 1970, after waking from a dream to quickly sketch out the unique shapes from his memory. Audemars Piguet is proud to celebrate 50-years of research and development of the ‘Jumbo’ Royal Oak with a commemorative limited-edition release. The all-new Royal Oak Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon Extra-Thin (RD#3) is the first of its kind to feature a complex movement within its 39mm stainless-steel anniversary case design.

The simplistic dial design of the Royal Oak presents a ‘Bleu Nuit’ Petite Trapisserie finish that includes an opening at the 6 o’clock position to showcase its elegant tourbillon in action. Delivering power to operate its time-only functions is Audemars Piguet’s in-house self-winding Caliber 2968 movement, featuring 226-parts and an impressive 50-hour power reserve. The Royal Oak Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon Extra-Thin features a central oscillating weight that bears the “50-years” logo and the Audemars Piguet signature engraved on its surface. Tying into the historic lineage of the Royal Oak, Audemars Piguet fits each of the special edition examples with an iconic stainless-steel bracelet and AP folding clasp. The highly-anticipated Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon Extra-Thin (RD#3) is currently available through an authorized dealer.
