Bulgari ventures to open waters with its newest special edition GMT.

As a true traveler’s watch that withstands the stresses of constant use, the GMT holds a special place in the hearts of watchmakers throughout the industry. The idea behind efficiently keeping accurate time of multiple time zones began at the hands of watchmaking’s founding father John Harrison, who developed a marine chronometer in the early 18th century to decipher the time of the day between shipping ports. Decades later, the luxury watch experts at Bulgari are proud to offer a modern version of the classic GMT as part of its Aluminum Collection. Bulgari is excited to debut the new Aluminum GMT Amerigo Vespucci in honor of the great Italian naval ship that now resides in La Spezia, Italy.

The Aluminum GMT takes shape in a 40mm case design made exclusively from aluminum, which features a matte black fixed rubber bezel with ‘Bulgari’ meticulously engraved around its surface. The inner bezel showcases a black and yellow split finish, a nod to the iconic colors of the Amerigo Vespucci ship. An in-house B192 automatic-winding movement drives power to the special edition GMT, highlighting a 26-jewel construction that holds an impressive 50-hour power reserve. The covered backcase includes commemorative ‘Nave Scuola Amerigo Vespucci’ engravings to signify the limited 1,000-piece release from Bulgari. Made to survive long distant marine travels, Bulgari adds a robust black rubber strap with the brand’s logo proudly stamped on each side. The all-new Bulgari Aluminum GMT Amerigo Vespucci is currently available online or through an author dealer for $3,950.
