Consistent with the values of Carl F. Bucherer, part of the proceeds will be donated to the Manta Trust charity.

As dive watches continue to grow in popularity aside other timepiece styles like chronographs, we start by taking a deep dive on the significance behind the iconic design. Originally used as a tool for divers taking on the depths of the ocean, modern-day watch brands are beginning to commemorate the seas and its creatures with limited-edition examples. The timepiece specialists at Carl F. Bucherer are proud to showcase the Patravi Scubatec Black Manta Special Edition, its newest diver’s watch with inspiration from the manta ray. Focusing on the next generation, Carl F. Bucherer partnered with Manta Trust foundation in 2013 to help support a sustainable future for the ocean and its manta ray population. Guy Stevens, CEO of Manta Trust, remarks: “Thanks to the kind support of Carl F. Bucherer, this year the Manta Trust will be able to launch an exciting, explorative research project to gain new insight into the movement patterns and behavior of manta rays in the Yucatán Peninsula. Increasing our understanding of this little-studied species will enable us to introduce more effective regional protection.”

The new Patravi Scubatec Black Manta features a 44.6mm DLC-coated titanium case, with a rotating bezel and automatic helium valve to withstand its impressive 500-meter water resistance. A black dial configuration highlights the shape of two manta rays by discolor each figure using a lighter shade of brown. The indicators and hand present themselves in a bright white finish to make its functions easier to decipher while in darker environments. Supplying power to the Patravi Scubatec Black Manta is Carl F. Bucherer’s in-house CFB 1950.1 automatic movement, which drives its power reserve (38 hours), COSC-certified chronometer, date, hour, minute, and second functions. Its titanium covered backcase includes detailed engravings of a manta ray swimming, along with commemorative etchings on the outer case that signify the special release. Adding to its functional design as an everyday tool watch, Carl F. Bucherer fits each model with a rubber strap that incorporates a recycled PET textile layer and DLC-coated titanium diving folding clasp. The all-new Carl F. Bucherer Patravi Scubatec Black Manta Special Edition is currently available through an authorized dealer for $7,900.
