Useful functions and features equip these timepieces to go the distance, while robust and durable materials — and housemade movements — withstand the toughest of elements.

Grand Seiko

Commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Spring Drive model, the newest Grand Seiko Spring Drive Chronograph GMT, priced at $11,000, finds inspiration in the mountain town of Shizukuishi, Japan, where these watches are made. Crafted of high-intensity titanium, the watch case is rugged and resistant to scratches. The Spring Drive movement offers extreme accuracy in chronograph timing, and a dual-curved sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating reduces glare.

Panerai

An automatic P.900-caliber mechanical movement powers the Panerai Submersible Azzurro, designed for professional divers. Water-resistant up to 300 meters, the stainless-steel timepiece features a ceramic dive bezel with a graduated scale. The bezel turns counterclockwise to avoid accidental ratcheting. Luminous hour markers and dots make for easy underwater reading, and a rubber strap keeps the watch in place. It’s an online exclusive for $9,800.

Casio

Like its name insinuates, the $800 G-Shock Mudmaster GWG2000-1A1 resists mud and other elements, including shock. It features a high-tech forged carbon bezel and case structure with steel pipes and silicone buffers, making for a compact design. Triple-sensor measurements include compass, altitude, barometric pressure, and temperature indications and heavy-duty rubber grips make for easy operation. It syncs with atomic timekeeping, and double LED lights ensure readability.
