With Extreme E continuing its kickoff as a worldwide electric race series, its next Hydo X Prix preps to compete in a former opencast coal mine site in Scotland. As the official timekeeper of Extreme E, Zenith is celebrating the second race of the 2023 season with a special edition version of its ever-popular DEFY chronograph. The new Zenith DEFY Extreme E Edition ‘Hydro X Prix’ showcases a 45mm crafted entirely from lightweight carbon fiber, a key material used on the Extreme E off-road race cars. Hints of Extreme E’s signature ‘Vital Green’ is incorporated into the skeletonized dial, which lines the inner tachymeter bezel and chronograph sub-dials.

Zenith developed its El Primero 9004 as its most rugged movement yet, tried and tested in the most extreme conditions and environments that Extreme E has provided. The matching carbon fiber backcase offers an up-close view of the inner workings of the DEFY through a sapphire crystal window, revealing Zenith’s famous star-pattern rotor. Zenith fits the newest DEFY with Vital Green and black rubber velcro strap made from recycled race tires. The Zenith DEFY Extreme E ‘ Hydro X Prix’ is limited to only 100 pieces and is currently available through authorized dealers for $30,100.
