At long last, a new body style for the iconic BMW M3 has arrived.
In the 50 years that BMW’s M division has been making its mark on the world of automotive performance, the M3 has been one of its most iconic creations. For years, a version of the M3 has been hinted at that would take the form of the Touring body style of the BMW 3 Series. Finally, it’s here and fully unveiled, the first-ever BMW M3 Touring, joining the M3 Sedan, and the M4 Coupé and Convertible, ready to make its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. It’s anything but secretive about its performance potential, with a large vertical BMW kidney grille, side air intakes, and big, aggressive wheel arches. However, as we know to be the case with the BMW M3, the new Touring model promises both the M3’s bark and its bite.

The straight-six engine in the M3 Competition models produces an incredible 510 horsepower and 479 lb/ft of torque, serving as the basis for the engine featured in the BMW M4 GT3 race car, and it features an exhaust system with electronically controlled flaps that makes driving the car an exhilarating experience in sound as well as feeling. With all of this in mind, the BMW M3 Competition Touring with M xDrive gets from 0-60 in less than 3.6 seconds and climbs to a top speed of either 155 or 174 mph with the M Driver’s Package. Optional carbon-ceramic brakes, staggered 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels which can be optionally wrapped in track tires and driving modes for any situation make the new M3 Touring a versatile, dynamic, and well-rounded performance machine.
The Touring body style and BMW’s luxury know-how make the M3 Touring able to do more than just drive fast, however. The body style makes for a car that’s just as impressive for everyday use as it is for thrills, with a standard BMW Curved Display touchscreen, optional head-up display, three full-size back seats, room for plenty of luggage, and three-zone automatic climate control. The new BMW M3 Touring is the formidable world-class performance car that’s just as prepared for the track as it is for daily life. Production will start at the BMW Group Plant in Munich In November 2022, after orders commence in September.
