The new 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class was revealed at the beginning of the year and it’s production has just started, a few months later. Production is being accomplished by Magna Steyr (automobile manufacturer) in Graz, Austria for Mercedes. That may seem odd to a few that another company is producing cars for Mercedes-Benz, but Magna Steyr has actually be producing the G-Class since 1979. Because of their history with the G-Class and knowledge regarding the SUV, it only makes sense that they produce the new model.
The 2019 G-Class brings forth a new generation of the famous SUV. Mercedes did a fantastic job of breathing new life into the overall design of the G-Class while still maintaining the overall iconic look. Major changes include new headlights, taillights, and a new body that’s 2.1-inches longer and 4.8-inches wider.
“With the model change the new G-Class experienced the biggest transformation in its 39 years-old history,” says Gunnar Güthenke, Head of the Off-Road Product Group at Mercedes-Benz. “At the same time we have kept the familiar and popular features of the design icon and further optimised the ‘G’ where ride comfort and robustness are concerned.”
