992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Price, Specs, Photos & Review

by Tyler Rampersaud
September 16, 2024
in 911, Porsche News

The pinnacle of Porsche’s race-ready 911 is back with a vengeance.

With the revolutionarily improved performance of the 992 generation of the Porsche 911 GT3, enthusiasts, drivers, and collectors worldwide were shocked. Innovations like the swan-neck wing, more lightweight construction than before, and the incredible 502 horsepower squeezed out of the naturally-aspirated 4.0-liter boxer-6 engine Porsche gave the 911 GT3 meant that on our hands was the best Porsche 911 GT3 yet. But naturally, it’s human to want more, and as soon as we learned about the Porsche 992 911 GT3, we wanted to know just how ferocious the 2023 992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS would be, and now, we have found out with the long-awaited reveal of the new 911 GT3 RS. For the 2025 model year, the new 992.2 generation of the Porsche 911 has been unveiled, and while the 911 GT3 RS has continued production, it’s currently the only way to get your hands on a GT Porsche 992 991, as the Porsche 911 GT3 has not yet been announced for the 992.2 generation, but the Porsche 911 992.1 GT3 RS is still available.

992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Price

The price of the new 992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS starts at $241,300, which is significantly more expensive than its GT3 counterpart. Here in the United States, the GT3 MSRP started at $161,100. Since the new RS version makes use of much more carbon fiber, is much more powerful, and is more technologically advanced as a whole, The 992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS price will cost quite a bit more if you want to unequivocally dominate the track, and even more if you want the Weissach Package on a 992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS for sale that adds tons of exposed carbon-fiber to the exterior, as well as experience more precise-feeling gear changes with magnet technology in the PDK shift paddles.

992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Review

When compared to the already-incredible 992 Porsche 911 GT3 specs, the 992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS review is simply more. The swan-neck wing is much bigger and much more dramatic, and the body features more, bigger, and more detailed vents, fins, and aerodynamics. More than 1,500 simulations and 250 hours in the wind tunnel means that the downforce, even compared to the 992.1 GT3, is tripled. The front wing is fully active and can rotate by as much as 80 degrees, and the hood outlet pushes the air to the sides, where it is further pushed by the fins on the roof. The swan-neck-mounted wing, which reaches higher than the roof of the car features both a fixed panel and an active panel, and like an F1 car, the 911 GT3 RS features a Drag Reduction System (DRS) for maximum speed. In addition, Porsche achieved the impossible by making the 992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS horsepower even more than it was before.

992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Specs

Because of the incredible power of the 911 GT3’s engine, Porsche focused on aerodynamics and weight reduction in the new GT3 RS to make the 992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS specs even better than the GT3 counterpart. It features more carbon fiber than ever, even going to the doors, which saves around 10 pounds by switching materials. Even still, Porsche was able to work 16 more horsepower out of the 4.0-liter boxer-6, so the 992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS horsepower is 518 compared to the GT3’s 502 horsepower. On a long straight on your favorite race track, the 992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS top speed is 184 mph, and when coming out of a tight corner, the 992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 0-60 is just 3 seconds flat. While the 992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 1/4 mile time is just 10.9 seconds, the car has proved its ability in one of the most respectable ways the automotive industry knows: the 992 GT3 RS Nürburgring lap time is 6:44.848. Bringing all that power to a stop are the 992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS brakes, which are thicker and larger brake discs at the front, with 6-piston aluminum monoblock fixed calipers. Also available are Porsche’s Ceramic Composite Brakes, with 16-inch front discs and 15-inch rear discs. The car comes standard with light-alloy center-locking wheels, which are 20 inches at the front and 21 inches at the back, wrapped in incredibly grippy street-legal yet racing-ready Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, sized 275/35 R20 at the front and 335/30 R21 at the back.

992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Engine

Porsche, by some engineering miracle, manages to squeeze even more incredible amounts of power out of the 992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS engine, which is a boxer-6 4.0-liter naturally aspirated unit. That’s right, this car makes no use of turbochargers or superchargers, as is ever so common in the automotive world, especially when it comes to high-performance vehicles. All on its own, the 992 GT3 RS makes 518 horsepower, and it does so in part by going all the way up to a screaming 9,000 rpm.

992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Transmission

Because of all the power and racing-ready performance of the new 992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS, the car makes use of a 7-speed PDK that any driver will be able to keep up with on the track. It shifts lightning quick and allows for the driver to reach the car’s full potential without having to be an expert. Of course, a manual would be tons of fun, but the performance of the car, as with many cars at this echelon of performance, is best handled with the 992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS transmission, and the PDK was wisely chosen by its engineers.

992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Interior

Here, you’ll find that the 992 generation of the Porsche 992 GT3 RS is purely designed for the track. You’ll find that the seats are incredibly lightweight and make use of microfiber cloth, and the steering wheel features unprecedented levels of adjustment, from the suspension to the differential to something you would usually only find in a race car: a traction control setting with 7 different positions, and the ability to turn it completely off. You won’t find the 992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS interior easy to use on the road, as Porsche has eliminated the front cargo area in favor of aerodynamics, and the standard-featured Clubsport package on the car involves the installation of a fire extinguisher, and in most markets, a roll cage.

992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Standout Features

It seems there’s no limit to what Porsche will do in the name of speed. With a fully-active front wing and a swan-neck wing that absolutely dwarfs the one featured on the current 911 GT3, Porsche went all-out with aerodynamics. The enormous rear wing features a fixed panel and one that is active to configure downforce needs when they are most necessary and guide air flowing over the car to go exactly where it needs to. From front to back, features like the front fender vents, roof-mounted fins, and more make sure no air that comes in contact with the new GT3 RS hinders it performance. Available with the Weissach package, you can save nearly 18 more pounds of weight by opting for forged magnesium wheels. The car also features an F1-like Drag Reduction system for incredible speed on any track’s straightaways, and features like suspension that’s more adjustable than ever to be one of if not the best handling and performing roadgoing Porsche 911 ever.

What are the differences between the Porsche 911 GT3 and the Porsche 911 GT3 RS?

The 992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS expanded on the performance achievements of the already formidable 992 Porsche 911 GT3. The high-downforce, aerodynamically-efficient swan-neck wing has been improved to be larger for greater downforce, and active to adapt to various on-track situations. In addition, the engine is more powerful, and the car is more lightweight, resulting in a faster, more agile vehicle overall.

How much does a Porsche 911 GT3 RS cost?

The MSRP of a new 992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS starts at $241,300, plus the cost of options like the Weissach Package, Paint to Sample, and others. However, if you’re looking to score one of these ultra-exclusive high-performance cars on the second-hand market, examples are available, albeit for a premium. 992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS examples for sale second hand often cost upwards of $400,000.

Is the Porsche 911 Turbo S or the 911 GT3 RS faster?

With its more powerful twin-turbocharged engine and all-wheel drive, the Porsche 911 Turbo S is faster in a straight line and boasts supercar-like qualities. However, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS is aimed at drivers seeking a purist-focused, track-ready driver’s car experience. The car features a naturally-aspirated engine, lightweight construction, and impressive aerodynamics, making it a marvel on challenging circuits and winding roads.
