Bentley brings its W12 grand finale to fruition.
To usher in the new electrified era of high-performance luxury, Bentley has officially retired its former flagship 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged W12 engine. However, to send it off properly, Bentley introduced a pair of limited-edition coachbuilt masterpieces from Mulliner: the Batur and the Batur Convertible. The 16 examples of the Bentley Batur Convertible will be the final Bentleys built with W12 engines, and they are set to hit the road very soon.
That’s because the development of Bentley Batur Convertible cars is now in testing, and they are embarking on a development program that consists of 120 individual tests over more than a year. The testing program has been kicked off with a drive of over 1,800 miles from Germany to Spain, ahead of high-speed testing at the Idiada proving ground.
The testing program will ensure that the coachbuilt, collector-grade, ultra-exclusive, and ultra-rare Bentley Batur Convertible won’t just be a jewel of automotive excellence for the world’s most high-profile garages but also a worthy performer and a vehicle that delivers the ultimate W12 Bentley grand touring driving experience. The Batur Convertible will be a unique coachbuilt vehicle with all the luxury Bentley vehicles typically offer, including a top that folds in 19 seconds at speeds up to 30 mph.
With its extensive development program beginning, Bentley is ensuring that the Batur Convertible won’t just be a stunning collector’s piece of automotive excellence, and a grand finale to its flagship twin-turbocharged W12 engine, but also a well-tested and robust grand touring masterpiece with a thrilling and luxurious driving experience.
