Audi comes closer to unveiling a new production electric sports car.
The September unveiling of the Audi Concept C was the anticipated and exciting preview of a new era for the celebrated luxury manufacturer, and better yet, Audi showed the gorgeous all-electric roadster design, inspired by past Audi icons, and said that it previewed a future production car. Audi fans have been missing a pure sports car since the discontinuations of two beloved performance models: the R8 and the TT, and a production car based on the Concept C’s design would serve as a successor.
Now, Audi has shown that the Concept C is a street-legal concept, and it’s a preview of the future of Audi design, and of an upcoming all-electric sports car. Its classically inspired proportions, minimalist design, and elegant luxury finishes hint at a refined design language for Audi’s future crop of sports cars, with cutting-edge technology and irreplaceable visceral driving joy combined in one package.
The interior features both haptic and digital controls for simplicity and ease of use, as well as a foldable 10.4-inch display that hides until it needs to be activated, allowing for a simplistic, aesthetically pleasing interior that is uninterrupted. Audi cites cars like the C6 RS 6, the TT, the R8, and more for inspiring the Concept C design, meaning that when the upcoming production version heralds the future of Audi’s all-electric performance cars, Audi’s rich past and iconic historical models will remain as important benchmarks and inspirations.
