The Pastejé Automotive Invitational saw a spectacular array of hypercars and exotics in Mexico this past weekend. The invitation-only gathering saw more than 300 collector cars across five categories, and has grown considerably since its first running in 2019. Among them were some true heavyweights of the exotic car world, including the likes of the McLaren F1, Ferrari F40, McLaren Speedtail, Zagato Capricorn 01, Hennessey Venom F5, Czinger 21C and Aston Martin Valhalla, to name a few, although one new arrival saw plenty of attention from the crowds. Officially unveiled back in February 2024 and later making its first public dynamic appearance at MIMO in 2025, Pagani created the R Evo for its Arte in Pista customer track program, which lets owners experience these machines outside the constraints of road homologation or competitive racing regulations at some of the world’s most prominent race tracks. This particular example is #6 of 35, a detail confirmed by the numbered plaque carrying Horacio Pagani's signature. The car’s specification combines metallic silver bodywork with extensive exposed carbon fiber and turquoise detailing across the front aero elements, mirrors, wheels, side skirts, rear bodywork, diffuser, and massive rear wing. The color combination is reminiscent of the Petronas colors associated with Mercedes-AMG’s Formula 1 cars. Its 203.9-inch Codalunga or longtail body, which takes inspiration from racers of the 1950s and 60s, extends the aerodynamic surfaces by 101 mm upfront and 190 mm at the rear, helping generate 45 percent more downforce than the original Huayra R, while aerodynamic efficiency improves by 21 percent. Pagani developed the naturally aspirated 6.0-liter V12-R Evo with German motorsport firm HWA AG, which puts out 900 horsepower and 568 pound-feet of torque, with power going to the rear wheels through a six-speed sequential transmission, while this track weapon weighs just 2,337 pounds dry and has a claimed 218 mph top speed. The Roadster configuration also has an unlikely origin, with Horacio Pagani finding inspiration in IndyCars. That ultimately influenced the R Evo's protective polycarbonate surfaces and removable twin roof panels, while removing those panels surprisingly increases total downforce by another five percent. For Don Huayra, the R Evo represents another significant addition to an already remarkable collection, while also capturing something increasingly difficult to find at this end of the market. Pagani has created a modern hypercar where the experience still revolves around a naturally aspirated engine, low weight, and the relationship between driver and machine.
