Audi’s electric grand tourer is now in its second generation.
With the rapid pace of electrification throughout the automotive industry, it doesn’t feel like it’s been long since many of the cutting-edge electric vehicles on the road today came on the scene. Still, many have been around for years already and are coming back refreshed and revived, and the new Audi e-tron GT is the next to undergo an evolution. Introduced in 2021, the four-door grand tourer showed Audi’s ability to create a luxurious electric vehicle with compelling performance and fun-to-drive character.
The new generation of the Audi RS e-tron GT is poised to take that philosophy to the next level. Expanding from just two variants, there are now three variants: the Audi S e-tron GT, the Audi RS e-tron GT, and the new Audi RS e-tron GT performance, the first all-electric RS performance model from Audi. The entire refreshed model lineup aims to improve on the performance, range, charging, and handling standards set by the first generation.
The new Audi S e-tron GT combines elegance with sporty driving characteristics, boasting 670 horsepower and the ability to get from 0-60 in just 3.4 seconds. Meanwhile, the RS e-tron GT features a more aggressive look, with 844 horsepower, getting from 0-60 in 2.8 seconds. However, the RS e-tron GT performance is the most powerful production car Audi has ever built, with 912 horsepower and a 0-60 time of just 2.5 seconds. Setting it apart are options like a dark matte carbon fiber roof and other carbon fiber accents throughout.
All of the new models benefit from dual-motor all-wheel drive and a lighter battery that features more energy density. This, in conjunction with improved regenerative braking efficiency, increases the driving range to as much as 378 miles. In addition, improved charging technology means that the new Audi e-tron GT lineup boasts the ability to charge from 10 to 80 percent in as little as 18 minutes in ideal conditions, taking as little as 10 minutes to gain 174 miles of driving range.
Power isn’t the only performance-oriented aspect in which the new Audi e-tron GT excels. Active suspension offers a range of driving modes for various conditions, boasting smooth rides and incredible stability during intense maneuvers. The S e-tron GT offers one customizable driving mode, the RS e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT performance offers two customizable modes: RS 1 and RS 2, and the RS e-tron GT performance exclusively offers a mode for tackling tricky racing circuits. All-wheel steering also improves the handling of the Audi e-tron GT lineup, with the rear wheels turning in the opposite direction as the front wheels to increase maneuverability at low speeds and turning in the same direction as the front wheels for better stability at high speeds. The system reduces the e-tron GT’s turning radius by nearly two feet.
With an expanded lineup, greatly increased performance, and driving characteristics that match some of the greatest cutting-edge performance vehicles, the new Audi e-tron GT generation further cements the already celebrated model’s status as a formidable all-electric luxury performance offering. The new RS e-tron GT performance takes Audi’s ability to make hot-blooded EVs to the next level. With more technology and innovation than ever, Audi is at the forefront of an exciting, electrified automotive future.
