The Bentley W12’s grand finale is here.
Last year, Bentley opened a new chapter in its storied history when it announced the retirement of its former flagship W12 engine. Replaced by a 771-horsepower powertrain combining a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 with a hybrid system, the W12 served for over 20 years as Bentley’s flagship powertrain, and was sent off with a series of ultra-exclusive coachbuilt models. These were the Bacalar, an open-top barchetta, the Batur, a stunning coupe, and the Batur Convertible, the open-top version of the Batur and the official send-off of the W12.
Recently, at a launch event in Dubai, the new Batur Convertible, which is limited to just 16 examples, made its public debut. Each will be co-created with Bentley’s Mulliner bespoke and coachbuilding department, and each will represent one of the final W12-powered Bentley examples ever made. The Batur Convertible Engineering Car, the example shown in Dubai, showcases the potential of Mulliner customization available to Batur Convertible owners, with its stunning use of colors and materials.
The exterior of the car is finished in Midnight Emerald with accents in glossy exposed carbon fiber. Meanwhile, the grille matrix provides more contrast with its gradient from Mandarin to Beluga, along with a distinctive Batur Racing Stripe and an interior finished in Cumbrian Green and Porpoise leather with Mandarin contrast stitching. The veneers feature a unique “guitar fade” effect, as well. Not only is the new Bentley Batur Convertible ultra-exclusive and collector-worthy, but it is also an opportunity to take advantage of Mulliner’s virtually limitless customization potential to create a truly unique automotive statement.
