Cape Advanced Vehicles to Unveil GT40 Successor on Le Mans Anniversary

South African coachbuilder Cape Advanced Vehicles will reveal a new supercar on June 18, timing the debut to coincide with the 60th anniversary of Ford's historic 1-2-3 finish at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans. The company, which has manufactured GT40 restomods since 1999, says that the project is a ground-up successor to the original Ford GT40 race car. The vehicle rides on an aluminium and carbon fibre monocoque chassis, with the roof and A-pillars fully integrated into the passenger cell and front and rear subframes handling structural loads at each end. CAV is targeting two power outputs for the mid-engine platform. A naturally aspirated V8 version is expected to produce 500 horsepower, while a forced-induction variant targets 800 horsepower. The company has not confirmed final specifications or pricing ahead of the reveal. Both liveries carry direct historical significance to the Le Mans victory that ended Ferrari's dominance at the race. They reference the Ford GT40s that locked out the podium at the Circuit de la Sarthe in 1966, with the black No. 2 and light blue No. 1 race numbers visible in teaser material released by the company.  Structural details released by CAV show carbon fibre tail light housings mounted on CNC-lasercut marine-grade aluminium cantilevers, with door structures also built from aluminium pending final homologation requirements. The company states that all components shown in teaser material are already in production and undergoing real-world testing. Cape Advanced Vehicles takes its name from Ford Advanced Vehicles, the original manufacturer of the GT40 racing cars established in 1963, and has produced four generations of GT40 restomods across more than two decades of operation. The reveal event is scheduled in Cape Town on June 18, 2026, with further details on pricing and exact production numbers to follow. Watch this space. A classic white Ghost Mustang Fastback parked outdoors on a dirt surface, with trees and a wooden fence in the background—a nod to modern muscle and Roush Performance heritage.

E.C.D.’s Bespoke '67 Ghost Mustang Fastback Gets A Dose O...

Equal part heritage and high-tech, a new kind of classic Mustang has just hit the scene. This is the ‘67 Ghost, a custom 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback, the first in a new line of heritage muscle from E.C.D. Automotive Design. Headquartered at a 100,000 square-foot facility in Kissimmee, Florida, E.C.D. has built its reputation in the restomod community and beyond for its meticulous restorations of classic Land Rovers and E-Type Jaguars since 2013.  While a restomod typically means retro-throwback without the retro-drawbacks, with this particular project, E.C.D. is doing something different, particularly when it comes to the powertrain. Instead of an electric conversion or just dropping a crate engine, the company is partnering with legendary Ford tuner, Roush Performance, to redefine and reawaken the classic small-block from the blue oval. What this means is that the ‘67 Ghost retains the DNA and character of Detroit Muscle from the 1960s, but with modern durability.  “This is the beginning of what we’re calling a Mustang stampede. '67 Ghost represents the next evolution of what E.C.D. stands for — bespoke design, authentic powertrains, and best-in-class craftsmanship. We’re offering something no one else is doing: classic Ford muscle, reborn with modern Roush engineering."- Scott Wallace, CEO of E.C.D. Automotive Design. Under the vented hood beats the heart of a stroked and injected small-block Roush IR V8 that puts out 465 horsepower. That’s nearly double the output of an original Hi-Po 289 V8, which, for context, delivered 271 horsepower. The result is a Mustang that’s not just louder and faster, but also one that’s smoother, safer, and far more usable. The upgrades don’t stop at the powertrain. A Roadster Shop RS Spec Chassis with adjustable Fox coilovers underpins this muscle car, which enhances road manners without sacrificing comfort.  Visually, while the ‘67 Ghost remains faithful to pony cars of old with a high-gloss Mineral White paint and Santorini Black rally stripes, the 17-inch chrome Rambler wheels on Nitto NT555 tires and red 4-piston brake calipers add some visual drama. Inside, heated black leather Recaro seats with tan diamond stitching, a Grant Classic Steering, and brushed aluminium dash exude retro-luxury, whereas features like Apple CarPlay, JBL sound system, remote start, and a digital rear-view mirror add modern-day convenience. With future E.C.D. classic Mustang builds (1965-70 model years, Fastback and Convertible) already in the pipeline, some nodding to Shelby and Boss legends, turning their attention to this American muscle car icon marks a new chapter for the company. With every bespoke build at E.C.D., possibilities are truly endless, and if the ‘67 Ghost is any indication, there’s a lot to be excited about. View E.C.D. First Look: LOKI Basecamp Icarus

Presented by LOKI Basecamp – LOKI Basecamp, maker of premier four-season pods that transform a stock pickup truck into the ultimate adventure vehicle, is proud to release its second model, the Icarus, into the wild.  The new slide-in camper retains the same four-season capabilities and all the basic comforts and functions of the Falcon but condenses it into a smaller, and lighter package that’s more agile and easier to drive while overlanding. The modular interior design is carried over from the Falcon, allowing users to customize the interior to suit their needs, be it sports, leisure, or field office.  Discover LOKI Basecamp Icarus LOKI Basecamp “We designed the Icarus with a philosophy of no compromises” said founder and CEO Pierre-Mathieu Roy. “We wanted a four-season unit that was light enough for easy driving both on and off-road, and it needed to be strong enough to carry all of our outdoor toys on the exterior rack system” continued Roy.  LOKI Basecamp The reengineered and reinforced fiberglass shell adds the structural support requested by Roy and it boasts R16 insulation, making it suitable for use in all four seasons. A Webasto Heating Unit supplies hot air and water, and A/C is powered by a 12v air conditioner. A 2,000-watt inverter is up to the task of charging the onboard 300ah to 600ah Lithium battery bank, and rooftop solar panels can supply up to an additional 300w of energy. The Icarus also boasts an on-board water pump, a 15-gallon fresh water tank and 13-gallon grey water tank. The exterior is adorned with an up to 48,000 Lumen light bar on the front, and utility LED lights on the sides and rear as well as a retractable awning. Like the Falcon, the Icarus also has a modular exterior rack system that can be configured to carry a wide range of sporting goods.  LOKI Basecamp The interior has room for a full bed over the cab, hidden storage for a portable toilet, and a multi-function seating and table area that can be reconfigured to make room for an additional bed. The kitchenette features a stainless-steel sink and a mobile induction cooktop. Remaining interior space is dedicated to a mudroom with a mobile shower. That precious real estate can also be used to hang wet clothing or for additional seating. LOKI Basecamp Later this year it will be possible to add a Red Tail Overland structure on the roof of the Icarus, transforming it into a penthouse with a full 4 season bed. The Icarus is available in two models: the Icarus 6 will fit trucks with 6.5-foot beds and the Icarus 8 is for larger trucks with 8-foot beds. Prices start at $69,000, with many custom options available. LOKI Basecamp is currently accepting pre-orders with a $5,000 deposit through its website at www.lokibasecamp.com. Once finished, the Icarus will be hand-delivered and installed for customers in North America. LOKI Basecamp: The Most Versatile 4 Season Slide-In On Th...

Presented by LOKI - LOKI has been in the design, engineering, and fabrication business for 15 years, and this new subsidiary aims to disrupt the #vanlife industry with a highly configurable sports-specific pod that, unlike traditional recreational vehicles, is immune to mileage depreciation because it can be easily transferred from one vehicle to the next when it’s time to get a new truck. LOKI Basecamp brings a fresh new class of product to the outdoor industry and is a must-have for outdoor sports enthusiasts who want to convert their pickup truck into the ultimate adventure vehicle. Discover LOKI Basecamp LOKI The concept for these fully insulated, solar powered adventure pods lived as a dream inside the mind of CEO Pierre-Mathieu Roy. His passion for outdoor adventure had him yearning for an adaptable slide-in that could be easily reconfigured to the needs of his seasonal outdoor passions, from overlanding and mountain biking in the warmer months to ski touring in the winter. And he wanted it to have the ability to operate untethered from both the energy grid and a vehicle.  LOKI When COVID-19 struck, he recognized that many others also had the same desire, so he wasted no time making his dream a reality. “This new venture represents the melding of my personal and professional passion. Now more than ever people are pursuing their passion for outdoor sports. We designed the Falcon Series for adventure-seekers and weekend warriors who like to play outdoors and play hard in all seasons” said founder and CEO Roy. LOKI The LOKI Basecamp Falcon Series is a combination of modern engineering and top tier craftsmanship. Each unit is carefully hand built, from the aluminum frame to the interior finishes. The Falcon Series is the first modular slide-in that utilizes interior and exterior rail systems for users to adapt their pod to suit the sport-du-jour.  The seating area can convert to extra sleeping space, bed panels can convert to a workshop table, and all of it can be used as outdoor furniture at the campsite. The entire rear panel opens fully, making it easier to load bulky items while also acting as an awning and offering panoramic views from inside. There is also a standard door for quick entry. The Falcon 8’s design features an indoor/outdoor shower, a storage area for a Dometic toilet, climate control, expedition-rated windows,  a fully functional dinette & much more.  The LOKI Basecamp Falcon Series brings high-end, van-life style to nearly any pickup truck, giving you more flexibility for the work-from-anywhere lifestyle you’ve been dreaming about. LOKI Customers can choose from a variety of custom layouts, options, and colors to craft their dream overlanding vehicle. LOKI Basecamp is currently accepting orders at lokibasecamp.com, and once finished will be delivered and installed anywhere in North America. Discover LOKI Basecamp

Hennesey Velociraptor 700 F-250 is Big Block Domination

In case you missed it, Ford debuted an all-new 7.3-liter last year. Unlocking its full potential, the Hennessey Velociraptor 700 F-250 is big block domination. While other trucks are going to smaller engines topped with turbos, this beast is rated at 430 horsepower/475 torque from the factory. The Velociraptor is a comprehensive upgrade to the engine, chassis, and even the leather, as Joe Rogan can testify. Instead of overhead cams, Ford has returned to overhead valves with one cam doing all the work. This opens the door for John and his team to grind a custom bumpstick and pour in their secret sauce with a new tune. This allows you to have 527 horsepower and 560 torque at the rear wheels. That deep growl from 445 cubic inches sounds just as mean as a 427 FE, and we suspect they will soon be stuffing it into a late-model Mustang. Tell us what you would do with this beast in the comments below. Learn More

Ford GT "Le Mansory" is Limited to 3 Examples

Nothing beats a play on words to sell supercars. "Le Mansory" is their tribute to the Le Mans-winning Ford. Choosing to take on such a high-profile car was done to celebrate 30 years as a coachbuilder to the wealthy. "One car per decade" has been their modus operandi, and it is truly quality over quantity. Starting with a new carbon fiber exterior, the color is "Bleurion Race". Keeping the car's race-winning aerodynamics in-mind, they spent countless hours using the latest in aerodynamic software to increase downforce and decrease drag. Forged monoblock 21" wheels complete the exterior, then they crafted a new interior of the finest leather. Before the engine bay was treated to the new color, they achieved 710 horsepower and 620 lb-ft of torque. Click the link below to find your Ford GT and stay with us for all your Mansory news.
