Apocalypse's New Dark Horse Turns The Ford Bronco Into A ...

How do you make a Bronco better? Add more wheels! Apocalypse Manufacturing, ominously named, is known for its ability to turn trucks and SUVs into something a bit more… foreboding. The brand does so by adding a bed (if the base car doesn’t already have one) and two more wheels to the car. By the way, those two extra wheels get power, too. The Ram-based Warlord, and the Jeep-based Hellfire, Doomsday and Sinister 6 are all off-road monsters that look like the textbook definition of apocalypse-ready, with 37-inch tires, upgraded leather interiors, and plenty of other upgrades that truly turn them into ultimate vehicles. And now, there’s an Apocalypse Bronco. MUST READ: Meet the SoFlo Stallion, the Ultimate Bronco If you’ve ever looked at a Ford Bronco and thought “This is missing an axle,” you’re in luck. Not only does Apocalypse’s 6x6 Bronco, the Dark Horse, receive that extra axle, to go with it, but it also gets power to it as well, making it a Bronco-turned-six-wheel-drive monster truck of dreams. With a 400-horsepower V6 engine under the hood, a kevlar-coated steel bumper, and the potential for Kevlar coating for the entire paint job, and an even wilder engine, a 700-horsepower Coyote 5-liter V8, the Dark Horse promises to be just that, with the height, looks, equipment, and performance to strike fear into the hearts of many, and pure, ludicrous joy into the heart of its owner. Build Number 1 of the Dark Horse will be sold at the Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach auction, and it's currently set to satrt bidding at primetime between 5:00 PM and 8:30 PM on Saturday, April 9. After Build Number 1 sells, Apocalypse will build Dark Horses for clients and turning existing Broncos into 6x6 trucks. Source: Apocalypse Manufacturing

New NHTSA Regulations Open New Doors For Replica Car Manu...

The world of replica cars has just gotten the green light to get bigger and better than ever before. Building and selling replica cars has always been a somewhat convoluted process. That’s because replica cars have had to meet the same exact legal regulations as their mass-produced counterparts. The issue with that was that these small manufacturers lacked the money and resources to create cars that met the various regulations that mass-produced cars had to meet. To get around this, replica cars had to be sold as kits with separately sold engines. MUST READ: Classic Recreations Announces Carbon Fiber Bodied CSX Series Shelby Cobra Race Car Under new regulations in the Low Volume Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Act, part of the FAST, or Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act, replica cars exist under a new set of regulations that allows small manufacturers to make fully built replica cars. These manufacturers can make up to 325 replicas per year, and the stipulations are that they need to resemble production vehicles that are at least 25 years old, and that they need to meet current emissions standards. With replicas being so much easier to manufacture, buy, and sell under these new regulations, the possibilities are seemingly endless of what cars can come out of the past and into the future. Classic Recreations Announces Carbon Fiber Bodied CSX Ser...

Presented by Classic Recreations. Classic Recreations, the iconic builder of high-performance custom vehicles, including Shelby GT500CR continuation cars, has announced its latest innovation - an authentic, officially licensed 1965 carbon fiber bodied CSX Shelby Cobra race car. As the most recent achievement to emerge from Classic Recreations, the full carbon fiber body is an extension of Carroll Shelby’s vision and follows the company’s wildly received 1967 carbon fiber bodied GT500CR Mustang which was released in early 2021. Only 10 of the new Shelby Cobra race cars, dubbed the “Diamond Edition” in honor of Shelby American’s 60th anniversary, will be produced. Granted unique CSX serial numbering, CSX4521 through CSX4530, by Shelby Licensing, each will feature a specially designed custom diamond encrusted badge, feature Carroll Shelby’s commemorative signature on the dashboard and be sold as a completed race car. “What Classic Recreations has achieved with their carbon fiber program is the continuation of a dream Carroll Shelby himself envisioned for the future,” said Shelby American President Gary Patterson. Similar sentiments were expressed by Co-CEO of Carroll Shelby International and CEO of Carroll Shelby Licensing, Inc. Neil Cummings, saying “Classic Recreation’s has been a licensee of Carroll Shelby Licensing for over 15 years and each year they continue to innovate and push the envelope just like Carroll did himself.” The Cobra body has been completely engineered in autoclave-cured carbon fiber including the floor and doors, allowing it to achieve a staggering mere 88 pounds of body weight. This innovation meets performance with a custom-designed, geometrically correct chassis and suspension designed by Jason Engel, founder and Vice President of Design and Engineering of Classic Recreations. This extremely lightweight Cobra is a force to be reckoned with due to its power-to-weight ratio and improved geometry. The iconic Cobra not only has been infused with modern engineering but was reimagined to include updated technology and more comfort, like an extended cabin for extra legroom to further enhance the driver experience. “Carroll Shelby taught me the significance of pushing the envelope through innovation and passion,” said Jason Engel. “A dream of Carroll’s was always to place the highest horsepower engine possible in the lightest, most agile car imaginable and it is our honor to have met that challenge.” The Cobra will be built and assembled by an elite team of designers and technicians under a new division of Classic Recreations, focused solely on research and development. The new Shelby Cobra race car is engineered to mate with a Ford Performance Gen 3 Coyote engine, producing over 800 horsepower when combined with the optional VMP Supercharger. The vehicle features independent rear suspension, a T56 Magnum Tremec transmission, and Wilwood 6 piston brakes, front and rear. Designed without a tubular chassis on purpose, the team wanted to ensure the Cobra was built for strength and could rival current supercars in weight and horsepower. Built to handle like a modern vehicle, the “Diamond Edition” carbon fiber Cobra Race Car produced entirely in the United States and will be sold for $1.2 million dollars. RML's All-New "Car Zero" Is Hitting The Road This Year

Car Zero is finally ready to show itself. RML Group has been known for years for providing engineering, building, and design solutions for motorsport and road cars made around the world by many of the brands we know and love. Recently, however, RML has been teasing the release of a car of their very own, known as Car Zero, the brand’s first car to wear the RML name itself. MUST READ: Watch The BRABUS 1300R Product Story By CEO Constantin Buschmann The car is a grand tourer with a vintage aesthetic, but with the modern abilities and absolutely best features that RML has to offer when it comes to engineering prowess. With a 5.5-liter V12, the car will reach a top speed of about 180 mph, and hit 60 mph in “about four seconds.” And while this car is a performance beast, that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The interior was designed to comfortably accommodate drivers between 5’ and 6’4” tall, with enough space for a helmet if the car is going to be on the track. Along with that, every touchpoint in the interior is either made of leather, aluminum, or glass, with RML implementing a “no plastic” rule to maintain the highest interior quality. Even the air conditioning vents are machined from aluminum. This incredible, unique, and entirely bespoke car is said to start deliveries this summer, but if you want one, you’ll have to act fast. Over the next two and a half years, only 30 cars will be made. And if the car is as amazing as this latest news makes it seem, those 30 cars are going to sell quick.

First Look: LOKI Basecamp Icarus

Presented by LOKI Basecamp – LOKI Basecamp, maker of premier four-season pods that transform a stock pickup truck into the ultimate adventure vehicle, is proud to release its second model, the Icarus, into the wild.  The new slide-in camper retains the same four-season capabilities and all the basic comforts and functions of the Falcon but condenses it into a smaller, and lighter package that’s more agile and easier to drive while overlanding. The modular interior design is carried over from the Falcon, allowing users to customize the interior to suit their needs, be it sports, leisure, or field office.  Discover LOKI Basecamp Icarus LOKI Basecamp “We designed the Icarus with a philosophy of no compromises” said founder and CEO Pierre-Mathieu Roy. “We wanted a four-season unit that was light enough for easy driving both on and off-road, and it needed to be strong enough to carry all of our outdoor toys on the exterior rack system” continued Roy.  LOKI Basecamp The reengineered and reinforced fiberglass shell adds the structural support requested by Roy and it boasts R16 insulation, making it suitable for use in all four seasons. A Webasto Heating Unit supplies hot air and water, and A/C is powered by a 12v air conditioner. A 2,000-watt inverter is up to the task of charging the onboard 300ah to 600ah Lithium battery bank, and rooftop solar panels can supply up to an additional 300w of energy. The Icarus also boasts an on-board water pump, a 15-gallon fresh water tank and 13-gallon grey water tank. The exterior is adorned with an up to 48,000 Lumen light bar on the front, and utility LED lights on the sides and rear as well as a retractable awning. Like the Falcon, the Icarus also has a modular exterior rack system that can be configured to carry a wide range of sporting goods.  LOKI Basecamp The interior has room for a full bed over the cab, hidden storage for a portable toilet, and a multi-function seating and table area that can be reconfigured to make room for an additional bed. The kitchenette features a stainless-steel sink and a mobile induction cooktop. Remaining interior space is dedicated to a mudroom with a mobile shower. That precious real estate can also be used to hang wet clothing or for additional seating. LOKI Basecamp Later this year it will be possible to add a Red Tail Overland structure on the roof of the Icarus, transforming it into a penthouse with a full 4 season bed. The Icarus is available in two models: the Icarus 6 will fit trucks with 6.5-foot beds and the Icarus 8 is for larger trucks with 8-foot beds. Prices start at $69,000, with many custom options available. LOKI Basecamp is currently accepting pre-orders with a $5,000 deposit through its website at www.lokibasecamp.com. Once finished, the Icarus will be hand-delivered and installed for customers in North America. Presented by LOKI - LOKI has been in the design, engineering, and fabrication business for 15 years, and this new subsidiary aims to disrupt the #vanlife industry with a highly configurable sports-specific pod that, unlike traditional recreational vehicles, is immune to mileage depreciation because it can be easily transferred from one vehicle to the next when it’s time to get a new truck. LOKI Basecamp brings a fresh new class of product to the outdoor industry and is a must-have for outdoor sports enthusiasts who want to convert their pickup truck into the ultimate adventure vehicle. Discover LOKI Basecamp LOKI The concept for these fully insulated, solar powered adventure pods lived as a dream inside the mind of CEO Pierre-Mathieu Roy. His passion for outdoor adventure had him yearning for an adaptable slide-in that could be easily reconfigured to the needs of his seasonal outdoor passions, from overlanding and mountain biking in the warmer months to ski touring in the winter. And he wanted it to have the ability to operate untethered from both the energy grid and a vehicle.  LOKI When COVID-19 struck, he recognized that many others also had the same desire, so he wasted no time making his dream a reality. “This new venture represents the melding of my personal and professional passion. Now more than ever people are pursuing their passion for outdoor sports. We designed the Falcon Series for adventure-seekers and weekend warriors who like to play outdoors and play hard in all seasons” said founder and CEO Roy. LOKI The LOKI Basecamp Falcon Series is a combination of modern engineering and top tier craftsmanship. Each unit is carefully hand built, from the aluminum frame to the interior finishes. The Falcon Series is the first modular slide-in that utilizes interior and exterior rail systems for users to adapt their pod to suit the sport-du-jour.  The seating area can convert to extra sleeping space, bed panels can convert to a workshop table, and all of it can be used as outdoor furniture at the campsite. The entire rear panel opens fully, making it easier to load bulky items while also acting as an awning and offering panoramic views from inside. There is also a standard door for quick entry.
