The New 525HP Ariel Atom 4RR Is The Quickest Atom Yet

Ariel celebrates 25 years of the Atom with its most extreme iteration yet.

The turn of the millennium saw the introduction of the Ariel Atom, a track-focused car that explored the idea of combining the most extreme lightweight construction possible with the robust power to create an unequivocally thrilling performance machine. The result was nothing short of iconic, and the Atom quickly gained a reputation for its incredible dynamics and virtually unparalleled acceleration.

Since then, 25 years have passed, and the Atom has continued to evolve, including a ludicrous V8-powered variant, and other takes on Ariel’s extreme approach to performance. However, the latest Atom, the new Ariel Atom 4RR created to celebrate the model’s 25th anniversary, is the quickest one yet.

It's road-legal, and features a hand-built, bespoke engine based on Honda’s reputable 2.0-liter K20C Type-R engine with an immense 525 horsepower and a rev limit of 8,200 rpm. The engine is hand-built over 100 hours, and it helps the new Atom 4RR get from 0-60 in less than 2.4 seconds, reaching 100 mph in only 5.1 seconds. That makes it the quickest Ariel Atom yet. Weighing less than 700 kilograms, its power-to-weight ratio is an incredible 780 brake horsepower per ton, and with motorsport-focused engineering and components throughout, it’s a formidable track weapon despite its street-legal status.

In the UK, the new Ariel Atom 4RR is available to order in extremely limited quantities, and carries a price that equates to over $278,000. However, with incredible power and the most extreme rendition of Ariel’s ultra-lightweight racing engineering, the new Ariel Atom 4RR is a celebration of 25 years of a performance icon, and an unprecedented machine in its own right.
