Despite being a highly limited Mulliner project, restricted to a scant 18 examples, Bentley has gone through an incredible effort to ensure the durability and build quality of the new Batur by Mulliner and is now announcing that the ultra-exclusive W12-powered coupe has completed its vehicle development program and that production of the customer cars is ready to begin. Each will feature bespoke details and take about four months to complete, with the last one set to be finished at the end of 2024.
Two development cars were made, “Car Zero,” and “Car Zero-Zero,” and each was subjected to testing on handling tracks, in real-world conditions, at speeds of over 200 mph, in challenging terrain conditions, and in 600 hours of solar loading, which equals roughly five years in Arizona desert conditions, all of which it emerged from triumphant. Combined, the cars endured 50 weeks of testing.
However, the W12 engine has completed a two-year development program of its own, with a total of 740 horsepower, which will make the Batur the most powerful Bentley to date. Bentley announced that the production of the incredible W12 engine will be ending soon, and the Batur will represent its absolute pinnacle, with a new intake system, modified turbochargers, improved intercoolers, and other performance-optimizing components. With its power and durability perfected, the customer Bentley Batur cars which are coming soon are sure to be some of the most incredible modern examples of coachbuilding ever.
