It’s one of the most iconic hotspots for stunning classic cars with its celebrated Concours d’Elegance and intense auctions, and because of that, Amelia Island has become synonymous with incredible cars. When it comes to auctions arriving at the anticipated venue, it takes a lot to stand out, and that’s what Broad Arrow Auctions did, with an inaugural action that achieved a total of $31 million in sales and featured some incredibly rare, beautiful, powerful, and iconic pieces of automotive excellence, both modern and classic.
At the top the auction’s totem pole was a 2015 McLaren P1, part of a trio of carbon-bodied McLarens which sold for an incredible $2,425,000. Behind it was a 1989 Porsche 959 Komfort, selling for $1,710,000, then its successor, the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT, selling for $1,517,500, then another McLaren, the 2019 Senna, selling for $1,380,000. After that, a 1932 Alfa Romeo 6C sold for $1,270,000, a 1937 Bugatti Type 57C Vanvooren Roadster sold for $1,132,000, a 1961 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster sold for $1,215,000, a Porsche 911 Turbo S Flachbau sold for the same amount, a 2021 Ford GT sold for $1,050,000, and a 1991 AMG 6.0 “Hammer” Widebody Coupe finished the top 10, selling for $885,000. Nine out of the top 10 cars sold for over $1 million, and as the first Amelia Island auction from Broad Arrow Auctions, the future can only be even better.
