Testing the top speed of a vehicle can be quite a daring experience, especially in a car as powerful and athletic as the Ferrari 296 GTB Assetto Fiorano. The 296 GTB model is powered by a 3.0-liter V6 engine that's coupled with an electric motor. Together, they produce a mighty 819 horsepower and 548 lb-ft of torque, enough to make it the most powerful road-going V6 engine that Ferrari has ever produced.
So, how does that power translate to a top speed? According to Ferrari, the 296 GTB's top speed is over 205 mph. But, how much faster than that can this hybrid supercar really go? To find the answer, the YouTube channel car sports (sport auto) decided to take an example of the Ferrari out in a straight line to see just where the speedometer would top out at.
In the video up above, you'll see some exterior shots of the 296 GTB Assetto Fiorano and then a rolling shot of the speedometer as the supercar makes its way past 200 mph. In the end, it looks like it goes up to 340 km/h, or about 211 mph. That's a solid 6 mph over the 205 mph threshold.
