Dune buggy manufacturer Meyers Manx announced today it would both sponsor and compete in this year's National Offroad Racing Association (NORRA) 1000 offroad race. As its name suggests, the cours runs 1,000 miles from Tijuana to La Paz, Mexico. This event is significant to the manufacturer becaue a Meyers Manx won its first iteration back in 1967 when it was known as theĀ NORRA Mexican 1000. It was so succesful in fact that it crossed the line five hours ahead of the next finisher.
Aside from announcing that it is one of the event's major sponsors, Meyers Manx also plans to debut its Remastered dune buggy kit by entering one into the Safari class. This particular self-assembly kit starts under $10,000. The goal of entering this latest kit into the race is to showcase how buyers can purchase one, build it, and enter a tough event lie the NORRA 1000 and compete successfully.
While the Remastered will make its first full appearance, this part of Mexico will also serve as the testing grounds for the brand's upcoming 2.0 EV. It is a modern take on the dune buggy, just with a fully electric powertrain
