Cadillac Unveils 2018 CTS-V Glacier Metallic Edition

Next year, Cadillac will celebrate 115 years as "The Standard Of The World". Henry Leland was a machinist and gun maker who was asked to help liquidate a failed automotive company. The Henry Ford Company was Ford's first attempt at building his own car, and it didn't succeed. Leland saw the potential and decided to buy the leftovers and start his own company. Cadillac would make him a wealthy man, and he sold it to General Motors. A few years later, he started Lincoln, which was ironically purchased by Henry Ford. Over a century later, Lincoln and Cadillac are still going at it.Our Take on the CTS-VBack to the anniversary celebration, Cadillac announced a special CTS-V in a press release. The Glacier Metallic Edition will be limited to 115 cars, each one finished in an appealing smoky gray exterior. Red Brembo calipers and black Recaro buckets are standard equipment, along with a 2-day course at the V Performance School at Spring Mountain Raceway. All the most desirable features are also onboard, including the carbon fiber package and the luxury package. Floyd Mayweather's New KoenigseggThis means every example will have a panoramic sunroof, tri-zone climate control, and the Performance Data Recorder. Enthusiasts have also found hidden software in the recorder. After recording your hot laps onto an SD card, you will be given a link to download software from Cosworth. It gives you the ability to monitor every aspect of your engine, from supercharger temps to fuel trims. Polished 19" wheels are also specific to this edition, and it all adds up to $103,885. Cadillac XTS 2018

New 2018 Cadillac XTS Breaks Cover

If you own a TV, you have seen Cadillac's commercials that feature the Escala concept. Although everyone is talking about it, they have stated several times it will not be produced. The best we can hope for is an upcoming refresh on the new CT6 that will offer some of its influences. With CT6 getting a new wardrobe, the XTS is getting some much-needed attention. In a press release last night, the details of the 2018 XTS are outlined. If you haven't had an opportunity to drive one, they are built on the Epsilon II chassis shared with the Impala and Buick Lacrosse. It received more insulation and reinforcements to suspension mounts to make for a plush ride. The exterior is heavily revised to bring it up to date with its siblings. Essentially the new Cadillac XTS is the successor of the Seville and Deville, being destined for active adult neighborhoods and those who have no need for a supercharged V8. Most of them are front wheel drive, but all-wheel drive is optional. You might not realize that a twin-turbo V6 from the ATS-V is the top engine option. It delivers 420 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque to all wheels. New 20" wheels and new seats will soak up broken pavement, while the next generation CUE system is easier to use. Borrowed from the CTS, the new CUE is easier to use with customizable menus. Other technologies borrowed from the V series are torque vectoring and limited slip differentials. This isn't your grandfather's Seville, so check with our dealers for pricing and availability of this premium luxury sedan.

Cadillac's Prototype DPi-V.R Race Car is Ferocious

Cadillac is back at it again, bringing one of the most ferocious race cars to the 2017 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship series. Being called the 2017 Cadillac DPi-V.R, this race car will be competing in the Prototype (P) class and will be driven by teams from Wayne Taylor Racing and Action Express Racing.(Related - Not Even Close: Cadillac CTS-V vs Porsche 911 GT3 RS)“The DPi-V.R race car was an exciting new canvas for the Cadillac design and sculpting team,” said Andrew Smith, Global Cadillac Design executive director, in a press release from the automaker. “The studio embraced the opportunity to interpret the Cadillac form language, line work and graphic signature for this premier prototype racing application.  Every detail of the final design was selected to support the car’s on-track performance and unmistakable Cadillac presence.”Powering the car is a naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 engine, similar to the one found in the third-generation CTS-V. For the prototype, 600 hp will be on tap, with a max RPM of 7,600. Cadillac CT6 Plug-In Hybrid

Cadillac Reveals CT6 Plug-In Hybrid

Introducing the Cadillac CT6 Plug-In HybridIf you want the practicality of a hybrid with the luxury of a full-size sedan, Cadillac has your answer. The 2017 CT6 Hybrid is a warning shot fired across the bow of Tesla and the resurrected Karma. We spent a week with the V6 powered CT6 earlier this year, and it is undoubtedly their best offering since the demise of the Fleetwood in 1996. Since the trunk is large enough for several captive passengers they decided to use some of the space for an 18.4 kW battery pack.Tesla's Model S and Model X both offer a 100 kw battery so you might be quick to dismiss the Caddy as simply an imitator. But the secret is in the transmission. In the press release last week, A new electric variable transmission captures all the power of a 2.0-liter turbo four and sends it as needed to the rear axles. This novel approach is not unlike what Koenigsegg has pioneered on the Regera, but in a somewhat more affordable package. If your daily commute is not too demanding, having 30 miles of pure electric range will keep the gas stations in your rearview. Total combined output of the car is rated at 335 hp and 432 lb-ft of torque, and they made sure to tell us that 250 kw is more than any other hybrid (outside of Sweden). Our 2012 Fisker Karma is rated at a total range of 230 miles, but we have never been able to achieve such efficiency. It is also powered by the same 2.0 liter Chevrolet four, but that is a story for another day. Cadillac's advertised range of 400 miles to a tank is a shocker for the industry, so as soon as we get our hands on one, expect a thorough evaluation. Our leftover turkey supplies are now depleted, so stay with us for more automotive stuffing here on Autofluence regarding the Cadillac CT6 Plug-In Hybrid.CT6 For Sale Cadillac CT6 Plug-In Hybrid

Cadillac V School Feature

Cadillac Will Teach ATS-V and CTS-V Owners How to Properl...

Owning a powerful car without having the skills to control it makes for a useless purchase. When the Cadillac V series began in 2004, owners were given a handshake and an owner's manual, but no instruction on how to push the big sedan to its limits. I have spent four years of trial and error (and tires) to learn the capabilities of '04 V, so I'm glad Cadillac has stepped up for new buyers. To help customers get the most from their 2017 ATS-V or CTS-V, a two day training course will be offered. The V-Performance Academy will be held at Spring Mountain Motor Resort & Country Club, with ground transportation provided to the airport in Las Vegas. A two night stay includes breakfast and lunch at the longest road course in the US. Our recent experiences in both V models were an overload in performance features, and Chief Engineer Brandon Vivian explained why: “The V-Series are the most-track capable Cadillac models ever, using exclusive technologies tuned by a select group of dedicated engineers,” The Performance Traction Management system on the V series has a myriad of settings for wet, dry, and race modes. Under its control are the transmission shift points, stability system, power steering, magnetic suspension, electronic differential and throttle response. Of course the system can be turned off if you want to do it all yourself, but we found it comforting to have such a competent copilot. The response of each component can be fine tuned to your liking, so what better way to dial in your car than on a race track. If Nevada is too far away, a one day V-Performance Lab will be travelling to a track near you. Our dealers have more information on the program, so check out these V series cars from our dealers below.Search ATS-V For Sale|Search CTS-V For Sale
