Hummer H1 Price, Specs, Photos, & Review

First Hummer H1 It's 1990. The stage is set: a caravan slouches toward Baghdad. Cue Operation Desert Storm, the first war to bring America's military might live, via television, right into our living rooms. Hummer H1 History One of the stars of that first Gulf War was the High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV or the M998 Humvee), manufactured by AM General in the 1980s for military use. It can climb over 22-inch high obstacles, haul itself up steep grades (as much as 60%) and rumble through water as deep as 30”. When Did The Hummer H1 Come Out? The Hummer H1 came out in 1992 for the civilian market. After watching it tear through Iraq, Arnold Schwarzenegger began a national petition for a street-legal version. After much debate, AM General acquiesced. General Motors purchased the brand in 1998 and added a 2nd production line at the plant. Hummer H1 Alpha Around 2001, GM began to plan the 2nd generation Hummer H1. Starting with the engine, the old Detroit 6.5 had to go. The new Duramax 6.6 is larger, wider, and taller. This required a 2" body lift, and the entire frame was changed to thicker, high-strength steel. It offered 300 Horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque, so the differential gearing was increased accordingly. The number of changes made it essentially a new model. The H1 Alpha was introduced for 2006, but only 729 examples were built before GM discontinued the H1 program. Production ceased on the civilian Hummer H1 in 2006, with AM General continuing to build them for our Armed Forces. The H1 Alpha changes were made in 2005, so there is no '05 model year. The Hummer H1 production years are 1992 to 2004, and 2006 was the end of the line Hummer H1 Models The Hummer H1 is technically a pickup truck/SUV and comes in a 2-door soft top, 4-door hard-top SUV, 4-door soft top, and a slant-back version. There is also a 2-door pickup truck that can hold machine guns, rocket launchers, radar, or troops. Hummer H1 Engine There are actually five different engine types available: a 6.2 and 6.5-liter Detroit Diesel V8, a 5.7-liter Chevrolet V8, & a 6.6-liter turbo DuraMAX Diesel V8. Transmission choices include a GM TH400/3L80 3-speed automatic, a GM 4L80-E 4-speed automatic, an Allison 1000 5-speed automatic and Allison 1000 6-speed automatic. Hummer H1 Ground Clearance These vehicles were neither built for comfort nor for speed, but who needs that when you have what is essentially a Jeep on steroids? With 16” of ground clearance the Hummer H1 can climb stairs. It has a Central Tire Inflation System (CTIS) that allows the driver to increase or decrease the amount of air to the tires. This helps to get the optimum footprint for climbing over objects and inboard brakes and portal gears, as well as intake snorkels tucked up high for protection behind a tubular, reinforcedundercarriage. Sports Cars For Sale Hummer H1 Specs Price: $60,000 Engine: Detroit Diesel 6.2, 6.5, or Duramax 6.6 Transmission: Chevrolet TH400, or 4L80E Horsepower: 215 hp Torque: 440 lb-ft 0-60: 12 seconds 1/4 Mile: 18.3 seconds Top Speed: 96 mph Hummer H1 Tires The Hummer H1 has a generous 130” wide wheelbase and runs on aggressive tires. The 2-piece steel wheels include magnesium-aluminum alloy inserts for run-flat ability. The stock tire size is  37x12.5x16.5, and most aftermarket wheels do not have the CTIS ability. The Hummer H1 top speed is limited to 96 mph to protect the heavy-duty axles. Hummer H1 Price A daily-driven Hummer H1 price usually starts around $60,000. Expect to pay over $100,000 for low mileage examples and older models. The real treat is the 2006 Hummer H1 Alpha. They are changing hands for over $300,000, even in used condition. Hummer H1 Weight Considering the Hummer H1 is one of the widest street-legal SUVs, it is heavy. Considering it was engineered to handle a cannon, missiles, troops, and body armor, the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating is 10,300 lbs. The diesel engine alone is a major contributor, so it is needless to say it is not a light ride. View All Hummer For Sale

Top 10 New Cars of 2019

We are one week away from the IAA (Frankfurt Auto Show), and we know there will probably be a few wild cars revealed. Nevertheless, 2019 has seen some heavy hitters and incredible performance machines unveiled. So as we prepare for a Labor Day Hurricane, here are our top 10 favorite unveilings of 2019. Porsche 911 While looks have only changed slightly, the 2020 Porsche Carrera is the introduction of the 8th Generation Porsche 911. The 2019 cars are the last of the 991.2 chassis, and it has been succeeded by the 992 chassis. So far, the Carrera, Carrera S, and Carrera 4S are available, and the progression to Targa, GTS, Turbo will ultimately yield the return of the GT2 and GT3 series. Well done Porsche! Learn More Ferrari SF90 The LaFerrari was their first foray into hybrid power, but it was a very limited production. With that experience under their belt, the SF90 Stradale will be Ferrari's first series-production hybrid. Click the link below to learn more about Ferrari's most powerful car ever offered. Learn More Mustang Shelby GT500 If you are noticing a theme, most of these cars are the most powerful models ever offered by their manufacturers. Nothing represents the power and expertise of the Ford Motor Company better than this beastly collaboration with Shelby American. Learn More Corvette Six decades in the making, Corvette has finally gone mid-engine. Zora Duntov was the first Corvette Chief Engineer, and a Porsche Werks Driver. He pleaded with GM to let him build a mid-engine Corvette, but the computers necessary to keep the average driver safe didn't exist. Now Chevrolet has taken on the world for under $60,000. Learn More Drako GTE Drako Motors is a new venture based in Silicon Valley. Their claim is that the GTE is the "most powerful GT car ever made." It has four electric motors and the ability to turn off the fronts if you want a perfect drift machine. Learn More Bugatti Centodieci You can't deny the power and styling of the Bugatti EB110. That's why this car is an homage to the hottest car of the 90's. The price might surprise you! Learn More Pagani Huayra BC Roadster Benny Caiola encouraged his friend Horacio Pagani to pursue his dreams. Their friendship allowed Benny to purchase the first production Pagani, so their latest roadster was named in his honor. Learn More Pininfarina Battista Battery technology is advancing at a lightning pace, so this gorgeous Italian-German collaboration might be the most powerful production car ever offered. Learn More Lotus Evija Lotus builds electric cars? They do now! This masterpiece also has a massive battery and four electric motors, and it might beat the Pininfarina (at least on paper). Learn More Koenigsegg Jesko Christian von Koenigsegg and his team went back to the drawing board in their quest for 300 mph. What emerged is longer and wider than the Agera, and it has the world's first 8-clutch transmission. Every aspect is nearly unbelievable, so he named it after his father. Learn More These 10 cars represent a fraction of what you will find in our 2020 Exotic Car Buyer's Guide, so stay with us as we countdown the days until it is released.

Top 7 American Cars for Independence Day 2019

Thirteen rebellious British colonies had to endure 7 years of war to secure their freedom. Delegates met in Philadelphia during the first week of July 1776 to formally announce our cause to the world, and this Thursday will mark 243 years since the Declaration of Independence was signed. In a letter to his wife, Founding Father John Adams said our "day of deliverance should be celebrated with games, sports, guns, bells, and bonfires from one end of the continent to the other." We think he would have included fancy carriages also, but peacetime was still 7 years away. So here are our Top 7 American Cars for Independence Day 2019. Corvette (c) General Motors This will be the most significant year in the history of the Chevrolet Corvette. The 8th generation model will be unveiled in two weeks, and it will be a mid-engine monster. If you prefer to have your engine in front of you, click the link below for great deals on the final examples of the C7. View Listings Challenger Hellcat (c) Fiat-Chrysler If you missed out on the limited run of the Dodge Demon, the latest Challenger Hellcat Redeye has 797 horsepower and 707 lb-ft of torque. Light the fuse on the rocket and you will have consistent 10-second quarter-mile times. It is loaded with features no other car offers. Torque Reserve, Power Chiller, After-Run Chiller, and a Line Lock from the factory...You won't find them anywhere else. View Listings Cadillac CTS-V (c) General Motors Like many legendary superheroes, the CTS-V is going out on top. What began as a wild project on 2004 will come to an end later this year. Being a low-volume model has already made them immortalized as the car that saved a brand. Nothing beats a comfortable sedan with a supercharged Corvette Z06 V8 under the hood. View Listings Viper (c) Fiat-Chrysler Ok, this one might draw some criticism as it has been discontinued, again. Nevertheless, the Dodge/SRT Viper was and is an American assertion of power. It was the last collaboration between Lee Iaccoca and Carroll Shelby, and the V10 engine traces its legacy back to the legendary 440 Magnum. If you need an automatic transmission, look somewhere else! View Listings Mustang (c) Ford Motor Company If you have never seen the iconic chase scene from the movie Bullitt, it proved the potency of Ford's Big Block engine in the lightweight Mustang. With all the history of SVT, SVO, Cobras and the Mustang GT, the 2019 Mustang Bullitt offers 480 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque from the 5.0L V8. Not only is it more powerful than the Big Block cars, it offers 24 mpg and a six-speed stick. View Listings Camaro (c) General Motors Big news for Camaro Comrades comes in the form of a new trim level. The 2020 Camaro LT1 is named after its 6.2L V8, and it offers V6 looks with 455 lb-ft and horsepower. Rear Brembo brakes, Bose audio, and the premium touchscreen are not available. It is also the first V8 Camaro to offer a non-staggered tire setup (20"x8.5" at all corners) since 2002. The best feature is the price of $34,995. That makes it cheaper than what I paid for my new 2002 Camaro SS, eighteen years of inflation stings a little! View Listings Ford GT (c) Ford Motor Company The goal of the Ford GT was to build a world-class supercar and win LeMans. A secret program developed a carbon fiber masterpiece with two suspension systems at each corner. Powered by a 3.5L twin turbo V6, it uses less weight and more grip to dominate on the world stage. View Listings Regardless of what you drive, do it without drinking and remember that firework debris will destroy your clear coat. Have a happy & safe 4th of July from all of us at the duPont REGISTRY!

Friday is the first day of Summer, and it will offer the longest daylight of the year. Pagans of the Earth will be celebrating at ancient sites, so that means they won't be bothering your local exotic car dealer. On Saturday, the sun begins moving south again, and we lose a few seconds of daylight. This precious commodity shouldn't be wasted, so we have seven stunning convertibles for Summer 2019. Ferrari 488 Spider Ferrari 488 Spider Specs, Price, Photos & Review While Ferrari did build a few examples of the LaFerrari Aperta, the 488 Spider is a little more attainable. It also makes for a great daily driver, capable of 22 mpg on the highway. A 3.9L V8 and twin turbos combine to make 660 horsepower and 560 lb-ft of torque. View Listings Lamborghini Aventador SV Roadster Lamborghini Aventador SV Roadster Specs No two letters mean more to Lamborghini fans. SV is the abbreviation for Super Veloce, or Super Fast in English. The Aventador is not slow by any means, but they found more power and better aerodynamics in this limited edition model. A screaming 6.5L V12 sends 730 horsepower and 509 lb-ft of torque to all wheels. Rear wheel steering offers incredible maneuvering and amazing grip. View Listings McLaren 570S Spider McLaren 570S Spider: Price, Specs & Review Before we plan an event, I always hope to get seat time in a 570S Spider. The Sports Series suspension and exposed carbon fiber are the best features anyone could ask for. With a dry weight of 2,996 lbs, it punches above its weight class thanks to 562 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. View Listings Porsche 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series Cabriolet Image by PorscheExchange Porsche 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series Specs, Price & Review Because each Exclusive Series is built by hand, everything is perfect. The seats are stitched by hand, and the white gold badges are cast and painted by a Goldsmith. Even the carbon fiber wheels are assembled by a dedicated team, and they receive 607 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. All Wheel Drive and All-Wheel Steering is standard, as is every other Porsche 911 performance and luxury option. Only 50 convertibles were built for the U.S., so this needs to be the centerpiece of your collection. View Listings Audi R8 Spyder Audi R8 V10 Plus Specs, Price, Photos & Review Not only does it look amazing, it shares the same beating heart of the Lamborghini Huracan. A few first-generation Spyders were built with six-speed sticks, so do your part and save the manuals. The 2020 model offers 610 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque to all wheels. A 5-layer cloth top is well insulated against sound and heat, and the R8 is one of the most reliable exotics ever built. view Listings Bentley Continental GT 2019 Continental GT Bentley Continental GT: Price, Specs, Review & Photo It has been a long time since Bentley delivered an all-new Continental GT. The wait was worth it because this stunner includes 48V active body control coupled to the smoothest suspension on the road. 2019 Father's Day Gift Guide

No two dads are the same, and yes we're including identical twins. That's because driving is a passion that evolves unto itself. For that reason, we have combed our recent issues to give you the best options for your old man. Without further adieu, here is our 2019 Father's Day Gift Guide. Hypercar Dad If price is no object, give him the best of hybrid technology and forced induction. The McLaren P1 offers almost 30 miles of electric range, along with 903 horsepower and 723 horsepower to the rear wheels. The Porsche 918 Spyder also uses a twin turbo V8 along with an electric motor powering the front wheels. Combined output is 887 horsepower and 944 lb-ft of torque. If Dad deserves a V12, the LaFerrari combines their most powerful twelve-cylinder to send 950 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels. Browse Hypercars For Sale Luxury Dad Thanks to the booming economy, his portfolio has never been better. He has never changed his formula to win Monopoly: Buy all the cheapest properties, build as much as possible, and make money from every other player. That is why he deserves a new Rolls-Royce Phantom. As the 8th generation of their masterpiece, it has abandoned the ancient steel body-on-frame. Instead, it is an aluminum space frame with cast & extruded intersections. It is strong, light and stiff, and the ride will amaze you. Twin stereoscopic cameras scan the road ahead and make instant changes to the suspension. Your tires will move, but a counteraction by the other 3 corners negates any motion transfer to the cockpit. Browse Rolls Royce Phantom For Sale Doomsday Dad: Everybody knows one. They have enough food and batteries to last several months in the bunker. He does all transactions in cash and stores precious metals instead of Federal Reserve Notes. Only the best preppers have an armored ride that is ready for anything, so your dad needs a Terradyne Gurkha. These beasts can be ordered with Nuclear/Boilogic air filtration, and since it is based on a 2-ton Ford Powerstroke Diesel, you can easily run it on vegetable oil. Browse Terradyne Gurkhas For Sale Disco Dad Did your dad force you to watch Soul Train reruns on UHF. Are most of your home movies on Betamax? Disco Dad rejects modern technology in favor of traditional power. The only car he always wanted, the best of both worlds, the DeTomasso Pantera. (C) Norm Norton Dad worked at the local Ford dealer when the Pantera arrived, and he has been forever in awe of the mid-mounted Big Block. This Italian classic outperforms many modern cars, and they won't break the bank. Browse DeTomasso Pantera For Sale Motorcycle Dad If he enjoys cruising on two wheels, we suggest the Nostalgia by Nmoto. Our friends in Miami have created a modern example on the stunning BMW R7 Concept. Lauded as the most beautiful motorcycle concept when it was unveiled in 1934, BMW said it was too futuristic and expensive to build. Now with the help of artists and fabricators, Nmoto uses over 900 hand-made parts to build a new R7. It is based on a 2020 BMW R9T, and it sacrifices none of the late-model BMW engineerings. Each one is made to order, so click the link below to get in line. Contact Nmoto Here The last three images are of an All-American V-Twin. Confederate Motorcycles has been advertising in our magazine since the mid-90s, and not even Hurricane Katrina could stop these artists. Their canvas is anodized aluminum and their chisels are the latest in 7-axis CNC tools. Each model is built to order, and they are instant collectibles. Browse Confederate Motorcycles Here Off-Road 4x4 Outdoors Dad Do your memories include camping, fly fishing, and the occasional canoe portage? If you and the old man need to get back to basics, we recommend a Hennessey Performance V8 Velociraptor. John Hennessey and team remove the EcoBoost V6 from a new Ford Raptor, and replace it with a proper engine. In its place is a new 5.0L Coyote V8 and a 2.9L Whipple Charger. It makes 758 horsepower on only 7 lbs of boost, and it offers consistent quarter-mile times in the low 12s. Check Out The Rock's VelociRaptor V8! Sports Car Dad He is an engineer who needs to know the torsional strength of the chassis around him. He understands that dual-clutch transmissions are elegant, but not worth 200 lbs of weight. His weekend goals are to carve corners without the complexity of turbos or AWD. The only logical answer is the Porsche 911 GT3. It makes 500 horsepower from a naturally aspirated 4.0L flat six, with a perfect six-speed manual transmission. His only choice will be the 911 GT3 or its clandestine cousin. The 911 GT3 Touring is the same car in a Carrera body, so it is the ultimate sleeper on the streets. Find Your Porsche 911 GT3 Here SUV Dad Even though your parents might have an empty nest, they will not relinquish the ability to drive a full-size family hauler. We all know that SUV sales are hot, so we have two choices depending on his tastes. The first is from our friends at Overfinch. Starting with a fully-loaded Range Rover, their artisans make it truly your own. Only the finest in wood, leather, and machined metals make it the most luxurious SUV on the market. Or if he prefers the classic look of the Mercedes-Benz G Wagen, allow us to show you the new Mercedes-AMG G63. It has three locking differentials to send 577 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque to any terrain. Independent suspension replaces the old solid axles, so it is the most comfortable G Wagen ever produced. Browse AMG G63 For Sale Browse Overfinch North America Does your father fall into any of these categories? Tell us your favorite example in the comments below!

2019 Exotic Car Industry Updates

It is almost March, and we have already have news you need to know. Our intention is to revisit this post throughout to note the changes made by exotic automakers. Here are our 2019 exotic car industry updates, so tell us what they mean to you in the comments below. Bugatti Veyron Gearbox Transmission Tribulation BMW has made it known that dual-clutch transmissions will be replaced by traditional automatics across their lineup. Innovations in automatic technology have resulted in a bulletproof 10-speed co-developed by Ford and GM. It can be found everywhere from the Raptor to the Camaro ZL1 1LE. Meanwhile, the 2020 Shelby GT500 has a 7-speed DCT as its only option, making it the first GT500 to not offer a manual option. The GT350 carries on with a six-speed stick for now. You Can't Run With This Bull Lamborghini asked their Squadra Corse racing department to build their dream car. It resulted in the SC18. They took the best aerodynamic elements of the Huracan GT3 EVO and added them to an Aventador SVJ. Perhaps it is a styling exercise to envision the Aventador's successor, so we applaud their efforts. David Lee's Dino Dino Is Coming Soon Walk into your Ferrari dealer and try to order a 488 GTB, or 488 Spider. Maranello is not accepting new orders because something new is on the horizon. One of Sergio Marchionne's final comments was on the return of the Dino: "not a question of if but when.” A small twin-turbo V6 sports car with an affordable price. Because the 488 Pista makes more torque than the 812 Superfast, their needs to be more of a gap in performance between them. Bugatti Chiron at Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds Your Tires Cost How Much? Owners of the new Bugatti Chiron are glad it didn't inherit the silly cambered tires introduced on the Veyron. Owners of the Veyron who get a flat are forced to ship all 4 wheels to Molsheim, as the Bugatti factory has the only machine capable of installing them. Bugatti dealers are also happy that the Chiron can be serviced in a normal manner, with several tire options available. It's A Small (Car) World After All Toyota and BMW were both contemplating new sports cars. BMW needed a new Z4 and Toyota was ready to resurrect the Supra. Both cars were going to use turbocharged straight-6 engines while offering incredible handling and a competitive price. So the companies joined up in an epic partnership. The best of both can be seen in each car, so we all win as a result. Maybe this is an indicator of future industry cooperation. A High Mileage Direct Injection Intake Deadly Direct Injection Injecting fuel directly into the cylinder is fine if you are a diesel. What was seen as a technological marvel when introduced, gasoline direct injection does more harm than it is worth. Without fuel flowing through the intake, carbon and soot buildup on the intake valves to the point of emphysema. That's why Ford's EcoBoost has added an additional port injector, and the Corvette ZR1 has followed suit. The Shelby GT500 doesn't even bother with direct injection, hopefully signaling an end to a troubled era. P.S. Wranglers In The Rear View The Jeep Wrangler has been in production since 1941, and Fiat-Chrysler sold 240,032 of them last year! P.P.S. Where is the mid-engine Corvette? https://www.facebook.com/dupontregistryautos/videos/301905157175318/
