Ford Teases New Bronco & Mustang GT500

Our test vehicle for the week is a new Mustang GT 500, and it's safe to say Ford is gearing up for something big if this car's exhaust is any proof. In a press release earlier today, we see a shadow of the new "off-road small utility" that is undoubtedly the return of the 2020 Bronco. Now that we have your attention, they have made known their intentions to revamp 75% of their lineup by 2020. We know what you are thinking. The last time they made such claims, we were rewarded with winners like the Probe and the Escort, but fear not. Ford in 2020 will dive deep into hybrid drivetrains, with a majority of vehicles being connected to their Transportation Mobility Cloud. This system allows for software updates and diagnostics on the go, communicating through LTE data networks. Six battery-powered vehicles are in the works for a planned launch by 2022. Also announced is Ford Co-Pilot 360, which combines active braking, blind spot monitoring, and other safety systems together. Product development and organization within Dearborn has been streamlined in order to build what customers want, not what they need. This was needed to shorten the time between sketch to the showroom. This helps the lineup stay current and it makes the process more efficient. The goal is to drop the age of products offered from 5.7 to 3.3 years. This harkens back to when the big automakers would change their most popular models each year to keep demand at its peak. Successes with the F-150 have helped Ford gain 1.3% in the pickup truck wars. This allows them to boast that profitability is on-par with Nike, Facebook, and Coca-Cola. The Raptor will see a slight refresh, and a new 3.0 liter Powerstroke diesel will be available across the board. Thanks to the resurgence of the SUV, Ford is shifting $7 Billion from cars to utility vehicles. The new Expedition is all aluminum and powered by the EcoBoost V6. The same engine will be found in the sporty versions of the Edge ST and the Explorer ST later this year. Not to leave the big trucks out, Ford is also extending the same autonomous braking, 4G LTE and lane departure warning systems on all heavy-duty trucks including the F-750 and the F59 chassis. Although not mentioned in the text, we also see a glimpse of the new Mustang GT500. A source that wants to remain unnamed tells us it will be the combination of the GT350's flat-plane V8 along with a giant supercharger. Tell us what your most anticipated Ford is in the comments below, and stay with us for all your Blue Oval news. Browse Mustangs For Sale

Ford Performance's 8-Car Shootout!

Just when we thought we'd seen it all, a press release from Ford this morning shows an 8-way battle royale between their top models. At a track near Barcelona, the participants included the new Ford F-150 Raptor; Fiesta ST, all-new Fiesta ST, Focus RS, new Mustang GT, Mustang GT350R, Ford GT road car and Ford GT race car for a staggered time trial around the 3.3-mile course.Top 10 Fastest Quarter-Mile Times! Most of these use the latest in turbo technology. Ford's EcoBoost turbos make massive power from small engines, while also offering superior fuel economy. The EcoBoost V6 powers the Raptor and both Ford GT models, while the Focus and Fiesta use inline fours. The most significant comparison is between the Mustang GT's 5.0 and the GT350's 5.2-liter V8. They are close in displacement, but the latter is the first to make use of Italian inspiration in an American production car. What is essentially two four-cylinders sharing the same block, it sacrifices low-end power to achieve a 9,000 rpm redline. What brought these models together was a tire test by Ford's Chip Ganassi race team. With drivers specialized in all forms of motorsport, their insights will be sent back to the factory for perfecting each car. Ford decided to shoot this film in 4k, so enjoy this test and tell us which one you want in the comments below.Browse Fords For Sale

Ford Unveils 2019 Mustang Bullitt

Lieutenant Frank Bullitt was determined to eliminate the Mafia in San Francisco. Bullitt was a 1968 box office hit starring Steve McQueen. His undercover car was a Mustang GT Fastback with the big block 390 V8. Without a rear spoiler or much badging, it could pass for a six-cylinder at a glance. Check Out The New LaFerrari Aperta To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the film, Ford announced the 2019 Mustang Bullitt in a press release last night. Finished in the same Dark Highland Green, it is also devoid of spoilers or badging. Steve's granddaughter Molly helped to unveil the car at the Detroit Auto Show. Unlike previous Bullitt editions, Ford has bumped the GT's engine power to 475 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. This pushes the top speed to 163, 8 mph faster than a normal Mustang GT. Also on stage for the event was one of the movie cars that was missing for 4 decades. While the 390 big block was a powerhouse in the late 60's, this new Bullitt would leave it in the dust. Other nice upgrades include a 12" HD instrument cluster along with Recaro seats finished in black leather & green stitching. The magnetic suspension will keep you comfy as you race through San Francisco, and the intake manifold was borrowed from the G350 for the ultimate torque at any speed. Automatic transmissions are not available because nothing beats a cue ball shifter. Mustang maniacs will need to act fast because these will undoubtedly be a limited run. Our dealers have more info, so click on the link below and stay with us for more coverage of the Detroit Auto Show. F-22 Inspired Ford Raptor Brings Big Money at Oshkosh

This year's AirVenture show in Oshkosh, Wisconsin was one of the biggest air shows in the world. It was the first time in 60 years that two B-29 bombers flew in formation, and spectators were also amazed at a custom Ford Raptor. The show is organized and hosted by the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association), which was founded in Oshkosh in 1953. What started as a flying club of WWII Veterans is now an international organization with over 200,000 members. One of their biggest programs is the Young Eagles. It is a program aimed at getting kids interested in flight by taking them for rides in the sky. With a history of famous commanders, they have been led by General Chuck Yeager, Captain Sully Sullenberger, and Harrison Ford. Speaking of Ford, they have been a major part of American aviation. When Henry Ford adapted assembly lines to aircraft, the indestructible Ford Tri-Motor became the Model T of the air. When the Air Force was taking a beating from the Luftwaffe, Ford built the Willow Run Plant that turned out new B-24 bombers every 55 minutes. To support the Young Eagles, Ford partnered with DeBerti Design to build the custom Raptor. Taking cues from the Lockheed-Martin F-22 Raptor, the DeBerti brothers started with a titanium grille and then replaced the hood and fender flares with carbon fiber pieces of their own design. Addictive Desert Designs provided the front suspension and Deaver supplied progressive rear springs. Shocks are full bypass units from Fox Racing, and the wheels are forged bead-locks from Innov8. The cab is topped by 1.3 Million Candela of LED illumination from KC HiLites. Turning up the boost creates more heat, so a giant Whipple intercooler was used to make 545 horsepower and 660 lb-ft of torque.Ford has provided an auction car since 2008, and they have donated over $3 Million to the cause. The highest bid for the Raptor was $300,000 from Gary Ackerman from Gaudin Ford in Las Vegas. It couldn't have gone to a better home because Gary is the Honorary Commander & Ambassador of the F-22 Squadron at Nellis AFB. If you are wondering why Las Vegas needs protection from the world's most lethal fighter, your answer is an Area that is 51 miles north of the city... Aviation and the aftermarket have embraced the new Ford F150 Raptor, so take a look our Fords for sale and stay with us for all your Raptor news.

Ford Adds Line Lock to the EcoBoost Mustang for Perfect B...

Drag racers who are looking for a perfect launch will always make sure the tires are hot. This is done by holding the front brakes and spinning the rear tires. The aftermarket has offered kits that do this by interrupting brake fluid to the rear to keep them open, but it can be easily done through the ABS system thanks to clever programming. To make the Mustang more capable at the drag strip, the line lock has been a feature of the V8 powered GT models for a few years. Bean counters in Dearborn have discovered its more expensive to offer different programming on the same car, so now the tire shredding technology will be available to all 2018 Mustangs.A press release this morning states it will be offered with automatic or manual transmissions on V8, V6, and four-cylinder EcoBoost models. No, it doesn't allow for smokey launches, because the brakes are only released once the tires stop spinning. It will help with traction at the expense of your rubber. The EcoBoost doesn't exactly leave in a hurry, so a brake-boosted launch system would be perfect. The Mustang was built for competition, with one of the most advanced rear suspensions on the market. Thankfully the line lock has a time limit of 15 seconds because pushing street tires beyond that might pop a sidewall. We can't wait to get our hands on one so we can crank the steering wheel for a proper doughnut. Until then, check out the YouTube upload from Ford and keep the racing at the track. If you are in the market for blue oval performance, check out these new Mustangs for sale and stay with us for all your afFORDable news.

Delivery of a One-Off Arancio Borealis Brand-New Ford GT

Andy Frisella of The MFCEO Project has just received his brand-new 2018 Ford GT and it's one of the most gorgeous examples we've come across thus far. The color he picked for the American supercar is Arancio Borealis, which is actually an exclusive Lamborghini color. The New Ford GT: An American Supercar of the Future

Ford used the new GT supercar to test technology for future vehicles The GT's rear wing can change shape like that of an airplane wing Ford creating new ways to create carbon fiber quicker and in higher volume Most powerful EcoBoost engine ever Hydraulic suspension further improves aerodynamics New technology in GT to be in upcoming Ford vehicles See the Complete 2018 Ford GT Specs and Review HereWhen building the new 2018 Ford GT, the American automaker set out to make this next-gen supercar a testbed for upcoming technology that'll be featured in upcoming vehicles. “When we began work on the all-new Ford GT in 2013, the team had three goals,” said Raj Nair, Ford executive vice president of Product Development and chief technical officer. “The first was to use it as a training ground for our engineers as we develop future engine technology and stretch our understanding of aerodynamics. Then, to push the boundaries of advanced material usage, such as lightweight carbon fiber. Finally, we set out to win the Le Mans 24 Hours, referred to by many as the ultimate test of endurance and efficiency.” AerodynamicsFord designed the GT's aerodynamics in a way that it can vary depending on its current driving condition. From the air ducts in the front to the deployable rear wing, each aero component works together to ensure the best airflow possible. In the front, the flaps will open in response to the rear wing's deployment status, balancing the airflow across the body. That rear wing also has patent-pending technology that allows it to change shape, like that of an airplane wing. Even the 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine was designed in a way so that the designers could taper off the fuselage, which wouldn't have been possible with a larger engine. WeightCarbon fiber has been widely used in the supercar world for quite some time, and now Ford has jumped on the wagon. For the new GT, Ford worked with partners in order to create ways to produce carbon fiber faster and in higher volumes. This will allow the automaker to use the lightweight material in future production vehicles and not just their exclusive models. For the GT, carbon fiber is used extensively. As a result, the supercar's weight remains low, while rigidity is still present. Engine and PowerThe Ford GT's EcoBoost engine is the most powerful of its kind that Ford has ever created. With 647 horsepower on tap, it's so powerful that the Daytona Prototype's crankshaft had to be replaced with the pre-production F-150 Raptor's crankshaft. Why? The team was noticing that the original crankshaft was cracking under grueling condition. Thanks to this swap, the Daytona Prototype went on to win its first race at Sebring that very same year.“We pushed the engine’s limits beyond what we might consider in traditional development programs, which is important as we continue to advance EcoBoost technology as a centerpiece of the company’s global lineup,” said Bob Fascetti, Ford vice president, powertrain engineering. In order to get as much power out of this turbocharged engine as possible, Ford created new anti-lag technology. This tech keeps the throttle open when the driver doesn't have the gas pedal pressed. Not only does this maintain turbo speed, but it also maintains boost pressure for quicker response when the pedal is pressed again. SuspensionGetting low is not something meant for dancing. For the Ford GT, getting low is a necessity when being driven on the track. Hydraulic suspension was implemented, which gives the driver the ability to adjust ride height with the "turn of a knob." When the driving mode is changed from normal to track mode, there's nearly a 2-inch difference. Along with this change in height, track mode raises the rear wing and closes the front splitter ducts for the best downforce possible.
