Optional Aerodynamics for the Koenigsegg Regera

Sweden may be enduring the depths of Winter, but they are building the world's hottest hypercars. The Koenigsegg Regera makes use of hybrid assist to eliminate the transmission, because who needs gears? Not only does the direct drive allow it to put more power to the ground, it also really comes alive at triple digit speeds. With a 2.73 differential, most gearheads know that such a low ratio allows for incredible top end power. A combination of twin turbo V8, three motor generators, and an innovative torque converter allow the Regera to offer 1,500 hp and around 1,475 lb-ft of torque. And to keep such power glued to the track, an optional aerodynamics package includes dive planes on the nose and more exposed carbon front to rear.A new Rendering of the Regera has been unveiled each week, giving Koenigsegg employees a chance to show their ideal build to the world. Last week we saw a raven black example from Art Director Lisa, and this week it is a Grey & Carbon design from Prototype Manager Mattias Vox. A fan of natural tones, he chose a Roe Deerskin interior. The exterior is perfect camouflage for foggy mornings, with carbon fiber being separated by white stripes. He chose this example to unveil the new aero because a "certain motor show" they are preparing for. Undoubtedly Koenigsegg and team will have something wild for Geneva, so stay with us for complete coverage of the show.

Koenigsegg's Art Director Designs Gorgeous Regera

We've already seen how two of Koenigsegg's employees would kit out their Regera, and now we get to see how the company's art director, Lisa, would customize her own hypercar. It's an interesting take on the car considering how much time she spends helping clients spec out cars of their own.(Also Read - Bordeaux Koenigsegg Regera is a Tall Glass of Wine)This is what she had to say about her spec in a Facebook post from Koenigsegg: "This is my classy, modern, architectural vision of the Regera. It's finished in Raven Black (metallic with a tiny bit of blue) and has our new forged web wheels with calipers in Draco red (metallic). It has a center stripe on the hood in carbon, along with a carbon stripe along the side. The interior features Lingonberry leather with weaved inserts and black French stitching along with a black anodized center console. Oh, and LOTS of interior carbon."

How to Crash Test a $2 Million Hypercar

Whenever a very expensive car is announced, I always get asked about how these automakers crash test the cars. Do they build million dollar cars just to crash? For Koenigsegg, it's as simple as building one car and rebuilding it after every test. (Related - Koenigsegg Agera R vs Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse Drag Race) In a video by /DRIVE, Christian von Koenigsegg details how they crash test their upcoming Regera hypercar. Instead of building multiple cars to test, they've stuck with just one example to test in order to cut costs. They did this by creating a specific car for "abuse testing." von Koenigsegg notes in the video that while bigger companies have multiple examples, they just have one car that was designed so the monocoque won't be damaged. Instead, all they need to replace after testing are the body panels and other less critical parts. He also gives /DRIVE an in-depth look into the first customer car of the Regera. One neat feature he pointed out was the "electrical exhaust," which is used for the electric coolers. He notes that you won't be seeing any smoke coming from it, but during the colder seasons you may see some "hot smoking air" coming from it. Koenigsegg Agera XS: First in the US at Monterey

Two special Swedes are making an appearance at Monterey Car Week: the Koenigsegg Agera XS and Regera. For those who follow the automotive world, you're probably already well-versed in the details of the Regera. If not, here's a quick breakdown. This new hypercar is a hybrid hypercar that is powering by a twin-turbo V8 engine and three electric motors. Together, the total power output of the car is 1,500 hp and 1,475 lb-ft of torque. Without a doubt, this is the most impressive car that Koenigsegg has ever created, and that's quite an accomplishment considering what they have created. Photo: Martin JuulAs for the Agera XS, this one is a bit new to everyone. I'll begin this car's explanation by saying it's essentially an Agera RS that's been modified to drive on US roads. In fact, it's the first Agera RS in the United States. "Why the XS name, though?" That name was given to the car at the customer's request. Photo: Arnaud TaquetThe car is finished in Karosserie Orange, with a diamond-dust metallic effect. Modifications made to this bright exterior include a bespoke aerodynamic pieces, as well as the largest rear wing ever that Koenigsegg has ever fitted to a car. Inside is black Alcantara with contrasting orange stitching. Even further inside the car is a 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that's mated to a CIMA seven-speed automatic transmission.
