The Audi Q7 was first introduced over 20 years ago in 2005, bringing an SUV to the Audi lineup for the first time. Combining Audi’s signature sharp style and elegant luxury with the practicality and versatility of an SUV, the Q7 has remained a staple flagship model in the Audi lineup, and it also made way for other Audi SUV models to enter the market in a lineup that continues to grow.
Now, a third generation of the Audi Q7 is coming, and Audi is promising that it will be an exciting evolution of the principles that made the Q7 a favorite within the luxury SUV market. In an announcement teasing the new Q7, Audi says that the iconic luxury SUV’s third generation promises to have a “sporty, powerful design, a highly versatile interior, first-class materials, user-centric technologies, and a wide spectrum of driving characteristics, from comfortable to dynamic.:
While the Q7 historically served as an SUV flagship for Audi, its third generation will be joined by a new flagship, the Audi Q9. Previously, Audi showed off the interior for its new full-size flagship luxury SUV, and also announced that the upcoming Audi Q9 will feature groundbreaking headlight technology for the United States market.
In past generations, the Audi Q7 has been a pioneering vehicle for Audi, featuring the only use of a V12 TDI diesel engine in a series production passenger car, as well as being a canvas for some of Audi’s most exclusive echelons for luxury. In addition, the SQ7 combines the model’s practicality with a performance-focused edge and added power.
As Audi gets closer to unveiling the third generation of the Q7, the anticipation builds for Audi to build on the legacy of the model. As the brand’s first SUV nameplate, and one of the most celebrated icons in Audi’s lineup over 20 years later, the newest generation of the Audi Q7 has big shoes to fill.
