Audi A6 e-tron and Q6 e-tron Get Smarter for 2027

Audi sharpens its electric lineup for 2027 with focused hardware and software updates on the A6 Sportback e-tron and Q6 e-tron. This announcement comes as the German brand hits a pivotal reset button in the U.S. market. While 2025 was a transition year defined by import hurdles and model changeovers, a massive jump in Q6 e-tron sales, which rose from 966 units in 2024 to 17,207 units in 2025, as availability improved, was a strong sign of where demand currently sits. For 2027, the big news is inside the cabin. Audi is overhauling the "Digital Stage" with a much friendlier MMI system. Instead of digging through dense lists of text, you’ll get clean visual tiles that feel a lot more like using your phone. They’ve even swapped app backgrounds to white so you can spot what you need faster, and the 3D car model on your screen will actually match your car’s specific paint color. The driver’s view is getting a "less is more" treatment, too. The virtual cockpit now offers three simple views you can toggle from the wheel: classic gauges, a big map, or a dedicated safety-tech view. Best of all, Audi, like several automakers, has listened to feedback from customers and ditched the touch-sensitive steering wheel sliders. They’re bringing back physical buttons and a scroll wheel for volume and menus. <- Gallery -> Safety and convenience are also getting a boost with a new integrated 4K dashcam tucked behind the rearview mirror that keeps everything local to an SD card; no data gets sent to the cloud. On the road, you’ll notice a more natural "one-pedal" driving mode that can bring you to a full stop without you even touching the brake pedal. And if you’re waiting at a charger, the new "Power Nap" mode coordinates the lights, climate, and seats to help you actually relax. The performance-focused S6 Sportback e-tron introduces a "Dynamic Plus" mode for sharper handling and more aggressive power delivery. Parking is getting easier, too, with a system that can remember five different complex maneuvers on your private property or even reverse out of a tight spot automatically. Expected in showrooms by Q2 2026, the A6 Sportback e-tron starts at $66,700 and the Q6 e-tron at $64,500. The S6 and SQ6 variants will set you back at $79,600 and $73,200, respectively. Audi Revolut F1 Team Officially Launches

By Tyler Rampersaud –  January 21, 2026

Audi Unveils R26 F1 Car

Audi announced its intentions to step onto the Formula 1 grid years ago, and since then, the legendary manufacturer has gotten to work putting the pieces together to create a team that would race on one of the most prestigious, exclusive, and intense stages in the motorsport world. Finally, the years of anticipation that have been building for Audi’s entry to F1 have come to a head, as Audi officially launched the Audi Revolut F1 Team at an event in Berlin. The car’s racing debut is set for March 8 in Australia, but the team itself had nearly 400 guests witnessing its first public appearance as the fully formed Audi Revolut F1 team, with the F1 racing car, the new Audi R26, at the center of the spectacle. The car’s power unit was developed in Neuburg an der Donau, and it’s called the AFR 26 Hybrid. Along with the car, the team’s clothing and driver overalls were also unveiled (the drivers are Gabriel Bortoleto and Nico Hülkenberg). Audi’s entry to Formula 1 marks a turning point both for the manufacturer, and for the motorsport. With a cherished legacy in motorsport, Audi is on the cusp of reviving the heritage of legends like Le Mans-winning cars and its revolutionary retro rally machines. Meanwhile, Formula 1 is entering its 77th season, with sweeping changes coming to its technical regulations. These include active aerodynamics with the previous DRS being replaced by a ‘boost mode’ with electric power, and the use of sustainable fuel, for which audi has partnered with bp. The new Audi R26 Formula 1 car, and the team that will drive it towards hopeful victory, have arrived, and they’re ready for one of the most anticipated and shaken-up seasons of Formula 1 racing yet. This '80s Retro-inspired Audi Design Study Is Actually an...

At a point in time, it seems that most auto makers have lost the plot when it comes to design. Audi is a brand known for more clinical and technical forms (barring the ever-larger grille sizes), also followed this path. But it appears that there is a design renaissance currently underway at the German marque, the first signs of which we saw with the stunning Audi Concept C, back in early September. Audi is currently the sole manufacturer to offers a five-cylinder powerplant in a production model, even as tightening emissions rules and limited applications make its long-term future uncertain. Audi’s relationship with this unique engine layout began in 1976 with the debut of the five-cylinder in the Audi 100. Since then, the configuration has powered everything from Group B rally cars to Audi’s fearsome North American Trans-Am and IMSA programs, standing apart with its unmistakable and distinctive growling exhaust note and unusual firing rhythm. Audi’s latest apprentice-built project appears to build on that. Fourteen trainees in Neckarsulm took the current RS3, ignored convention, and created the Audi GT50, a one-off machine created to mark 50 years of Audi’s iconic five-cylinder engine. What you’re looking at here is not a styling exercise, but a deliberate statement about heritage, relevance, and what still matters when everything around it points toward electrification. 50 years after Audi’s first five-cylinder production car, the GT50 arrives as a tribute to the machines Audi nearly used to dominate U.S. racing in the 1980s. The apprentices have done far more than apply a body kit, having reworked the RS3 from the ground up, overhauling the body, the interior, and even grafting on an Audi 80 onto the roof to achieve the right proportions and period-correct stance. The visual inspiration for the GT50 appears to come from the 1989 Audi 90 Quattro IMSA GTO, a car that won seven of nine races that season. You see that design lineage in the GT50’s aggressive chin spoiler, wide guards with aero-disc wheels, and body-exit exhaust. The wraparound ducktail spoiler takes cues from the 1988 Audi 200 Trans-Am car, reinforcing the North American racing narrative. Inside, the RS3’s production interior has been stripped out entirely, and in its place, you have a full roll cage, racing seats, and track-focused hardware. Mechanically, Audi made a conscious decision to leave the RS3’s turbocharged 2.5-liter five-cylinder untouched. Output stays at 400 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, and the identical 1-2-4-5-3 firing order ensures it deliveimsars the same sound signature that defined its racing predecessors. Audi, like many others, is expected to wind down production of the five-cylinder RS3 in the coming years. As previously mentioned, emissions pressure and niche positioning make the engine increasingly difficult to justify in a modern lineup. But the key takeaway here is this stunning GT50, which not only celebrates five decades of five-cylinder lineage at Audi, but it could also hint at the brand’s future design direction. Audi Revolut F1 Team Reveals Official Name Ahead Of 2026 ...

Audi’s F1 team has its official name. The anticipation for Audi to make its entry to the Formula 1 grid has been building for years since the first announcement of the manufacturer’s intentions to do so, but the countdown is finally winding down to be almost over as Audi’s Formula 1 team gets ready to race starting at the beginning of the next season in 2026. As the year draws to a close and all the teams in Formula 1 get ready for the next season, Audi is on the cusp of its debut in the prestigious and contentious series, with its official name revealed, along with its title partner and a place and time set for the debut of its racing livery. Audi’s F1 team will officially be called the Audi Revolut F1 Team, as Revolut, a global fintech company, has been announced as the team’s title partner. As part of that partnership, Revolut and Audi are set to introduce new forms of fan engagement, including race access, special activations, and in-app benefits for Revolut users. For the team itself, the partnership also means integrating Revolut Business into the Audi Revolut F1 Team’s financial operations and adding Revolut Pay to its online store for effortless checkout. January 20th, 2026, is when the Audi Revolut F1 Team will unveil its official racing livery for the 2026 season, with the launch event taking place in Berlin. A modern two-story building with large windows and "Italdesign" signage on the upper corner facade, surrounded by greenery and a cobblestone driveway, now highlights California-based UST takes majority control of Italdesign.

California-based UST Takes Majority Control of Italdesign

Back in May this year, we reported that Audi was preparing to sell Italdesign as part of a wider cost cutting effort. Staff at the firm’s Moncalieri headquarters were told during a company-wide meeting that the firm was officially on the market. That announcement raised immediate questions about the future of one of Italy’s most influential design and engineering houses. Today, the next step is confirmed. UST, headquartered in Aliso Viejo, California, will acquire a majority stake in Italdesign, while Lamborghini keeps a significant share and Audi remains a long term strategic partner and major client. Italdesign has been part of the Volkswagen Group since 2010. The firm was originally founded in 1968 by Giorgetto Giugiaro and Aldo Mantovani, helped shape more than five decades of automotive design. The design house's extensive and diverse portfolio includes iconic models like thee original Volkswagen Golf, BMW M1, DeLorean DMC 12, Maserati MC12, the Lamborghini Gallardo and the Nissan GT-R 50 NISMO. Over time, Italdesign expanded into engineering, prototyping, limited series production, and industrial design. With more than 1,300 employees across 10 international sites, the company remains profitable, though heavily dependent on Volkswagen Group contracts. That reliance became a strategic concern. Audi’s difficult 2024, marked by softer EV demand and increased global competition, placed pressure on non core assets. UST’s arrival introduces a new framework. The California based company brings AI systems, software defined vehicle development, digital ecosystem engineering, and a global workforce of more than 30,000 across 30 countries. Italdesign contributes end to end capability in design, hardware development, electronics, and small scale production. This combined capability is designed to support the development of fully modern, digitally enabled vehicles, where software and physical engineering must be developed together rather than separately. “This partnership will bring benefits to all parties involved. It will allow Italdesign to accelerate the expansion of its service portfolio in new markets and achieve deeper penetration in various international markets. Italdesign is aiming to become the first full integrator of hardware and software worldwide, both in the automotive sector and across other hightechnology industrial sectors.” - Antonio Casu, Chief Executive Officer at Italdesign Giugiaro S.p.A. UST will assume operational responsibility while honoring and building on Italdesign’s Italian heritage, design culture, and the talent of its employees. Audi’s leadership also stresses continuity. Italdesign will continue supporting Audi programs that rely on its design, prototype, and engineering expertise. The exact financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed, and the transaction is pending regulatory approval. What began as a cost driven review has now evolved into a structural shift that equips Italdesign with a global technology backbone, while keeping its identity and long-standing ties to Audi and Lamborghini intact. Audi's Five-Cylinder Engine Celebrates 50th Anniversary

Audi celebrates half a century of a unique powertrain. The five-cylinder engine, which was previously more prevalent in the automotive industry, is now a rare gem, with Audi being one of the few manufacturers dedicated to preserving it today. Audi’s compact performance car, the RS 3, brandishes the legendary 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder engine from Audi under its hood, delivering compelling performance and a unique sound experience. First introduced in 1976, the first five-cylinder Audi model was the second-generation Audi 100. Nearly 50 years later, the Audi RS 3 still uses the five-cylinder engine to create a thrilling and unique performance car sensation. However, nearly five decades of rich legacy and automotive heritage exist in between for Audi’s five-cylinder engine, and Audi is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its unique powertrain. The five-cylinder engine is responsible for a number of Audi legends, like the 1980 Audi quattro that would go on to write chapters of rally racing history, the Sport quattro that would carry that legacy even further with its Pikes Peak record, the Audi Avant RS2, the TT RS, and previous generations of Audi’s RS 3. The unique 1-2-4-5-3 firing sequence means that Audi’s five-cylinder engine has a unique and unmistakable exhaust note that has chronicled its decades of history and colored the engine’s rich heritage. Hand-built in Audi’s Győr, Hungary plant at the Bock assembly, the engine is a groundbreaking and historic powertrain with unique character, compelling power, and a cherished legacy. As Audi celebrates its 50th anniversary, its five-cylinder engine continues to make automotive history. View All Audi RS 3 For Sale Image Source: Audi

A red 2025 Audi RS e-tron GT Performance electric sports car is parked on a dirt road under a clear blue sky, with utility poles and wires in the background.

By Michael Van Runkle –  November 23, 2025

Review: 2025 Audi RS e-tron GT Performance

New 912-HP Electric Sedan Truly Takes on the Porsche Taycan Hammering launch control in Audi’s new RS e-tron GT Performance chirps the tires for a microsecond, before unleashing an unbelievable onslaught of acceleration that builds and builds into triple-digit speeds with ease. Ripping through mountain roads, the four-door sedan can also corner with the best sports cars on the planet thanks to an impeccable new adaptive suspension system and quintessential Quattro all-wheel drive. The only clue to the mass of the Performance’s electric powertrain emerges whenever I slammed hard on the brakes, which overwhelms the tires due to battery weight and quickly brought on the shudder of ABS pulses. The new Performance trim of the RS e-tron GT deserved a few rounds of hard canyon carving over my week-long loan, if only to explore the massive step up in power from 637 hp previously (with overboost) to a new peak of 912 hp from dual electric motors. In fact, it’s the most powerful Audi ever – and by a long shot. Increased battery capacity, now up to 105 kilowatt-hours, still allows for a range of 278 miles despite the power gains. And yet, as with so many EVs, maintaining that range forced the Performance to tip the scales well above 5,000 pounds. Perhaps the most impressive part about the Performance is how well Audi camouflages that weight using a new dual-chamber and dual-valve adaptive air suspension system to impart a strong sense of agility. Of course, 912 horsepower helps by delivering the kind of brutal gut punch – really, at any speed – formerly reserved for seven-figure supercars. Activating launch control off the line requires selecting RS Performance mode, then turning traction control fully off. Push the brake pedal all the way to the floor, then the accelerator, and for a few seconds the whole car then seems to hunker down like a cheetah waiting to pounce before unleashing so much power. Audi claims a 0-60 time of just 2.4 seconds, but by the seat of my pants, the Performance felt even quicker. A serious set of massive carbon-ceramic brakes (optional as part of the Dynamic Plus Package for $11,000) easily hauls down that speed, with barely perceptible modulation between 400 kilowatts of regen and more traditional friction braking. In fact, even with the tires fully warmed up on a hot day, I found the 420-mm and 410-mm front and rear rotors can easily overwhelm traction of the EV-specific Pirelli P-Zero NFO Elect tires. A car with this much power, with such great handling despite so much weight, truly deserves more performance-oriented tires—Michelin Pilot Sports sure seem worthy. Audi ensured the Performance trim prioritizes handling just as much as straightline starting and stopping, and the steering seems borrowed directly from the RS e-tron GT’s Porsche Taycan sibling. So dialed in and precise, with just enough resistance to cornering from the thin-rimmed “squircle” steering wheel, which firms up predictably in more aggressive modes. I strongly suspect that lessons learned on this car may well have trickled down to lower-spec models, including the recently unveiled A5 and Q5 that improved significantly on previous Audis’ typically lightweight and numb steering. There’s no “Catch-22” here, either: The sheer pace and handling prowess never impinge on a smooth and luxurious ride. As with other Audis, and especially the electrics, this incredibly powerful sedan glides over rough roads and absorbs more bumps with aplomb, as wind or tire noise, and zero creaks or rattles intrude on the serene cockpit. The new suspension makes a huge difference, broadening the capability for the Performance to float along in Comfort mode or tighten up body roll with any of the three RS modes selected. Even rolling the windows down makes minimal noise, and amid the silent reverie, turning up the Bowers & Wilkins sound system reveals such crisp highs and deep bass that even familiar songs on my usual playlists began to sound brand-new again. I always turned down the fake powertrain sounds, though, and activated those powerful seat massagers to enter full EV bliss mode. Speaking of convenience, that suspension also enables “Elevated entry” mode, which puffs up the car by a few inches to make getting in and out a little easier for taller drivers. But that does bring up the e-tron GT’s biggest issue, a notable lack of space throughout the compact interior despite the car’s large exterior footprint. At six-foot-one I fit just fine int he front seat. But where other automakers optimize skateboard battery layouts to create more luxurious cabin configurations, the Porsche-Audi siblings do not – only a large trunk for weekend luggage or golf clubs seems fitting, but don’t expect much in the way of rear seat head or legroom here. Similarly, it’s odd that Elevated entry can almost immediately raise the entire car by up to a max of 42 millimeters (1.65 inches) but Audi still decided against a front-axle lift option. The nose of the RS e-tron GT Performance will therefore scrape on moderate driveways and drainage dips, even in the most lifted suspension setting. Luckily, the copious use of carbon-fiber trim doesn’t extend to a front splitter which might get damaged due to the lack of front-axle lift. The range of 278 miles seemed legit, too, and plenty sufficient for daily life, if not quite ideal for long road trips. I never needed to charge over a full week of daily driving and canyon carving, though of course, the inevitable urge to enjoy all those 912 horsepower with repeated romps on the throttle pedal does eat into battery charge quite rapidly. I also never noticed any power de-rating or overheating while ripping through Malibu canyons on days that climbed up to the high-80s, weather conditions which typically frustrate other high-performance electrics. Plus, the peak charge rate for the Performance increases to 320 kilowatts, which Audi claims will allow for a 10-80% fast charge in just 18 minutes. I do prefer the Audi design versus the smoother and less futuristic Porsche Taycan, for all but the rear end (other than the Taycan Cross Turismo wagon, anyway). And the interior is more quintessential Audi, with sculptural design elements throughout from the door pulls to the dash trim. A carbon-fiber roof rather than panoramic glass helps to keep the interior cooler—pun intended—but some of the forged carbon-fiber trim might go a little overboard, dropping the restrained German aesthetic in favor of more flashy bits on the mirrors, side sills, front and rear aero inlets, and especially the wide dash. The Forged Carbon Package on this press loaner contributed $8,400 to a $190,690 MSRP, up from $167,000 to start. It also includes the 21-inch wheels in addition to the miracle material, but probably matters less than the Dynamic Plus Package that adds the active suspension and carbon-ceramic brakes. To my eye, the piano-black plastic of the center console also should be in carbon or at least brushed metal, since it gets dirty quickly and stands out as looking much cheaper than the rest of the cockpit. And I’d spec my RS e-tron GT Performance in any color other than this Progressive Red Metallic paintjob, for a restrained daily driver that can easily double as an absolute screamer when the time comes. A silent screamer, that is. View All Audi RS eTron GTs For Sale Images: Michael Van Runkle

Audi Reveals The R26 Concept Ahead of Its Formula 1 Debut

Audi previews its Formula 1 identity. Audi’s long-teased entry into Formula 1 just got even more real. With the debut of the Audi R26 Concept in Munich, the automotive powerhouse finally pulled the cover off what its future in motorsport’s top tier might actually look like. It wasn’t a fiery spectacle or a nostalgia play, but instead, it was precise, restrained, and unmistakably Audi. With just 115 days before its first Grand Prix, the brand’s message was clear: this isn’t about joining the grid for attention. It’s all about translating Audi’s design DNA and engineering winning performance into one of the most unforgiving sports on the planet. The R26 Concept is a work of art in itself. It showcases how Audi plans to carry its clean, geometric design language from the road to the racetrack, with the same detailed surfacing that defines its modern lineup. Titanium grey, carbon black, and flashes of a new “Audi red” frame a minimalist vision of what the brand’s Formula 1 presence will be like on the grid. Chief Creative Officer Massimo Frascella calls it “clear, technical, intelligent, and emotional,” which, in Audi terms, means a car that feels purposely engineered rather than just merely decorated. There’s even talk of the red rings being a subtle yet bold visual cue that signals a new era for the four rings brand. But behind the design lies something much larger. Formula 1 is changing fast, with new hybrid regulations and a growing push toward sustainability, and Audi sees it as the right time to jump in headfirst. Its power unit is being developed in Neuburg, the chassis in Hinwil, and a new tech office has opened in the UK’s “Motorsport Valley.” Add in a mix of experienced and young drivers, and Audi’s lineup looks more like a long-term project than a season-quick headline grab. It’s a big leap, but the team seems committed to learning fast, and, in true Audi fashion, refining relentlessly. For a brand that built its reputation on rally stages and Le Mans podiums, Formula 1 seems like both a natural progression and a bold reset. The R26 Concept doesn’t scream for attention either. That sense of control, of quiet confidence, feels rare in a sport that thrives on drama, and maybe that’s the point. And when the first car lines up on the grid in Melbourne in 2026, it’ll mark Audi’s most ambitious attempt yet to prove that clarity, design, and precision still matter at 200 mph. Audi Concept C Debuts In London

Audi’s new sports car concept comes to London. Audi is missing a sports car, and the gap that the R8 and the TT left behind when they were discontinued is a significant one. However, Audi may have an answer, as a new concept car has emerged that is said to preview an upcoming all-electric sports car. That is the Concept C, and featuring clean, minimalist design and elegant proportions, the Concept C proposes a balance between the futurism of electric cars and the classic driving joy of many of Audi’s past icons like the Quattro, the TT, and the R8, all of which have been cited as inspirations for the Concept C. After its original unveiling, the Audi Concept C has become a street-legal prototype, and Audi has teased that a production car that is inspired by it is underway. Building up even more hype for a new Audi sports car, the Concept C was showcased in London at an exclusive event, showing off the roadster and its apparent influence on the future of Audi’s design philosophy. The stunning design of the coupe, featuring a minimalist silhouette, a titanium-inspired color, and an interior finished with luxurious, tactile materials and solutions, previews an Audi sports car that blends performance, luxury, beauty, and pure driving pleasure, all while highlighting the cutting-edge innovation of an all-electric powertrain. As the new Concept arrives in London, even more anticipation is building for the next chapter of Audi sports cars. View All Audi For Sale Image Source: Audi

Audi Continues Partnership With Major League Soccer

Audi continues one of its premier sports partnerships. While it isn’t as popular in the States as it is elsewhere, soccer is one of the most celebrated and popular sports in the world, and the game has made international superstars out of athletes, as well as some of the world’s most passionate, loyal fans. In North America, Major League Soccer has been bringing the sport to prominence with teams in the United States and Canada, and Audi has announced the renewal of its multi-year partnership with Major League Soccer after celebrating ten years of the collaboration. The renewal means that Audi is set to remain MLS’s Official Automotive Partner, and as a prominent partner for the league, Audi will also be highly present in some of MLS’s most intense and competitive moments as the years go on. To celebrate the partnership as it currently stands, as well as its renewal, Audi created a 30-second spot called “The Assist,” which is debuted during the Audi 2025 MLS Cup Playoffs Wild Card Matches on October 22. Starring Audi’s flagship all-electric model, the Audi RS e-tron GT performance, the advertisement will air exclusively on Apple TV during the MLS Cup on December 6. In addition to the league, Audi’s partnership with MLS includes participation with specific teams and their local activities, meaning Audi has a front-row seat to cultivating love and passion for the iconic sport of soccer among new fans throughout the United States and Canada. With a strong partnership already, the continuation of Audi’s partnership with MLS is an exciting new chapter in the story. View All Audi For Sale Image Source: Audi
