New Bentley Bentayga Speed Breaks Goodwood Hillclimb Record

Bentley’s new performance SUV dominates the Goodwood hillclimb.

Having retired its iconic W12 powertrain over a year ago, Bentley radically reimagined the heart of its performance-oriented ultra-luxury vehicles, the Speed lineup. Now, the new Bentley Bentayga Speed uses a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 with 641 horsepower to exceed the power of the previous generation’s W12 engine, making the new Bentley Bentayga Speed the most powerful and fastest production Bentayga yet.

At this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, one of the most prestigious and anticipated automotive events in the United Kingdom and worldwide, the new Bentayga Speed showcased its incredible performance by taking on the famed Hillclimb race at the event, and its completion time of only 55.8 seconds made the new Bentley Bentayga Speed the fastest ICE-powered production SUV in the history of the Festival of Speed.

During the record-breaking run, the power and dynamics of the new Bentayga Speed were showcased beautifully, with the ultra-luxe high-performance SUV reaching speeds of 130 mph, with the ability to go from 0-60 in just 3.4 seconds with Bentley’s in-house driving specialist Andy Marson behind the wheel.

Flat out, the new Bentayga Speed can reach a top speed of 193 mph, a staggering number for an SUV, and beyond production vehicles, the time is second only to Bentley’s Pikes Peak Bentayga, a one-off that was modified for racing purposes. Even a wet track at Goodwood couldn’t stop the new Bentayga Speed from setting a new record, cementing its status as a new chapter for Bentley’s performance engineering and a new standard for ultra-luxurious high-performance SUVs.
