Bentley is on the cusp of introducing its first-ever BEV, the Torcal. The model is simultaneously a futuristic, high-tech reimagination of what a Bentley can be, and also an ode to the ultra-luxurious craftsmanship, design, elegance, and heritage that have characterized the manufacturer for over a century. As the Torcal approaches its debut, Bentley has revealed the new materials and finishes that showcase the new electric vehicle’s innovative approach to Bentley opulence, while also expanding Bentley’s own palette.

Personalization, artisan craftsmanship, and luxurious materials are central to Bentley’s brand, with beautiful leathers and woods adorning Bentley interiors across decades. However, the Torcal is incorporating new materials alongside those, evolving Bentley’s luxury design ethos.

For the first time in a Bentley, the Torcal incorporates Merino wool. Partnering with Fox Brothers, a wool cloth maker that dates back to the 18th century, the Torcal uses a 100-percent Merino wool automotive fabric that combines the softness and luxury of the material with the ability to meet the demands of a luxury vehicle. The flannel is also certified by the Responsible Wool Standard, aligning with Bentley’s commitment to sustainability.

In addition, the Torcal will also introduce Ombre veneers. Combining sustainably sourced walnut offcuts and recycled paper, the veneer is made by pressing together 1,000 layers to create a seamless transition in tone that complements the shapes of the interior, going from black, to dark shades, and finishing with a natural walnut color.

Sunburst Aluminum by Mulliner is another material that is being introduced with the Torcal. It pays homage to the engine-turned aluminum that Bentleys were known for in the past. Along with the new materials and finishes being introduced with the Torcal EV, Bentley has also curated six colorways, specifically catered for the Merino Wool material. Embodying Bentley’s traditional sophistication, but with new techniques, the upcoming Torcal continues to combine classic luxury with bold innovation.
