Bentley’s Mulliner division continues to take its most intricate paint process to new heights as it delivered its first “Ombré by Mulliner” Collection to Bentley Rancho Mirage in California. The three-car lineup, a Continental GT, GTC, and Flying Spur, demonstrates the brand’s latest mastery of color transition, blending two tones seamlessly across each body. The Ombré finish first appeared publicly in August at The Quail on a Continental GT Speed, followed by a Flying Spur in September. This latest regional collection marks the first time the process has been applied to a Continental GTC, expanding the possibilities of Bentley’s bespoke program. It follows Rancho Mirage’s earlier “Expressions of Texture” commission from 2024, strengthening the dealership’s reputation for championing Mulliner’s craftsmanship in the U.S. The Continental GTC showcases a striking Sunburst Gold to Orange Flame gradient inspired by the tones of Monument Valley and the Painted Desert. Its open-top configuration highlights the transition, which continues inside with Sunburst Gold hides up front and orange leather at the rear, accented by Tangerine stitching and pinstriping. The Continental GT Speed takes a cooler approach, shifting from bright Topaz into Windsor Blue, a palette reminiscent of Monterey’s coastal scenery and the Pacific Ocean. Inside, Topaz leather fronts blend into Ocean Blue at the rear, with Dragon Fly accents along the piping and stitching. The Flying Spur Speed, in metallic Tungsten fading to Onyx black, draws from Southern California’s night skies. Its interior is a stark contrast with Porpoise leather up front and Anthracite in the rear, complemented by Stratos blue highlights. Each model features 22-inch ten-spoke swept wheels painted to match its two-tone body, with different hues on the front and rear. Inside, Satin Beluga painted veneers and color-matched treadplate carriers extend the gradient theme across the cabin. Creating the Ombré finish is a process that takes an arduous 60 hours at Bentley’s Dream Factory in Crewe, England. Two specialists hand-apply multiple paint layers across the doors, sills, and roof to achieve a perfectly symmetrical fade. Because each pigment behaves differently, the technicians adjust their spraying technique continuously to ensure a flawless and seamless transition between the two colors.
