BMW Fine-Tunes The New i3 In Arjeplog, Sweden

The second Neue Klasse model from BMW is getting ready to break cover.

The new BMW i3 is going to premiere on March 18 as the second model to be created using the new Neue Klasse technology that BMW is pioneering for a new cohort of vehicles. One of the most important pieces to the Neue Klasse puzzles is BMW’s “Heart of Joy,” an advanced computer system that makes the Neue Klasse lineup more technologically advanced than any BMW production model before. Along with that, the sixth-generation eDrive system and the i3’s all-electric powertrain are being fine-tuned with a round of testing in Arjeplog, Sweden.

Located within the Arctic Circle, the BMW Group winter test center in Sweden serves the purpose of ensuring cars can perform even in the most extreme conditions of cold temperature and low traction during the winter season, and the i3 is currently undergoing its final fine-tuning ahead of being ready for production.

Pushing various functions of the new all-electric BMW i3, like its advanced computer systems, its drivetrain, and its powertrain to the limits in the extreme climate of the Arctic Circle, this final round of winter fine-tuning and testing comes as the new BMW i3 is set to start production in the second half of 2026, and when it does, it will boast 800-volt technology, 469 horsepower, and 476 lb/ft of torque.
