In an era eager for sustainable and powerful solutions, the BMW iX5 Hydrogen recently completed a rigorous round of hot-weather testing in the United Arab Emirates. Braving temperatures up to 113°F, the pilot fleet demonstrated the practicality and efficiency of its fuel cell drive system. In harsh conditions, including dust, varying gradients, and high humidity, the iX5 Hydrogen’s performance remained unfazed. The iX5 Hydrogen pilot fleet is actively testing across multiple continents, including Europe, Japan, Korea, China, the USA, and the Middle East.
The overarching goal is to spotlight the everyday usability of hydrogen-powered vehicles while gathering essential data for future mass-produced models. BMW's fuel cell system generates an output of 125 kW/170 hp, while the overall drive system generates over 401 horsepower. Powered by 700-bar hydrogen tanks made from carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP), the iX5 Hydrogen offers a commendable 313-mile range. Through these advancements, BMW is supporting the development of regional hydrogen refueling infrastructure. View all BMW X5 models currently for sale on duPont REGISTRY by clicking the link below.
