2018 BMW M5 Top Speed on the Autobahn

If you have wondered what the latest M5 is capable of, our friends at AutoTopNL decided to hit the Autobahn with the latest beast from Bavaria. The BMW F90 Series M5 was unveiled in 2017, based on the G30 version of the 5 Series Sedan. While the base model 5 Series is available with four-cylinder and straight six turbocharged power, the M5 offers 591 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. If you opt for the Competition Package, you will have 617 hp and the same torque. The kicker is that that immense level of torque is available from 1,800 to 5,800 rpm. The body is 1/4" lower and is available with AWD for the first time. It was this model BMW used to set new records for continuous drifting records a few months ago. The advanced aluminum & high strength steel space frame of the 7 series was scaled down, and it allows this M5 to be 88 lbs lighter than its predecessor (Even with AWD). Top speed is limited to 190 mph, so we feel like that needs to be verified on film. The 40i has a 335 hp six-cylinder, and the 50i has a 456 hp 4.4 liter V8. The wheelbase is 1.6" longer and the chassis is 2.6" wider. The roof also gained an inch to increase headroom and cargo capacity.Senior VP of Design Adrian van Hooydonk said:  "The BMW X5 embodies the origins of the BMW X family and, in its fourth generation, sends out its most powerful message yet in terms of presence and modernity. It defines a new X design language – robust, clear and precise.” Just like every other X series, it is rolling off the BMW USA assembly line in Spartanburg, South Carolina. In addition, they are building a new line for the upcoming X7. Unreleased 2020 BMW Z4 Caught Under Camo

Everyone's favorite roadster (the Z4) is poised to return. BMW and Toyota have collaborated on this project, and it's almost ready for production. In a press release this morning, BMW outlines a few details of their new model. The engineers from Bavaria have had a tough job, being stationed in the south of France. The Autodrome de Miramas is not as public as the 'Ring, so it allows the camouflaged prototypes to be tested to their limits away from spy photographers. It has a high-speed loop along with a figure 8 and skidpad. From washboard gravel to new asphalt, it has allowed them to dial in the active differential in conjunction with the Active M Suspension. Of course, the top-level models will have an M-derived twin turbo straight six, but we're hoping for a plug-in hybrid sharing the technology of the 530e iPerformance. Toyota was asked to help because their version will be the return of the Supra. This 5th generation model will hopefully end the craze of MKIV Supra owners who seem to think their 1993 design is still relevant. It won't be long until the new BMW Z4 M40i hits our dealers, so click the link below to get yours reserved.Browse BMW Z4 For Sale

BMW Turned Into Driving Jacuzzi Goes for a Wash

Jacuzzis are meant for the backyard and BMWs are meant for the road, but don't tell that to Colin Furze. Who is that? Just a madman that creates mad creations who is also the host of BMW Mad Mods on YouTube. If you've ever gone down a YouTube rabbit hole, odds are you've seen some of his creations. In the new BMW Mad Mods episode, Furze takes his famous BMW Jacuzzi out of the garage and gives the viewers a tour of the outlandish vehicle. It comes with a sealed cabin that can be filled with water, which can be heated and bubbled-up just like a real jacuzzi. The best part is that this BMW is a convertible and gives passengers the true open-air jacuzzi experience. But, Furze didn't just drop the top and take it around. No, he took it through a car wash where they use this washing pressure machines, because why the heck not. You can see that hilarious drive-thru in the video below. The funniest part has to be when they turn on the "jets" and the shampoo fills the car up with bubbles.

More Power Announced in the 2019 BMW M5 Competition

The new 2019 BMW M5 Competition has just been announced as a more powerful and more "distinct" take on the already extreme 5-Series variant. Power in the new M5 Competition's 4.4-liter TwinPower Turbo V8 has been increased by 25 horsepower over the standard M5, resulting in 625 hp. Torque remains unchanged at 553 lb-ft, but it's now available in a 200-rpm wider band (1,800 to 5,800 rpm) than the standard M5. This power translates to a 0-62 mph time of 3.3 seconds and 0-124 mph time of just 10.8 seconds. Aiding in these sprints is BMW's eight-speed M Steptronic transmission, complete with three different modes: efficient, sporty and ultra-dynamic.BMW Dishes Out New 8-Series SpecsBMW enhanced the look of the new M5 Competition through a list of design features. On the outside, high-gloss black paint is found on the mirror caps, kidney grille, side gills, rear apron insert and trunk lip thanks to the Shadow Line trim. The sports exhaust system also comes in black, along with the "M5 Competition" badge. Inside are M Performance seat belts, floormats with special piping and the "M5" logo, and an "M Competition" graphic that pops up on the instrument cluster.Pricing has not been announced just yet, but we'll report it as soon as we learn of the MSRP.

BMW i8 Roadster & New i8 Coupe Photoshoot

We've waited long enough! BMW has finally confirmed the i8 Roadster will arrive in May. It will be sold alongside a 2nd generation i8 Coupe. Battery capacity has been increased from 20 to 34 Amp-hours, so the gasoline generator has been reprogrammed to only awaken under extreme conditions. The new i8 and its convertible sibling have 12 more electric horsepower for a total of 143. Last year our demo model had an electric range of 25 miles, so the new one has been bumped to 34. While the coupe is still a 2+2, the i8 Roadster trades the back seats for a powered convertible top. Once the top is stowed, the vertical rear glass moves into an optimal setting to prevent a turbulent cockpit.New 2019 BMW i8 Roadster and Coupe RevealedHigh voltage charging is available at home, and it will top off the battery in under 3 hours. The Roadster weighs in at 3,516 lbs, only 132 lbs heavier than the coupe. You will have 374 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque in a stylish carbon fiber body- what more could you ask for? BMW 8 Series Testing

BMW Dishes Out New 8-Series Specs

Are you still upset about the death of the BMW 6 Series? Dry those tears, because the new 8 Series is almost ready for production. In a press release this morning we have learned a few details of the M850i xDrive Coupe. Final testing is underway on a new V8 engine and the xDrive system. An active rear differential works with active roll control and active steering to make it "The Ultimate Driving Machine".While the new engine might weigh the same as its predecessor, the redesign offers 68 more horsepower for a total of 530 hp. Torque is rated at 553 lb-ft, and it arrives at only 1,800 rpm. With specs like these, this car should outperform any M6 along with any other luxury coupe. BMW has wisely abandoned the dual-clutch transmission, and the new 8-speed Steptronic is a beefy traditional automatic.Woah: The BMW M8 Supercar is Actually HappeningChristian Billig is head of Drive System Integration, and he said: “The new V8 engine offers exactly the right balance between performance and emotion, which is what also sets the new BMW 8 Series Coupe apart. Above all, the eight-cylinder harmonizes perfectly with the further developed Steptronic transmission during dynamic acceleration. At the same time, the sound development of the sports exhaust system authentically reflects the car’s power delivery. And thanks to BMW xDrive and active rear axle locking, the engine always transfers power precisely to where it can be best converted into driving dynamics."The new 8 Series is seen as a successor to the i8 and Z8, and it is probably twice as fast as the V12 powered E31 coupes. Those 8 Series examples have mostly been sidelined by expensive repair costs and single digit mpg. So the resurrection of the 8 Series is one of the most anticipated cars in years, and we can barely wait to get behind the wheel. BMW Unveils iX3 Concept In Beijing

China is a big market for automakers, so the Beijing Auto Show is a perfect place for a new BMW. Taking center stage in their display is the new iX3 Concept. The electric motor, drivetrain, and associated high-voltage components are built as a single unit. Offering 270 horsepower and a range of 249 miles, it could be a foreshadowing of the iNEXT, a production electric car that is slated to arrive in 2021.New BMW Lifestyle Collections LaunchedNot to be outdone by other luxury brands, the battery is capable of high-voltage charging in only 30 minutes. It has a capacity of 70 kWh, making it very competitive in this segment. While some might call it a small SUV or a crossover, they use the term SAV for Sports Activity Vehicle.
