Watch CEO Mate Rimac Reveal How The Bugatti Tourbillon’s ...

The Tourbillon marks a radical evolution for French hypercar maker Bugatti. Unveiled in June last year, it is the brand’s first new model under CEO Mate Rimac’s leadership and the first model since, to ditch forced induction. That’s right, no turbos. The quad-turbos seen on the Veyron and Chiron’s 8.0-liter W16 has now made way for a naturally-aspirated V16 hybrid in Bugatti’s latest flagship. In a rare behind-the-scenes video part of the documentary series from Bugatti, ā€˜A New Era’, Rimac invites viewers into the car’s Validation Prototype (VP) phase, the second major milestone in Bugatti’s three-part development process in Episode 8. Just like the Veyron and Chiron before it, the Tourbillon moves from the Experimental Phase (XP) to (VP) and then eventually to the pre-series production, where everything is locked in. At the heart of the Bugatti Tourbillon lies an all-new 8.3-liter V16 engine developed by Cosworth, which by itself produces 1,000 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque. Throw in three electric motors and the Tourbillon has a combined system output of 1,800 horsepower and 1,696 pound-feet of torque. It pairs with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission and a single rear 250 kW electric motor. But operating at 800 volts, the electric motors do more than provide instantaneous torque, as they also generate power, recharge the battery, and serve as the starter motor, eliminating the need for a separate 12-volt starting system. "The electric powertrain, being very high tech, very high performance, is actually enabling this very emotional combustion engine. Where the combustion engine isn’t able to deliver its full power, the electric motor can with the roar of a V16 naturally aspirated engine. This is how electrification should enhance, not compromise, the driving experience." - Mate Rimac, CEO Bugatti-Rimac Upfront, two more electric motors, each with their own gearbox and inverter, live inside a unified housing and offer torque vectoring and all-wheel drive, all while saving space. There’s also the 25 kWh, 800–volt T-shaped oil-cooled battery, embedded into the chassis, packing 1,500 cells, all while keeping the center of gravity low. The Tourbillon offers up to 37 miles (60 kilometers) of all-electric driving range. Despite being a hybrid, the entire powertrain module on the Tourbillon weighs 947 pounds (430 kg), making it lighter than the engine and transmission of the outgoing Chiron. You no longer need the additional plumbing and intercoolers found on the quad-turbo W16. Even the forged aluminium suspension is 3D-printed and 45% lighter than before. Although it packs a longer V16 compared to the old W16, the aforementioned dual front-electric motors, complex cooling system, and the T-Shaped battery, the overall footprint of the Tourbillon has been reduced, with increased luggage space compared to its predecessors, all made possible due to clever packaging. But really, a Bugatti all about big speed, and the company claims a top speed of 277 mph, but the goal will eventually be to outgun the Chiron Super Sport 300+. Bugatti will only build 250 examples of the $4.1 million Tourbillon, with deliveries beginning in 2026. View All Bugattis For Sale " width="680"> Source: Bugatti

With Molsheim firing on all cylinders, more Bugatti Mistrals are rolling off the production line. It seems like just yesterday that the automotive world was honoring the end of the Veyron and celebrating the start of the Chiron as Bugatti's push towards the future of hypercar engineering. Now, here we are nine years later, welcoming the Mistral as the successor and its newly appointed status as the fastest roadster in the world. And now that Bugatti's factory has been fully transformed and revamped to satisfy the production of the new Mistral, jaw-dropping specs are now rolling off the production line and making their journey to new homes worldwide. Bugatti recently took to Instagram to show off yet another incredible completed build of the 99 examples to be produced. Utilizing Bugatti's limitless palette of colors and finishes, this Mistral features a subtly stealthy Matt Argent and gloss Beluga Black paint scheme with Bugatti Light Blue Sport accents. The contrast between the two finishes highlights the Mistral's body styling and Bugatti's focus on incorporating design DNA from past icons. Lightweight silver and black forged wheels provide the traction needed to handle its brutal acceleration, while an advanced carbon ceramic brake system supplies the stopping power for precise cornering. Inside, the cabin further proves the boundless possibilities of Bugatti customization. Vibrant touches of Tangerine and Bugatti Light Blue Sport accentuate the Mistral's black leather base as a nod to some of its most historic shades. Cross-weaved leather on the sports seats and inner door trim showcase the detail and craftsmanship that goes into configuring a seven-figure Bugatti hypercar. Matte carbon trim solidifies its lightweight performance focus, while comfort and luxury amenities make the Bugatti Mistral the fastest daily-drivable roadster in the world. The Bugatti Mistral marks the end of an era, sending off the iconic 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16 in serious style. It packs the same 1,578 horsepower output as the Chiron Super Sport 300+ and holds the ability to reach over 260 mph. The combination of its lightweight chassis, sharp aerodynamics, and dual-clutch gearbox help it stay cool and composed even at high speed. Now, with another Bugatti Mistral on the road, we can't wait to see what rolls off the Molshiem production line next. Check Out This 1-of-1 $4.7M Bugatti Bolide Finished In Co...

The one-of-a-kind spec just wrapped up production and is on its way to a new home. When Bugatti first revealed the Bolide as its newest track-only hypercar, its sole focus was delivering a professional racing experience for its most beloved clientele. Whereas models like the Veyron and Chiron held the perfect balance between luxury and performance, the Bolide represents Bugatti's raw side and its historic legacy in motorsports. And while additional options and personalization for a stripped-down, track-focused race car are few and far to come by, owners are differentiating themselves from the other 40 examples with head-turning paint jobs. Celebrating the completion of each of its hypercar builds with pride, Bugatti recently shared pre-delivery photos of this jaw-dropping Bolide from its Molsheim factory. Uploaded to Instagram before being shipped to its lucky new owner, this Bolide spec shies away from Bugatti's exposed carbon launch livery with a color combination you'd never expect. Copper and Brown Carbon reimagine the Bolide in a whole new light with contrast that accentuates its aero-focused body, highlighting other areas of the car that would normally be hidden with darker finishes. Components like its massive exposed carbon roof scoop and shark fin rear wing stand out even more with a touch of shimmering copper. No configuration is complete without honoring Bugatti's heritage by incorporating the French flag, which is proudly handpainted on each side splitter. Inside, the cabin of this Bugatti Bolide would have anyone second-guessing it as an everyday road car. It is layered in rich, luxurious light brown leather and exposed brown carbon to match the exterior. Every inch of the interior screams Bugatti craftsmanship, knowing that the driver and passenger will be suited up in race gear every time it moves. The Bugatti Bolide is all about extreme track performance, and at the heart of it lies an 8.0L quad-turbocharged W16 engine that pushes out a mind-blowing 1,578 horsepower. Bugatti claims a top speed well north of 300 mph, and while it's more track monster than grand tourer, the Bolide's acceleration numbers are 0 to 60 mph in under 2.2 seconds. Now in the hands of its new owner, we hope to see this 1-of-1 Bugatti Bolide on a race track in the future. View All Bugatti Hypercars For Sale Source: Bugatti Instagram

How Bugatti’s W18 Veyron Concepts Led To The Most Influen...

Discover the concepts that lead to the Veyron. Unseemingly innocent to today's automotive standards, the quest to achieve hypercar status for a manufacturer was not as straightforward as one might believe. Massive powertrains paired with hybrid-assisted electric motors now prove to be the winning recipe to obtain those four-figure horsepower figures successfully. Still, it's important to remind ourselves where the passion and drive to push performance boundaries came from. While one may argue the true definition of a "hypercar" with iconic names like the McLaren F1, no other car has shaken up the automotive world quite like the Bugatti Veyron. Understanding its moment in time as a successor to the legendary EB110 and the predecessor to modern marvels like the Chiron, Mistral, Bolide, and Tourbillon, we're often left wondering how the Veyron came to fruition as a timeless icon. The source behind Bugatti, and more specifically the Veyron, began with the ambition of the former Chairman of the Volkswagen Group, Ferdinand Karl Piëch. The idea of engineering a car that would break the boundaries of performance, design, and luxury came while Piëch dreamed up a revolutionary 18-cylinder engine during a train ride in Japan. The very first sketches of his W18 appeared on an envelope and became the driving force behind Bugatti after Volkswagen AG acquired brand rights in May 1998. Bugatti EB 118 When the EB 118 debuted in 1998 at the Paris Motor Show, it marked the beginning of Bugatti's post-war revival under Volkswagen Group. Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, the two-door grand tourer came equipped with a massive front-mounted 6.3L W18 engine that produced 547 horsepower and sent power to all four wheels. The car's long hood, central spine detail, and upright stance were more about presence than performance. Inside, the car leaned heavily into retro-inspired luxury, with an Art Deco design DNA and a focus on craftsmanship. Bugatti EB 218 The EB 218 followed in early 1999, offering a sedan take on the same concept. Based on the earlier EB 112, this version was larger and aimed directly at the ultra-luxury saloon market. It kept the W18 engine and all-wheel-drive system but stretched the proportions to over 17 feet in length. With softer styling and four doors, the EB 218 emphasized comfort and size rather than performance. It wasn't trying to be sporty. It was a luxury platform that showed Bugatti's interest in building something closer to a modern-day Type 41 Royale. Bugatti EB 18/3 Chiron Things took a different turn with the EB 18/3 Chiron in September 1999. The concept ditched the front-engine layout and placed the W18 in a mid-engine configuration behind the seats. The result was a lower, more performance-focused car with more traditional supercar proportions. Designed by Fabrizio Giugiaro, it still used the same drivetrain as the earlier concepts but relied more on speed and agility. Naming it after Louis Chiron was an attempt to connect with Bugatti's racing history, but the car still felt more like a design study than a final product. Bugatti EB 18/4 Veyron A month later, the EB 18/4 Veyron was revealed in Tokyo. This time, the design came from within Volkswagen Group, with Jozef Kabaň leading the project. The EB 18/4 looked much closer to a production model, even if it still used the W18. However, the limitations of the W18, especially in heat and packaging, soon led to a switch to a newly developed quad-turbocharged W16. Still a concept at this point, the EB 18/4 was the final step before the production Veyron, hinting at the shape and specs of what would become one of the most influential hypercars of the 21st century. How Bugatti Design’s New Berlin HQ Will Shape Its Future ...

Bugatti has just unveiled its sprawling new 12,000 square-foot design studio in Berlin, Germany. The building, once powered the city’s U-Bahn (metro) system in the 1920s and was subsequently turned into a techno club in the 1990s. With its original ceramic tiles and cast-iron staircases intact, this space fuses old-world charm with cutting-edge tech and will now play host to one of the most elite automotive design teams in the world, represented by 22 nationalities. The location is no coincidence. The city’s creative culture and access to world-class design talent in Europe made the German capital a natural choice. Design for the French marque, be it Jean Bugatti’s work on the Type 57C Atlantic back in the 1930s or the impressive Veyron and Chiron in the VW era since the early 2000s, has been an integral part of its identity and has set new standards in the industry. The new Berlin hub positions Bugatti in what is quietly becoming a design arms race among top-tier automakers. Porsche recently made waves by integrating Apple’s Vision Pro headset into customization, allowing for an immersive, full-scale virtual reality experience.Ā  Now, Bugatti is taking that a step further with a state-of-the-art studio outfitted with head-tracking sensors and VR visualization tools. They give designers the ability to walk around full-scale digital prototypes that only exist in code. The goal: virtually render every line, surface, and seam of a vehicle. While clay models have replaced VR, traditional design practices like hand-drawn sketches continue, with access to a curated mix of top-notch materials and full-size interior samples lining the studio’s open-plan layout. This gives clients the ability to see, touch, and configure every minute detail with designers, down to the last detail. This shift comes as the company prepares its next chapter with the V16-powered Tourbillon hypercar. The new studio will play a pivotal role in the Bugatti-Rimac partnership. Along with Bugatti’s production base in Molsheim, France, and Rimac’s €200 million ($227 million) campus in Zagreb, Croatia, the Berlin design base will serve as a key link between engineering breakthroughs and aesthetic expression.
