Multi-Award Winning Custom 1966 Chevrolet Suburban Hits the Digital Block on duPont REGISTRY Live

Dubbed “Lime Crush,” this $550,000, no-expense-spared build was commissioned for Mr. Gasket’s anniversary

Beyond the record-breaking seven-figure sales on duPont REGISTRY Live, a steady stream of highly desirable restomod consignments has been making a wave on the platform over the past month, and this multi-award-winning build currently on the digital block certainly takes the cake. This is a 1966 Chevrolet Suburban dubbed “Lime Crush,” a fully realized custom build by The Roadster Shop.

Originally commissioned for Mr. Gasket’s 50th anniversary, this Suburban reflects a complete reengineering rather than a cosmetic restoration. Boyd Coddington Jr. led the design direction, while the legendary Charlie Hutton delivered the stunning green paint finish. The project debuted at the 2013 SEMA Show and went on to secure national recognition, including a Goodguys Truck of the Year finalist position and an ISCA Millwinders Top Seven award. At its core is a GM ZZ502 big-block V8 mill that puts out over 502 horsepower and 550 pound-feet of torque, supported by Port fuel injection, and paired with a 4L85E four-speed automatic transmission. A 3.0-inch Flowmaster exhaust system sharpens the delivery, while a Strange Engineering Ford 9.0-inch rear end completes a drivetrain built for reliability. A Roadster Shop Fast Track chassis introduces independent front suspension, a true four-link rear, and BAER 14-inch six-piston brakes at all four corners. This configuration transforms ride quality and control, bringing modern capability to a platform rooted in the 1960s. One of the biggest draws of any restomod is the visual element, and this slammed ‘66 Suburban is no exception. Highlights include stretched wheel arches, tucked bumpers, shaved handles, and flush-mounted glass. The bright green finish carries depth and precision, with panel alignment executed to concours standards. Even the roof rack integrates matched surfboards, reinforcing the build’s identity. The fastidious attention to detail continues inside with the Costa Rican teakwood extending from the firewall to the rear hatch. Brown leather seating features hand-woven inserts. Vintage Air climate control and a Kicker audio system integrate cleanly into a reworked factory layout. With over $550,000 invested in this build, extensive documentation included, and a proven show history, “Lime Crush” stands as a complete expression of modern custom craftsmanship applied to a historic nameplate dating back to 1935, making the Suburban the longest-running nameplate in production in the United States.
