McLaren W1 First Drive: Ferocious Hypercar Transcends the Track

You know things are getting serious when McLaren rolls-out the ‘1’ suffix. The origin story is, of course, the very first road car McLaren ever built, the F1. Designed by visionary Formula 1 aerodynamicist and engineer Gordon Murray, it arrived in 1992 and rendered all other supercars obsolete. The tiny, lightweight F1 embraced carbon-fibre material technology, adopted a radical centre seat driving position with two passengers set back and either side and was powered by a 6.1-litre V12 engine from BMW that might as well have been passed down directly from the Gods. Game-changer? That doesn’t even come close to describing its impact, even if at the time sales didn’t come easy… The P1 was very different. Rather than a unique side project from the Formula 1 team, it was instead a statement piece for McLaren Automotive, a new road car division still in its infancy. It arrived in 2013 and was a wild-eyed showstopper. It traded the long-legged gait and supple suspension of the F1 for a weaponized hybrid system capable of delivering 903bhp and huge blue flames from its drainpipe exhaust. In Race mode, it lowered by 2-inches and its massive concave rear wing extended into the sky. The P1 was all about aerodynamic downforce, crazed acceleration and a snorting, angry soundtrack that mixed venomous twin-turbocharged V8 with the manic whirr of electric motors. Not so much a car as a force of nature. And now there’s this: The W1. It’s a true successor to the P1 with a similar brief and, on the face of it, it evolves rather than radically reinvents McLaren’s vision for the ultimate hypercar. This is not a criticism. How could it be when the result is this dramatic and has such staggering, other-worldly potential? The W1 has 1258bhp delivered to the rear wheels. It’s capable of 0-124 mph in 5.8-seconds, the quarter mile in 9.6-seconds at 167 mph and produces 2205lbs of downforce at 174 mph. The active aerodynamics – particularly a rear wing that extends way out beyond the rear of the car – are pure performance art and deliver massive aerodynamic efficiency. The result, aside from looking extremely cool, is that the W1 is McLaren’s fastest road car around a racetrack. Ever. Their benchmark circuit is the breath-taking Handling Track at the Nardo proving ground in southern Italy, where the W1 beats their previous benchmark, the flyweight McLaren Senna, by three seconds per lap. Or “a lifetime” as they call it in racing. Maybe two lifetimes! Core to the W1’s performance is the new ‘Aerocell’ carbon fibre tub. With integrated seats and a raised footwell to allow for inboard pushrod-operated front suspension – which in turn gives air a clean path to the huge underbody diffuser – it’s light, stiff, space efficient and has been instrumental in McLaren realising a full ground-effect concept. Just like last year’s F1 cars, which were the fastest ever made. There is also an active front wing and the aforementioned complex rear wing dubbed ‘Active Long Tail’. All of which is very admirable. But the ‘anhedral’ or gullwing doors and the fantastically shirnked-wrapped feel to the minimalist, highly-focussed interior are a pretty good side effect. The W1 feels special. Those fixed seats are perhaps a shade more upright than expected, and the driving position is less obviously racecar than, for example, the Aston Martin Valhalla or Ferrari F80. However, once you’ve adjusted the pedals (they move on a slider) and the delicate, slim-rimmed and alcantara-trimmed steering wheel, there’s an overwhelming sense of purpose. The cabin is so tightly tailored and imparts a sense of lightness and agility before you so much as start the all-new 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, which makes 916bhp all on its own and revs to 9200rpm. Reach up to a roof-mounted control panel to find the starter button. Maybe this fighter plane trope is a little corny, but somehow you feel thrilled rather than manipulated. The W1 has a sense of humour as well as all that motorsport-derived sophistication. There’s a short delay, but when the engine does fire it’s instant – as the high-powered hybrid system negates the need for an old-school starter motor. A sharp flare of revs tells you that this engine is hyper-responsive and angry. On some deep level your brain and body have been sent all the signals required to prepare for something new and intense. Ahead of us, an empty Mugello racetrack, so press and hold the blue button next to the red starter to select Race mode. The centre display graphic shows the W1’s transformation in real time as it lowers by 37mm at the front and 17mm at the rear whilst simultaneously undocking all that active aero goodness. Race mode is not road legal and is geo-locked. You can show your friends and neighbours the aero dance, but it won’t allow you to select a gear to actually drive unless you’re at a circuit. Incidentally, the rocker switches either side of the display binnacle allow further options now: Toggle up the Handling control on the left for Race+ (for F1-spec super smooth tracks) or stick to Race for gnarlier ones. On the right toggle select ‘GP’ for sustained performance over a stint or ‘Sprint’ to unleash all 1258bhp for a time attack. There’s also a DRS and Boost function on the steering wheel. But I guarantee you won’t have the mental capacity to use them… Exit the pitlane, pin the throttle and W1 takes maybe a millisecond or two to gather its might (the gearing stretches to around 60mph in first, nearly 100mph in second, primarily to aid traction), but then lunges at the first turn with incredible ferocity. It instantly feels light, almost like inertia is no longer a thing. McLaren really does prize lightweight engineering, and at 3084lbs (dry) the W1 has a 278lbs advantage over the Ferrari F80. Plus, Ferrari uses figures for cars fitted with every single carbon fibre option. In reality, the gap is probably wider still. The impression of agility and stunning control continues as the track is unravelled at startling pace. The electric motor mounted to the side of the new 8-speed dual-clutch transmission is good for 342bhp and 324lb ft and it boosts any low rev lethargy the new flat-plane crank V8 might have (spoiler alert: It doesn’t appear to have any), so the W1 just feels massively, almost impossibly powerful at any revs. Even so, there’s real reward for wringing it out to 9200rpm and the power curve feels superheated but organic, too. In Race mode the steering – still hydraulically powered – has less assistance and it is noticeably heavier than other McLarens. However, that resistance is welcome as it gives you something to push against and imparts so much information about the front grip level. New Pirelli Trofeo RS tyres with a bigger front footprint than P1 or Senna really help. The front-end feels incredibly secure and the rear-axle follows with perfectly-aligned precision. The whole car feels super-stiff, completely locked into the surface and inspires confidence, but there’s an inherent agility and adjustability that means you’re quickly confident to push at its limits and really impose yourself on the chassis. It’s such a complex car but the driving experience is intuitive, and the driver feels a key contributor rather than just amazed (or terrified) observer, holding on for dear life. Every dynamic ingredient really is shockingly effective and yet has a subtlety and lightness of touch. From that delicious steering to the incredible brakes, the W1 just feels so mission-focussed, so hooked-up. Only the new 8-speed gearbox is a slightly disappointment. It’s fast and punchy, but after the scintillating energy of the Ferrari F80 ’box it feels competent rather than inspired. Other quibbles – it’s okay to quibble when the starting price is $2.1-million before tax and destination charge. Well, that new twin-turbocharged V8 sounds tightly wound and aggressive but if you have a P1 tucked in the garage you’ll miss the snorting, Darth Vader-style soundscape and all the drama that goes with it. Ferrari does this better, too. The F80 sounds deathly dull from the outside but is a riot of turbochargers, electric motors and all sorts of mechanical fury within the cockpit. Even so, the W1 is wildly entertaining on track, and the rear-drive configuration makes it more of a challenge and more satisfying than the F80 when chasing lap times or just sliding around for fun. In the Ferrari, you must second-guess what the front e-axle might do, whereas in the W1 it’s all on you. There are plenty of tools to help, including the ingenious Variable Drift Control, but somehow the W1 is more heroic. Or at least fools you into feeling more heroic – which is surely the point! On the road? Nimble, loaded with feel and sublime response. The ride is noticeably tougher than, say, a 750S but the control is ramped-up too, and with a bit more speed the whole car finds a delicious rhythm. Sport mode for the drivetrain brings some nice turbo whooshes and chirps, but the noise remains high-quality rather than extreme excitement. It is perhaps the one area the W1 feels just a little too tame. Of course, there’s nothing tame about the raw performance… which is genuinely shocking and literally hurts your neck muscles after a few hours. How McLaren has given the W1 such immense traction through just two driven wheels is beyond me. So, is it worthy of that ‘1’? I think so. Perhaps we won’t be talking about $25-million auction results for the W1 in 30 years from now, as we are for the F1. Perhaps it doesn’t quite have the amazing presence and jaw-dropping star quality of the simply gorgeous P1. But it is such an intense experience and the way it marries stunning track performance with delicate poise and entertainment on normal roads is something akin to magic. Maybe not ‘the one’ but definitely a searing, outrageous addition to McLaren’s fiercest family line. Just 399 W1’s will be built and they’re all sold. I’m not surprised at all. A duPont REGISTRY Cover Car Comes Full Circle as Vector M12 “American Anthem” Heads to Auction

This Vector M12, chassis 001, also known as “American Anthem,” is the very car that appeared on the cover of duPont REGISTRY’s October 1996 issue. Nearly three decades later, it is headed to Barrett-Jackson following a recent appearance at Donuts with duPont at our Lebanon, Tennessee location. Mission Motorsports, the Franklin, Tennessee dealership run by Alex Demetriades, has the car consigned ahead of the sale. What makes this M12 special is the now iconic American-themed livery. White stars cover the deep blue nose and roof, red and white stripes sweep toward the tail, and the Statue of Liberty spans the hood and doors. Gold accents connect the artwork with the three-spoke wheels and oversized number 1 graphics along both flanks, while vivid blue upholstery carries the theme into the cabin. Designer Michael Santoro signed the work, and a plaque at the rear still identifies the car as “American Anthem” and production #1-001. Vector CEO D. Peter Rose gave him a simple brief: create a show car that would draw attention, emphasize the M12’s American production, and hint at a future racing program. Instead of simply applying the Stars and Stripes to the body, Santoro stretched and distorted the motif to suggest the M12 had torn through the flag at speed. <- Gallery -> Even without the stunning livery, the M12 is unmistakably a product of the 1990s. The wedge-shaped nose, steeply raked wraparound windshield, scissor doors, integrated rear wing and deep side intakes combine to create a low-slung profile that belongs to a very particular era of supercar design. Three decades later, those proportions still make the car look almost impossibly dramatic. The M12 itself arrived during one of Vector’s strangest chapters. After Indonesian conglomerate MegaTech took control of the company, Vector relocated from California to Florida and came under the same corporate ownership as Lamborghini. The M12 consequently used a Lamborghini-sourced, mid-mounted 5.7-liter V12 producing 492 horsepower, paired with a five-speed manual gearbox. Previous duPont REGISTRY coverage puts production at just 14 customer cars, excluding prototypes. Chassis 001 seen here was one of the first M12s prepared for the model’s public debut at the 1996 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Later that year, American Anthem became part of duPont REGISTRY history. Our October 1996 issue featured chassis 001 on the cover beneath a U.S. Navy Blue Angels F/A-18, while an Auto Panache advertisement inside offered the then-new M12 for $189,000 and described it as a “jet fighter concept for the roads.” The car also resurfaced last year in our duPont REGISTRY 40th Anniversary - Cover Cars: 1996 retrospective, which revisited some of the magazine’s standout covers from that year. 30 years on, bringing the original issue back together with the same car at Donuts with duPont made for a rare reunion between a cover and its original subject. Ferrari Dino Pushes the L-Series Market Higher as Saleen S7 Enters Final Days on duPont REGISTRY Live

Monterey Car Week’s mega record-setting eight-figure auction results may be behind us, but the market has far from cooled. On duPont REGISTRY Live, nine lots closed this past week, with eleven currently open for bidding. Classics are also beginning to gain traction on the platform, and a recent run of Ferrari Dino sales has given us an especially useful reference point, as three examples closed on two platforms in three consecutive weeks. But the main focus going into next week remains a rare race-bred American hypercar, the Saleen S7 that we spotlighted recently, set to close in two days. Lots Closed: Highlights Let's start with a 1970 Ferrari Dino 246 GT L-Series, chassis 00744, a Cavallino Classic first-in-class winner with Ferrari Classiche certification, which hammered at $647,000 ($679,350 with Buyer's Premium). For context, a Classiche-certified, numbers-matching 1972 Dino with its original engine sold for $417,500 at Bonhams Monterey, while a 1972 yellow example with a rebuilt engine recently hammered at $370,000 on dR Live. The L-Series is the earliest and rarest 246 GT series, with roughly 358 built. The combination of early-series specification, rare factory color, comprehensive restoration, FCA Platino recognition, and the Cavallino win all played a part in its result. Switching back to modern Ferraris, a 2023 Ferrari 812 GTS Atelier in Grigio Silverstone hammered at $807,000 ($847,350 with Buyer's Premium), while a 2022 812 GTS, part of our recent Monterey drop, hammered at $780,000. A separate example sold for $853,000 on Bring a Trailer in July. Put those three together, and you have a useful recent reference range for the model: $780,000 to $853,000, with the Atelier specification landing somewhere in the middle. Sticking with front-engined V12s and a 1999 Ferrari 550 Maranello finished in Argento Nurburgring with the increasingly desirable factory-gated manual hammered at $254,000 ($266,700 with Buyer’s Premium). Rounding out the Ferraris was a Rosso Corsa 2006 F430 that hammered at $261,000 ($274,500 with Buyer’s Premium). While naturally aspirated mid-engine Ferraris are becoming collector gold, it is the factory manuals that continue to command a premium. Onto Porsche and A 2011 Porsche 997.2 GT3 RS with 13,000 miles hammered at $591,000 ($620,550 with Buyer's Premium), closing 11.9 percent below the platform's sub-5,000-mile record of $671,000. 996 gen models like the GT2 continue to gain traction, and a 2002 Porsche 996 GT2 Manufaktur, one of only five US examples with X-Code options, hammered at $260,500 ($273,525 with Buyer's Premium). An extensively documented 993 1995 Porsche Carrera finished in Aventurine Green hammered at $106,500 ($111,825). As for American performance, a 2006 Ford GT in Mark IV Red hammered at $516,000 ($541,800 with Buyer's Premium) with just 8,998 miles, placing it amongst the highest results for the first-gen GT on the platform Upcoming Lots: Highlights <- Gallery -> The lot you want to be watching right now is the 2003 Saleen S7, connected to Roger Rodas, Paul Walker, and the Always Evolving Collection. What makes it genuinely rare beyond the provenance is the specification: one of only two naturally aspirated S7s built without the polished-wheel upgrade, finished in Speedlab Silver with 1,910 miles and Steve Saleen's signature beneath the driver's door. Currently bid to $860,000 with three days remaining, there is still room to grow. If you are looking for something with more traditional collector credentials, a 2009 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Roadster in Crystal Palladium Grey with 14,000 miles is bid to $183,000 with six days remaining and is one of six convertibles currently in the docket. Compared to its contemporaries, the SLR continues to remain more attainable, but it is yet another 2000s exotic that is starting to gain attention, and the Roadsters are far rarer, with only 520 built at McLaren’s Woking facility in England. At $183,000 with nearly a week of bidding ahead, this one is significantly below where comparable examples have been trading. Staying with open-top machinery, a 2008 Ferrari F430 Spider in Grigio Silverstone with 11,654 miles is bid to $166,000 with three days remaining, while a single-owner 2006 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder with approximately 6,500 miles and finished in Giallo Midas has just entered the docket. Onto Porsche and a 997.2 2012 Porsche 911 Turbo S with 28,000 miles and a carbon fiber interior package is bid to $82,000 with four days remaining, whereas a 2023 Porsche 911 Turbo with roughly 6,700 miles and full body PPF is now bid to $70,000. From exotics to bespoke luxury, two 2027-model-year vehicles with Urban Automotive body kits have entered the docket: a G63 AMG at $308,786 and a Rolls-Royce Cullinan at $466,000, both with six days remaining. Separately, a 2024 Rolls-Royce Ghost finished in Arctic White with a Cobalto Blue interior is now bid to $134,000, rounding out the highlights. View All Lots on duPont REGISTRY Live. McLaren Senna GTR Leads Closed Results as Saleen S7 Headlines the Week Ahead on duPont REGISTRY Live

Following a record-setting Monterey Car Week 2026 that generated $758 million in auction sales, where Ferrari was the dominant marque, duPont REGISTRY Live closed 21 lots this past week, led by a track-only 2020 McLaren Senna GTR. The results followed a special two-car dR Live Monterey drop, which included the platform debut of a GT Silver Metallic Porsche Carrera GT. Nine lots remain open for bidding, headlined by a 2003 Saleen S7 with documented ties to Paul Walker and Roger Rodas. Lots Closed: Highlights A 2020 McLaren Senna GTR, chassis 45 of 75, finished in MSO Pure White, hammered at $ 1,131,000 ($1,187,550 with Buyer's Premium). Standard factory track-spec GTRs have traded publicly between $970,000 and $1,450,000 depending on mileage and specification, with the highest confirmed standard result being $1,435,000 achieved at RM Sotheby's Monterey. Offered with a Bill of Sale, the Senna GTR is not street-legal, and this latest result for the track-only hypercar firmly lands in that range. Staying with McLaren, a 2021 765 LT finished in Curacao Blue with MSO options closed at $605,000 ($635,250 with Buyer's Premium). Four Corvettes, three of which were C7 2019 ZR1s, closed last week, producing some interesting observations. A 345-mile manual ZTK hammered at $297,500($312,375 with Buyer's Premium) while an 837-mile ZTK hammered at $173,000($181,650 with Buyer's Premium). The manual transmission combined with 492 fewer miles produced a 72 percent premium over the higher-mileage ZTK. A 14,089-mile 3ZR example hammered at $130,000($136,500 with Buyer's Premium). Onto Porsche and a 991.2 2018 Porsche GT2 RS Weissach finished in striking Miami Blue and equipped with the highly desirable Weissach Package and 3,019 miles hammered at 765,000(803,250 with Buyer's Premium), above both prior platform Weissach results of $530,000 and $671,786 this summer, though below the $1,000,000 publicly documented high achieved by a 593-mile Viola Purple example on BaT back in July. A 996 2001 Porsche GT2 Clubsport, one of 70 produced, hammered at 362,000(380,100 with Buyer's Premium) with 7,700 miles. A 991.2 2019 Porsche 911 Speedster in Carmine Red, one of just 65 produced in this colour from 1,948 total examples, hammered at $452,000($474,600 with Buyer's Premium), or roughly 1.32x its original MSRP of $343k. Coming to Ferrari, the top lot was a 1972 Ferrari Dino 246 GT finished in Giallo Modena with a rebuilt engine hammered at $370,000 ($388,500 with Buyer's Premium). At Bonhams Laguna Seca on August 13, a numbers-matching, original-engine 1972 Dino finished at $417,500. The rebuilt engine highlights the $47,000 differential between the two results. Rounding out the closed lots is a 2017 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6x6 with OEM conversion parts that hammered at $478,000 ($501,900 with Buyer’s Premium). A Brabus G63 6x6, one of 15 made, previously closed on the platform at $953,399. Upcoming Lots: Highlights <- Gallery -> Nine lots are open for bidding, with a 2003 Saleen S7 serving as the headline lot. As documented in our coverage, this particular car belonged to Roger Rodas, Paul Walker's business partner and co-owner of Always Evolving, confirmed by a California title in the name of AE Mtrs. Chassis 03-024, finished in Speedlab Silver with 1,910 miles, features founder Steve Saleen's signature under the driver's side door, and is one of only two naturally aspirated S7s built without the polished-wheel upgrade. Currently bid to $449,000; eight days remain on what will become the second Saleen S7 to close on dR Live, following last month's record-setting S7 LM from the SFX collection. A 2023 Ferrari 812 GTS Atelier in Grigio Silverstone currently bid to $600,000 closes tomorrow. A standard 812 GTS hammered at $780,000 ($819,000 with Buyer's Premium) on this platform during Monterey week. Sticking with Ferrari, a V12-powered factory-gated 1999 550 Maranello finished in Argento Nurburgring is currently bid to $154,000, whereas a Rosso Corsa 2006 360 Modena with the F1 Automated manual and only 5,247 miles is now bid to $89,000. Yet another Dino makes an appearance this week, with this particular 1970 246 GT a 1st in class Cavallino Winner carrying Ferrari Classiche certification. A 997.1 2011 Porsche GT3RS with 13,000 miles is bid to $352,000 with four days remaining, whereas a 2002 Porsche 911 GT2 with X-Code options, one of just five for the US and appearing for the second time on the platform, is now bidding at $225,000. Rare Steve Saleen-Signed S7 With Paul Walker Ties Hits the Block on duPont REGISTRY Live

Just a few weeks since a twin-turbocharged 2007 Saleen S7 LM from the SFX Collection delivered a platform-record result of $1,098,000 ($1,152,900 including buyer’s premium), yet another S7 has joined duPont REGISTRY Live, representing a steady stream of hypercar consignments on the platform. This time, it is a naturally aspirated 2003 example, chassis 03-024, finished in Speedlab Silver over a charcoal interior with 1,910 miles. Although often associated with Paul Walker, this S7 never belonged to the late actor. According to the Saleen S7 Registry on Instagram, it belonged to Walker’s business partner, the late Roger Rodas. A California title issued in the name of AE Mtrs, the business associated with Walker and Rodas, further supports the car’s Always Evolving provenance. This particular example stands out further, as it also bears Steve Saleen’s signature beneath the driver’s butterfly door and retains its black-painted factory wheels. The registry also added that Saleen built only two S7 road cars without the polished-wheel upgrade, making this particular example extremely rare with an already limited production run of ~100 units. It is easy to see why a younger demographic of collectors keeps going after cars like the S7. Its naturally aspirated 7.0-liter V8 produces 550 horsepower that goes exclusively to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. It delivers the analog, large-displacement formula that is becoming increasingly sought after in an era of electrification and hybridization. <- Gallery -> Long-term readers of duPont REGISTRY should remember that a Speedlab Yellow S7 Twin Turbo was the cover car on our October 2005 edition, and last year, we also featured it in our list of best manual supercars for sale. For enthusiasts who grew up in the early 2000s, the S7 was also a poster car of sorts since it featured in video games such as Project Gotham Racing 2, Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition, and the Forza Motorsport series. That younger demographic of collectors has now reached the age where some can bid on the real thing. The S7 backs up that nostalgia with 200-plus-mph performance and a formidable racing legacy. Its competition counterpart, the S7-R, won races and championships worldwide, including an LMGT1 class victory at the 2010 24 Hours of Le Mans. Factor in the low production numbers, and any public S7 offering becomes an event. Currently bid to $402,500, bidding remains open through August 31. Porsche Carrera GT and Ferrari 812 GTS Headline duPont REGISTRY Live’s Monterey Car Week Specials

Monterey Car Week 2026 saw the collector car market tested across five auction houses and hundreds of lots. duPont REGISTRY Live marked the occasion with two special offerings of its own, delivered through our flash sale format during one of the most significant auction weeks of the year. A 2005 Porsche Carrera GT, chassis 0558, made its platform debut on duPont REGISTRY Live as a special Car Week dR Drop, closing Saturday after fierce bidding in the final hour. Finished in GT Silver Metallic over a Dark Grey full leather interior, the car shows 3,844 miles and arrives in an exceptionally well-documented state: original window sticker, factory documentation, owner's literature, the matching black luggage set, car cover, and two keys all accompany the car, alongside more than $72,000 in documented Porsche dealer service completed in 2021. Monterey Car Week 2026 is officially underway, and some of the world's most significant collector cars are set to change hands over the coming few days. duPont REGISTRY Live is marking the occasion with a particularly special drop. For the first time on the platform, a 2005 Porsche Carrera GT is being offered, with bidding set to close this Saturday. This stunning example is finished in classic GT Silver Metallic over Dark Grey full leather, showing just 3,843 miles at the time of documentation. Porsche 918 Spyder Leads the Week on duPont REGISTRY Live

The steady flow of hypercar consignments on duPont REGISTRY Live has continued into August, with a Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach leading across 16 lots that crossed the digital auction block this past week, including the final car from the SFX Collection we spotlighted back in late July. This week also produced some particularly useful examples, most notably the combined Weissach and mileage premium on the 918, and the open-top hierarchy within the Scuderia family. While Porsche and Ferrari again dominated the closed lots, the upcoming docket remains equally diverse, with heavy hitters including a Viper ACR Extreme, two Corvette ZR1s, a Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6x6, and American custom builds returning to the platform. Lots Closed: Highlights A 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder, the second on the platform with the highly desirable Weissach Package finished in GT Silver metallic with just 204 original miles, hammered at $3,825,918. With Buyer’s Premium ($4,017,214), it is now amongst the top results achieved on duPont REGISTRY Live since the platform launched. Onto Ferrari and dR Live’s 430 Scuderia results also produced a second pricing observation. A Rosso Corsa 2009 Ferrari 430 Scuderia Spider 16M with Ferrari Classiche certification hammered at $947,000, making it the highest result for the model on dR Live. The open-top variant commands a premium above the coupe depending on specification. Scuderia coupe results on this platform have ranged from $498,000 to $729,000, and the model's publicly documented record sits at $1,980,000, set in January 2026 at Mecum Kissimmee. Beyond the Scuderia, a 2022 Ferrari F8 Spider in Grigio Silverstone realized $547,000, a 1.98x multiple over its approximately $276,000 original sticker, a nero 2007 Ferrari 599 GTB converted to a six-speed manual and $56,000 in options crossed the block at $232,000, while a 2002 Ferrari 360 Modena with a factory manual in Rosso Corsa realized $216,500. Coming back to Porsche and besides the 918, five more cars across both air-cooled and water-cooled eras closed on the platform. A 1993 Porsche 964 Turbo 3.6 finished in Wimbledon Green with matching interior hammered at $715,000. Following closely, a 991.2 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS Weissach with magnesium wheels hammered at $671,786, a single-owner 993 1997 Porsche 911 Turbo, and a 997.1 2007 Porsche 911 Turbo with the increasingly desirable six-speed manual closed at $160,000. Beyond the headline results, the week's remaining lots also illustrated the breadth of collector appetite the platform continues to attract. A 2005 Acura NSX-T (the second on the platform) in Grigio Silverstone with a six-speed manual hammered at $107,500, a strong result for the final-year NA2 generation and consistent with the platform's growing track record in Japanese performance icons. A 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach, currently bid to $3,465,000, leads the docket on duPont REGISTRY Live and will cross the digital block later today, with just over 8 hours left at the time of writing. Finished in GT Silver Metallic over Garnet Red leather and fitted with the highly desirable Weissach Package, this is chassis #67 of 918 units that Porsche hand-assembled in Zuffenhausen between 2013 and 2015. This car is also one of only 162 U.S. market examples with the Weissach package, which cost over $80,000 when new. Showing just 204 miles since new, it has averaged fewer than 20 miles a year over its eleven-year life. Beyond the Weissach hardware, this particular example was heavily optioned from the factory, with the front-axle lift system, an 11-speaker Burmester surround-sound system, and full-body paint-protection film over the pristine GT Silver finish. McLaren P1 Coupe Sets a New Public Auction Record as a Porsche 918 Spyder and Saleen S7 LM Lead the Docket on duPont REGISTRY Live

17 automobiles crossed the digital auction block on duPont REGISTRY Live this week across what has been the platform's most active summer since its November 2025 launch. Collectors continued assigning measurable premiums to documented factory-backed upgrades, and pricing within individual model lines became increasingly specification-driven, with both Porsche and Ferrari maintaining their dominance across the active docket. The headline result this past week came from a 2014 McLaren P1 that established a new public auction record for a standard-production coupe, hammering at $2,750,000. The result is the third McLaren P1 transaction the platform has facilitated in under three months, with all three combined totaling $8,771,700, including Buyer's Premium. It is worth noting that the Lanzante P1 Spider that closed back in June for $3,300,000 is not a standard production McLaren P1, but one of just five open-top conversions carried out by Lanzante Motorsport in England. This third P1 Coupe result closes a season that has already seen the record-breaking $13.01 million Rosso Dino Ferrari Enzo, Bugatti EB110 prototype, and Ferrari F12tdf development mule all cross the block on the platform. The docket heading into August opens with a second 918 Spyder already bid above the first one's hammer price with five days remaining. Lots Closed: Highlights The standout result belonged to the 2014 McLaren P1, chassis #102 of 375, finished in Carbon Black over McLaren Orange and showing just 1,254 miles. It also represents 2.39 times the model's original MSRP of approximately $1.15 million. The defining differentiator is the car's documented Generation 2 battery conversion, completed by McLaren Chicago in late 2024 at a cost of $568,904. While specification, provenance, and auction dynamics always influence individual sales, the result provides the clearest indication yet that collectors are assigning a substantial premium to cars equipped with McLaren's latest battery technology. The SFX collection’s 2020 Ford GT Mk II, #14 of only 45 built, hammered for $877,000. As a track-only model sold on a bill of sale and ineligible for road registration, it appeals to a considerably narrower buyer pool than the road-going Ford GT. The 2023 Porsche 911 Sport Classic, also from the SFX collection, showing just 78 miles, hammered for $510,000, effectively matching the model's publicly documented average of $514,144. A near-delivery-mile example closing at the market average suggests Sport Classic values may now be entering a period of stabilization following their initial appreciation. Ferrari produced another notable market signal. A 2009 Ferrari 430 Scuderia finished in Nero hammered for $498,000 following a recent annual service. Previous Scuderia results on the platform, all finished in Rosso Corsa, ranged from $630,000 to $729,000. While a single result does not establish a definitive market discount, it provides the clearest indication to date that exterior color may exert a measurable influence on Scuderia values. The previous publicly documented auction record for the S7 LM is $1,205,000. With two days remaining, this lot has material room to develop. Porsche dominates the docket with six entries, which also includes the aforementioned 918 Spyder Weissach. The 991.2 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS Weissach with magnesium wheels leads at $595,095 with two days remaining. The platform's own Chalk Gray GT2 RS Weissach hammered at $530,000 last month. Magnesium wheels represent a meaningful factory specification above the standard carbon package, and the current bid already reflects that differential. Closing Today on duPont REGISTRY Live: 1,254-Mile Carbon Black McLaren P1

A 2014 McLaren P1 will cross the digital block on duPont REGISTRY Live later today, with just under nine hours left at the time of writing and bidding at $2,650,000 across 28 bids. Chassis #102 of 375, this P1 is finished in Carbon Black over black leather and Alcantara with McLaren Orange contrast stitching, one of an estimated 35 to 40 cars specified in that color. It shows 1,254 miles. The defining detail of this example is the paperwork. In late 2024, McLaren Chicago carried out more than $568,900 in factory-authorized service at roughly 740 miles, headlined by the installation of McLaren's Generation 2 high-voltage battery. The revised battery is built for better long-term durability than the original unit, and the same visit replaced the motor control unit, DC-DC converter, hybrid drive gearbox, steering rack, and a long list of driveline and suspension components. A CARFAX detailing entry from February 2026 rounds out the history, with two owners from new and a clean title. Mechanically, nothing about the P1 has aged.
