McLaren W1 First Drive: Ferocious Hypercar Transcends the Track

You know things are getting serious when McLaren rolls-out the ‘1’ suffix. The origin story is, of course, the very first road car McLaren ever built, the F1. Designed by visionary Formula 1 aerodynamicist and engineer Gordon Murray, it arrived in 1992 and rendered all other supercars obsolete. The tiny, lightweight F1 embraced carbon-fibre material technology, adopted a radical centre seat driving position with two passengers set back and either side and was powered by a 6.1-litre V12 engine from BMW that might as well have been passed down directly from the Gods. Game-changer? That doesn’t even come close to describing its impact, even if at the time sales didn’t come easy… The P1 was very different. Rather than a unique side project from the Formula 1 team, it was instead a statement piece for McLaren Automotive, a new road car division still in its infancy. It arrived in 2013 and was a wild-eyed showstopper. It traded the long-legged gait and supple suspension of the F1 for a weaponized hybrid system capable of delivering 903bhp and huge blue flames from its drainpipe exhaust. In Race mode, it lowered by 2-inches and its massive concave rear wing extended into the sky. The P1 was all about aerodynamic downforce, crazed acceleration and a snorting, angry soundtrack that mixed venomous twin-turbocharged V8 with the manic whirr of electric motors. Not so much a car as a force of nature. And now there’s this: The W1. It’s a true successor to the P1 with a similar brief and, on the face of it, it evolves rather than radically reinvents McLaren’s vision for the ultimate hypercar. This is not a criticism. How could it be when the result is this dramatic and has such staggering, other-worldly potential? The W1 has 1258bhp delivered to the rear wheels. It’s capable of 0-124 mph in 5.8-seconds, the quarter mile in 9.6-seconds at 167 mph and produces 2205lbs of downforce at 174 mph. The active aerodynamics – particularly a rear wing that extends way out beyond the rear of the car – are pure performance art and deliver massive aerodynamic efficiency. The result, aside from looking extremely cool, is that the W1 is McLaren’s fastest road car around a racetrack. Ever. Their benchmark circuit is the breath-taking Handling Track at the Nardo proving ground in southern Italy, where the W1 beats their previous benchmark, the flyweight McLaren Senna, by three seconds per lap. Or “a lifetime” as they call it in racing. Maybe two lifetimes! Core to the W1’s performance is the new ‘Aerocell’ carbon fibre tub. With integrated seats and a raised footwell to allow for inboard pushrod-operated front suspension – which in turn gives air a clean path to the huge underbody diffuser – it’s light, stiff, space efficient and has been instrumental in McLaren realising a full ground-effect concept. Just like last year’s F1 cars, which were the fastest ever made. There is also an active front wing and the aforementioned complex rear wing dubbed ‘Active Long Tail’. All of which is very admirable. But the ‘anhedral’ or gullwing doors and the fantastically shirnked-wrapped feel to the minimalist, highly-focussed interior are a pretty good side effect. The W1 feels special. Those fixed seats are perhaps a shade more upright than expected, and the driving position is less obviously racecar than, for example, the Aston Martin Valhalla or Ferrari F80. However, once you’ve adjusted the pedals (they move on a slider) and the delicate, slim-rimmed and alcantara-trimmed steering wheel, there’s an overwhelming sense of purpose. The cabin is so tightly tailored and imparts a sense of lightness and agility before you so much as start the all-new 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, which makes 916bhp all on its own and revs to 9200rpm. Reach up to a roof-mounted control panel to find the starter button. Maybe this fighter plane trope is a little corny, but somehow you feel thrilled rather than manipulated. The W1 has a sense of humour as well as all that motorsport-derived sophistication. There’s a short delay, but when the engine does fire it’s instant – as the high-powered hybrid system negates the need for an old-school starter motor. A sharp flare of revs tells you that this engine is hyper-responsive and angry. On some deep level your brain and body have been sent all the signals required to prepare for something new and intense. Ahead of us, an empty Mugello racetrack, so press and hold the blue button next to the red starter to select Race mode. The centre display graphic shows the W1’s transformation in real time as it lowers by 37mm at the front and 17mm at the rear whilst simultaneously undocking all that active aero goodness. Race mode is not road legal and is geo-locked. You can show your friends and neighbours the aero dance, but it won’t allow you to select a gear to actually drive unless you’re at a circuit. Incidentally, the rocker switches either side of the display binnacle allow further options now: Toggle up the Handling control on the left for Race+ (for F1-spec super smooth tracks) or stick to Race for gnarlier ones. On the right toggle select ‘GP’ for sustained performance over a stint or ‘Sprint’ to unleash all 1258bhp for a time attack. There’s also a DRS and Boost function on the steering wheel. But I guarantee you won’t have the mental capacity to use them… Exit the pitlane, pin the throttle and W1 takes maybe a millisecond or two to gather its might (the gearing stretches to around 60mph in first, nearly 100mph in second, primarily to aid traction), but then lunges at the first turn with incredible ferocity. It instantly feels light, almost like inertia is no longer a thing. McLaren really does prize lightweight engineering, and at 3084lbs (dry) the W1 has a 278lbs advantage over the Ferrari F80. Plus, Ferrari uses figures for cars fitted with every single carbon fibre option. In reality, the gap is probably wider still. The impression of agility and stunning control continues as the track is unravelled at startling pace. The electric motor mounted to the side of the new 8-speed dual-clutch transmission is good for 342bhp and 324lb ft and it boosts any low rev lethargy the new flat-plane crank V8 might have (spoiler alert: It doesn’t appear to have any), so the W1 just feels massively, almost impossibly powerful at any revs. Even so, there’s real reward for wringing it out to 9200rpm and the power curve feels superheated but organic, too. In Race mode the steering – still hydraulically powered – has less assistance and it is noticeably heavier than other McLarens. However, that resistance is welcome as it gives you something to push against and imparts so much information about the front grip level. New Pirelli Trofeo RS tyres with a bigger front footprint than P1 or Senna really help. The front-end feels incredibly secure and the rear-axle follows with perfectly-aligned precision. The whole car feels super-stiff, completely locked into the surface and inspires confidence, but there’s an inherent agility and adjustability that means you’re quickly confident to push at its limits and really impose yourself on the chassis. It’s such a complex car but the driving experience is intuitive, and the driver feels a key contributor rather than just amazed (or terrified) observer, holding on for dear life. Every dynamic ingredient really is shockingly effective and yet has a subtlety and lightness of touch. From that delicious steering to the incredible brakes, the W1 just feels so mission-focussed, so hooked-up. Only the new 8-speed gearbox is a slightly disappointment. It’s fast and punchy, but after the scintillating energy of the Ferrari F80 ’box it feels competent rather than inspired. Other quibbles – it’s okay to quibble when the starting price is $2.1-million before tax and destination charge. Well, that new twin-turbocharged V8 sounds tightly wound and aggressive but if you have a P1 tucked in the garage you’ll miss the snorting, Darth Vader-style soundscape and all the drama that goes with it. Ferrari does this better, too. The F80 sounds deathly dull from the outside but is a riot of turbochargers, electric motors and all sorts of mechanical fury within the cockpit. Even so, the W1 is wildly entertaining on track, and the rear-drive configuration makes it more of a challenge and more satisfying than the F80 when chasing lap times or just sliding around for fun. In the Ferrari, you must second-guess what the front e-axle might do, whereas in the W1 it’s all on you. There are plenty of tools to help, including the ingenious Variable Drift Control, but somehow the W1 is more heroic. Or at least fools you into feeling more heroic – which is surely the point! On the road? Nimble, loaded with feel and sublime response. The ride is noticeably tougher than, say, a 750S but the control is ramped-up too, and with a bit more speed the whole car finds a delicious rhythm. Sport mode for the drivetrain brings some nice turbo whooshes and chirps, but the noise remains high-quality rather than extreme excitement. It is perhaps the one area the W1 feels just a little too tame. Of course, there’s nothing tame about the raw performance… which is genuinely shocking and literally hurts your neck muscles after a few hours. How McLaren has given the W1 such immense traction through just two driven wheels is beyond me. So, is it worthy of that ‘1’? I think so. Perhaps we won’t be talking about $25-million auction results for the W1 in 30 years from now, as we are for the F1. Perhaps it doesn’t quite have the amazing presence and jaw-dropping star quality of the simply gorgeous P1. But it is such an intense experience and the way it marries stunning track performance with delicate poise and entertainment on normal roads is something akin to magic. Maybe not ‘the one’ but definitely a searing, outrageous addition to McLaren’s fiercest family line. Just 399 W1’s will be built and they’re all sold. I’m not surprised at all. 204-Mile Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach Listed on duPont REGISTRY Live

A 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach that has covered fewer than 20 miles a year since 2015 has just gone live on duPont REGISTRY Live. This is the second 918 to surface on the digital auction block, arriving amid a steady run of hypercar and Holy Trinity consignments since the platform came online in mid-November last year. Built as the successor to the Carrera GT and the 959 Porsche halo models before it, the 918 Style by Michael Mauer was first revealed as a concept at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, a fact we recently highlighted in our 918 Spyder Marketspotlight. The production model debuted at Frankfurt in 2013 and joined the Ferrari LaFerrari and McLaren P1 to become what is now known as the Holy Trinity Hypercars. The production model relies on a 4.6-liter naturally aspirated V8, taken from the RS Spyder LMP2 racer, which works with two electric motors for a combined 887 horsepower. The acid-green accents on the bodywork and brake calipers highlight the car’s e-hybrid tech. In Weissach trim, it lapped the Nürburgring in 6 minutes 57 seconds, the first production car to do so under seven minutes. This particular car is #67 of the 918 units that Porsche hand-assembled in Zuffenhausen between 2013 and 2015. What makes this example noteworthy is that it is equipped with the highly desirable and sought-after Weissach Package that cost over $80,000 when new. To offer some context on rarity, this car is one of only 162 Weissach examples that arrived stateside, out of 297 cars delivered to the United States. The Weissach pack shaved roughly 90 pounds from the car through lightweight magnesium center-lock wheels, titanium hardware, ceramic wheel bearings, and lightweight door pulls. <- Gallery -> Finished in GT Silver Metallic, arguably the model's most timeless colour, over a Garnet Red leather cabin trimmed with light-grey accents, crests embossed in the headrests and 918 Spyder script stitched throughout. Exposed carbon bucket seats and carbon trim reinforce this car’s motorsport intent. The first owner specified it well beyond the Weissach kit, adding front-axle lift, the 11-speaker Burmester surround system, dual-zone climate and the multifunction sport wheel. The service file is what elevates this car above other low-mileage examples. It went in for its 10-year service in 2025, and Porsche pulled the engine to replace the rear main seal, fit fresh spark plugs and ignition coils, and swap the intake sensors. Delivered new through Porsche Bellevue in Washington, it has never left Porsche's authorized network, passing through Bellevue, Marin, Fremont, Woodland Hills, Naples and Palm Springs. Brabus G63 AMG 6x6 Leads Closed Results as SFX Collection and McLaren P1 Define the Week Ahead on duPont REGISTRY Live

14 exquisite collector cars crossed the digital block on duPont REGISTRY Live this week, led by a Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6x6 Brabus B63-S 700, delivering a result that once again highlights what the No Reserve format produces when the right car finds the right audience. 19 lots are currently in the docket, headlined by a McLaren P1 entering its final four days of bidding, two of the rarest American performance cars ever offered on the platform from the SFX Collection, and a direct comparison between the Ferrari 430 Scuderia Coupe and Spider 16M in the same active docket. Lots Closed: Highlights A W463 2014 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6x6 Brabus B63-S 700, one of just 15 produced, hammered at $907,999. For some context, the original MSRP for a G63 AMG 6x6 was ~$550,000, with the Brabus conversion reportedly costing between $150,000 and $200,000. The publicly documented record for the model sits at $1,210,000, set at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale in January 2022, against an average of $889,250. This latest result on dR Live sits above the average and validates the No Reserve format at this level. The second Lamborghini Revuelto to close on the platform, finished in Nero Nemesis, hammered at approximately $587,333. The first, in Grigio Acheso, closed at $589,000. Two examples within 0.3 percent of each other provide one of the clearest secondary market reference points the Revuelto has produced at auction to date. Two dR Drop flash sale results closed on Saturday. A 2013 Ferrari 458 Spider went under the hammer at $420,000 and a 2021 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 closed at $84,500, both via the platform's two-hour format. The SFX Collection produced two results this week. A 2022 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 showing just 125 miles hammered at $119,500, and a 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Jailbreak closed at $80,000. Porsche supplied three closed results. A 930 1979 Porsche 911 Turbo in Talbot Yellow, the final year of the original Turbo generation, went under the hammer at $168,500. A 996 2002 Porsche 911 GT2 in Arctic Silver with X-Code options crossed the digital block at $274,000, adding a second data point to the 996 GT2 market. Last week's Guards Red one-of-19 GT2 closed at $285,000. Both examples now establish a credible pricing range for 996 GT2 variants in rare specification. A 997.1 2007 Porsche 911 Turbo with a six-speed manual and FabSpeed exhaust hammered at $178,000. A 2024 Range Rover SV LWB with the 1016 Industries bodykit closed at $178,000, and a 2016 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG in the limited Solarbeam Edition, one of 400 produced, went under the hammer at $86,000. Upcoming Lots: Highlights <- Gallery -> 19 lots are currently open for bidding across a notably diverse docket. The 2014 McLaren P1 with Generation 2 battery and 1,254 miles is bid to $2,650,000. With four days remaining, this will be the hypercar lot to watch this week. Eight of the 10 SFX Collection cars, one of the most diverse single-consignor offerings to appear on the platform, are now in the docket, being led by a 2020 Ford GT MkII, number 14 of 45 produced, currently bid to $600,095 with five days remaining. One of just 45 track-only examples built by Multimatic, the MkII is powered by a 700 horsepower 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 and sold on a bill of sale. Sitting at $600,095 with five days remaining, the current figure has material room to develop. A 2007 Saleen S7 LM, one of just three converted to LM specification, is bid to $508,500 with eight days remaining. Powered by a twin-turbocharged 7.0-liter V8 producing up to 1,300 horsepower, the previous publicly documented auction record for the S7 LM stands at $1,205,000. At $508,500 with eight days left, this lot is in its early stages. The 2023 Porsche 911 Sport Classic from the SFX Collection, showing just 78 miles, is bid to $360,000 with four days remaining. Limited to 1,250 examples globally and among the most collectible modern 911 variants produced, a near-delivery-condition example of this specification is a compelling proposition. Two Ferrari 430 Scuderias are simultaneously active in the docket, offering a direct market comparison. A Rosso Corsa 2009 Ferrari 430 Scuderia Spider 16M with Ferrari Classiche certification is bid to $415,000 with nine days remaining, while a 2009 Ferrari 430 Scuderia coupe in Nero sits at $350,000 with five days left. The platform has documented multiple Scuderia coupe results in recent months. The Spider 16M, produced in just 499 examples and representing the open-top flagship of the Scuderia range, commands a measurable premium over the coupe in the current market. A Guards Red 996 2002 Porsche 911 GT2 Exclusive Manufaktur, one of just five produced for the US market, is bid to $223,000 with five days remaining. Given that last week's Arctic Silver X-Code GT2 closed at $274,000, the rarer Manufaktur specification at $223,000 with five days remaining is a figure worth watching closely. Further highlights include a 2007 Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano in Blu Tour de France with the Enzo-derived V12 at $176,000, a 2017 Ferrari 488 Spider finished in Nero sitting at $195,500, a 2015 Dodge Viper TA 2.0, one of only 32 made at $110,000 a 2001 Porsche 911 GT3 as a rare early 996.1 example with factory aero kit at $75,000, and a air-cooled 1993 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6 in Wimbledon Green with matching interior at $30,500 with nine days remaining. 1-of-3: 2007 Saleen S7 LM Debuts on duPont REGISTRY Live

A 2007 Saleen S7 LM, chassis LM-004, has just been listed on duPont REGISTRY Live, becoming the 10th and final car and one of the crown jewels of the SFX Collection that we featured earlier this week. The Saleen S7, widely considered America's first production supercar, broke cover in 2000 as Steve Saleen's first clean-sheet production car after decades of reworking Ford performance models. A carbon-fiber body, purpose-built chassis, and mid-engined layout were designed to take on the very best from Europe. Twin turbocharging was added in 2005, and fewer than 100 examples were built across road cars, race variants, and special editions. Ardent readers of duPont REGISTRY will remember that a yellow example featured on our cover in our October 2005 issue. More recently, the S7 featured yet again in our Best Manual Supercars for sale and 10 Fastest American Production Cars lists, and now we have this Le Mans edition up for grabs on duPont REGISTRY Live. Back in 2017, Saleen announced the S7 LM program as a tribute to the S7-R endurance racer, designating seven hand-selected S7s for conversion to Le Mans specification. Showing just 168 miles and finished in silver over black leather and Alcantara, the LM-004 is one of only three examples that were ever converted. Under the hood, you'll find a 7.0-liter twin-turbocharged Saleen V8, built on Ford Windsor architecture, that puts out 1,000 horsepower on pump gas and a claimed 1,300 horsepower with race fuel and the appropriate calibration. A six-speed manual transaxle with a limited-slip differential sends power exclusively to the rear wheels, with Saleen claiming a top speed in excess of 240 mph. <- Gallery -> The LM conversion, though, goes well past an engine upgrade. On the aero front, an adjustable biplane rear wing, race-inspired side skirts, an enclosed underbody with an aggressive diffuser, and revised bodywork all trace back to the S7-R racer. The dynamic abilities have been enhanced by revised double-wishbone suspension components, six-piston monoblock calipers, and staggered center-lock wheels on Michelin Pilot Super Sports. The butterfly doors carry over, as does the Le Mans Edition getting Sparco seats in black leather and Alcantara with silver embroidered logos and silver-painted backs. 10-Cars from SFX Collection Being Offered on duPont REGISTRY Live

Much of the current docket on duPont REGISTRY Live is now made up of cars from the prestigious SFX Collection, with seven of the 10 cars already live on the platform, with the remaining three set to follow soon. It is one of the most diverse single-consignor offerings to appear on the platform and gives collectors access to everything from seven-figure American hypercars to limited-production European exotics and modern muscle cars, many showing delivery-level mileage. The crown jewels of the collection are two American hypercars that will be listed soon. Leading the lineup is a 2020 Ford GT Mk II,1-of-45 examples built worldwide. Developed jointly by Ford Performance and Multimatic as an uncompromising track-only evolution of the road-going Ford GT, the Mk II produces 700 horsepower from its twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6. Built exclusively for circuit use, it replaces luxury appointments with competition-focused equipment, including Sparco racing seats, a Multimatic carbon-fiber steering wheel, and extensive aerodynamic enhancements. The other headline lot is a 2007 Saleen S7 LM, 1-of-3 LM conversions completed from a planned run of 7. Representing the ultimate evolution of Steve Saleen's landmark mid-engine exotic, it develops between 1,000 and 1,300 horsepower depending on fuel and tune while incorporating comprehensive race-inspired aerodynamic and chassis upgrades. From Ingolstadt, a 2026 Audi RS6 Avant GT wagon, 1-of-660 examples worldwide and just 26 miles on, this example packs 630 horsepower in Audi's ultimate interpretation of the C8-generation RS6. The other four-ring consignment is a 55-mile 2023 Audi R8 Spyder representing one of the final naturally aspirated V10 supercars ever built, and marking the end of Audi R8's two-decade-long lineage. Ferrari F12tdf Test Mule Sets a New Benchmark as McLaren P1 Headlines Docket on duPont REGISTRY Live

14 automobiles crossed the block on duPont REGISTRY Live this week, with the Ferrari F12tdf Mulotipo MP4 delivering the standout result. A car that failed to sell at a major international auction house in May 2026 with an estimate of $1,000,000 to $1,300,000 crossed the digital block on this platform for $778,000, a new public record for the prototype and a result that illustrates what the No Reserve format produces when the right car meets the right audience. 13 lots are now open for bidding, led by a 2014 McLaren P1 with Generation 2 battery already bid to $2,300,095 with 12 days remaining. Lots Closed: Highlights The 2014 Ferrari F12tdf Mulotipo MP4 hammered at $778,000, surpassing its previous confirmed public result of $660,000 by 17.9 percent. For a development mule that cannot be registered for road use and is offered on a bill of sale, the result is a meaningful statement about how the collector market values factory provenance and documented development history. The 2006 Ford GT in Speed Yellow with full stripe delete, one of just two examples in existence with this combination, crossed the digital block at $583,000, a new platform high for the Gen-1 Ford GT and a clear premium over the standard-specification example that realized $517,000 here earlier this year. The 2021 McLaren 765LT with Roof Scoop, which led last week's docket, hammered at $591,995, consistent with the upper range of where the 765LT coupe has been trading across the broader market. A 2024 McLaren 750S Spider with full MSO bespoke build at a $599,000 MSRP crossed at $402,500. From Woking to Stuttgart and a 991.2 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS with Weissach Package in Chalk Gray crossed the digital block at $530,000. Staying with Porsche, a 996 2002 Porsche 911 GT2 in Guards Red closed at $285,000, a Racing Yellow 992.1 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 Touring with carbon fiber roof at $214,500, and an Arctic Silver 996 2005 Porsche 911 GT3 with the Mezger flat six at $114,000. After appearing in three consecutive weekly reports, the 2017 Dodge Viper ACR-Extreme VoooDoo II, one of 31 produced, that hit the docket as our Independence Day special, went under the hammer at $453,777, closing one of the more closely watched price arcs the platform has produced this summer. Rounding out this week’s highlights are three lots from Italy: a 2018 Lamborghini Huracan Performante in Bianco Monocerus, which realized $351,000; a V12-powered 1997 Ferrari 550 Maranello with gated manual, which realized $298,000; and a French market 1991 Ferrari Testarossa finished in Rosso Corsa, which went under the hammer on Friday at $160,000. The Gen 2 battery specification is significant: factory replacement represents a meaningful investment in the car's long-term usability. Nine cars crossed the block on duPont REGISTRY Live this past week, and the result that everyone was watching, delivered. The 1994 Bugatti EB110 GT Factory Prototype hammered at $3,625,000, surpassing the previous publicly documented high for any EB110 at public auction, GT or Super Sport, and setting a new benchmark for the nameplate. Last week's report noted this lot had material room to develop, and it did with a fierce bidding war in the final hour. Looking ahead, 14 lots are currently in the docket and now open for bidding, led by McLaren 765 LT, a Speed Yellow Ford GT, as one of just two in existence with full stripe delete, a G63 AMG 6x6 Brabus B63-S 700, one of just 15 built making its platform debut, and the Ferrari F12tdf development mule entering its final days of bidding. Lots Closed: Highlights The 1994 Bugatti EB110 GT Factory Prototype, chassis C13, hammered at $3,625,000. One of just 15 factory prototypes produced, this historically significant EB110 previously sold at RM Sotheby's Amelia Island auction in 2022 for $2,100,000. The figure surpasses the previous record of $3,167,500 achieved by a Bugatti EB110 Super Sport at Gooding Christie's Pebble Beach auction in 2022, representing an increase of more than 20 percent when factoring in the aforementioned buyer's premium on the latest result. Porsche delivered two GT2 results worth tracking. The 997.1 2008 Porsche 911 GT2, one of 185 produced, hammered at $525,000, surpassing the previous publicly documented high for the model and continuing the rerating of the generation as the last manual-only, rear-wheel-drive 911 of its era. From Stuttgart to Maranello and a V12-powered 2007 Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano in Rosso Corsa with 5,062 miles realized $355,000, while a 1995 Ferrari F355 Berlinetta with a gated six-speed manual and finished in iconic Giallo Modena over a Black Connolly leather interior crossed at $253,000. Four Porsches span three generations in the docket. A 991.2 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS with Weissach Package in Chalk Gray leads at $431,000 with six days remaining. A 996 2002 Porsche 911 GT2 in Guards Red, one of just 19 in this specification, sits at $251,000 with five days left. Given this week's 996 GT2 Clubsport result of $445,000, this figure warrants close attention. Staying with the 996, a 2005 Porsche 911 GT3 finished in artic silver with rare blue accents and the Mezger flat six, is sitting at $50,000. Finally, a 992.1 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 Touring in Racing Yellow with a carbon fiber roof is at $180,000. The 2014 Ferrari F12tdf Mulotipo MP4, the only documented F12tdf-specific development mule to have appeared at public auction, is closing within two days. Another front-engine V12 consignment this week includes a blue 1997 Ferrari 550 Maranello with a gated manual now at $130,000, while a 1991 Ferrari Testarossa French market example is currently bidding to $75,000. A Rare Opportunity to Acquire Ferrari's F12tdf Factory Prototype on duPont REGISTRY Live

A one-of-a-kind 2014 Ferrari F12tdf Mulotipo MP4, the only documented F12tdf-specific factory development prototype ever offered at public auction, is currently live on duPont REGISTRY Live. Ferrari factory prototypes seldom survive the development process intact, let alone reach the open market. This example is one of the handful of prototypes to have entered private ownership across the LaFerrari and F12tdf programs. duPont REGISTRY covered the F12tdf at its original reveal, a model reviving the Tour de France nameplate that honored the legendary endurance road race where the Ferrari 250 GT claimed nine overall victories between 1956 and 1964. Of the 799 production examples of the F12tdf that followed, all are well documented in collector circles. The MP4, though, is unlike any other production model and represents a key part of how the F12tdf was built. Ferrari's Mulotipo designation places this car at a late stage of the development program, incorporating substantial portions of the forthcoming production design so that chassis, suspension, aerodynamic, and electronic systems could be evaluated together before final sign-off.
